  1. a lot of dogs who won't chase a lure will chase live prey, the two are chalk and cheese.
  2. Victorian owners/trainers have to account to the GRV how they dispose of their dogs

Make sure the dog has been fostered with free range chooks. I fostered one that was deadly with cats but great with chooks.
  4. trying to guilt you it's their problem not yours. I have 3 contained cats and they do fine
  5. I had to make an emergency trip away 3 weeks ago. I could take 2 dogs with me but I left 2 home, on their own from Thursday night until Sunday afternoon. I had a friend come in and feed them and the next door neighbour had my phone number and my friends number for "just in case". (and a key to the house) It wasn't ideal but we all survived.
  6. actually I thought this was the law and has been for years. The unsupervised bit no, but the rest - yes.
  7. Why when what is elsewhere has been dragged here for the sympathy vote. Hurts a bit when the shoe is on the other foot doesn't it.
  8. no you shouldn't have bought it here! Take it back where it belongs and speak up there.
  9. I found the hitchmate site already, am going to print it out and take it to a welder person and see what they can do. I am after a tray type carrier more than the bike type carrier because of the metal trays in the crates. With them in, it would be hard to poke a support through.
  10. There are the 3 days of showing at Albury mid April.
  11. yes but you still have to adjust it once on.
  12. I got the same one wrong, I answered the same way.
  13. I am thinking of getting a crate carrier thingee that fits on the tow bar, suitable for soft and metal crates. Any ideas on where I could get one? Do people get them made up or can they be bought already built?
  14. raw has been talked about for a lot longer than 6 years. Maybe you just weren't aware of it. I bought my 1st book on BARF at least 15 years ago.
  15. yes but that includes carriers and my understanding is you can be the most ethical breeder ever born but if you breed a carrier to a clear, no matter that all pups are then DNA tested, carrier pups either desexed or kept by the breeder, you are breaking the law. Which means a whole lot of good dogs are out of the breeding program, even though they and any pups they might produce will not be affected by the disease. But the BYBer's can still carry on.
  16. in 18 years of living at the same address I have only had rangers do their door to door check once! Even though they do it annually. And I only had to show them one tag, they never asked to see all of them. (The collar and tag were hanging on hook on the front porch). I have never ever, wherever I have lived, been spoken to a ranger while out walking my dog, so have never had one check my dogs collar for tags. One of mine lost their tag soon after the I got the new ones, I still haven't got a replacement ;) I'll get a new one in April when I renew
  17. I would just break the law and take the chance of being busted and not desex any pet of mine until I felt the time was right, then I would register it. These laws won't stop the BYB in any way shape or form. If one of their breeding dogs got out and picked up by the council they would just get another. Easy peasy. Just another nail in the coffin for responsible pet owners, quite a few who know what they are doing. How about the council enforce the laws already in place? Oh hang on that would take time and effort, whereas a dog impounded once is an easy target. No need for any one to do much work there. At the very least there should be some leeway for the accidental escape of a dog. In over 30 years of dog ownership I have had a dog loose from my yard once! and that was because it was let out by a vindictive neighbour. And I was very pleased she was in the pound, somewhat safe, not so pleased some randy lab was trying to rape her when I went to pick her up within 30 minutes of being impounded.
  18. it shows on the dogs paper's who the owner is and where they live. So for your name to be on the papers it does show that you were/are a member of the VCA.
  19. umm some do fade, in fact lots fade, some only after a year or two. And most animals are microchipped when wide awake so tattoo's indicating they are microchipped would be quite rare.
  20. Anyone, vet or pound can see if a dog male or female is desexed as they have a tattoo placed on the ear. They also tattoo the other ear if it is microchipped, but not every vet does this. Our vet does, and its great when you only have to look to know for sure. Lynn tattoo's fade and can't be seen and I have never heard of a vet putting another tattoo in the ear when a dog is microchipped. All my dogs are microchipped and they don't have a tattoo saying so, nor would I allow them to do so.
  21. what a terrible, judgemental, sweeping, statement to make
  22. Thank you, you said what I wanted to but couldn't word it properly.
  23. Is there a canteen or similar at Bulla?
  24. Ah-ha!! Finally someone has picked out my favourite I think she is stunning, is she staying with you? Not at home - but she is my keeper. She'll be living with a friend of mine, co-owned by me, and I'll be showing her. I'll have to get cuddles then one day at a show
