none of my dogs, GSD's and Greyhound's, have been keen on them.

I feed them as they come. I just tried a new supplier, boy were they big, meaty, and fatty. I cut Piper back to 2 and Fern back to 1 1/2, instead of the 3 and 2 they were given before.

A friend of mine had a black grey who had shocking skin when she got him. Nothing worked and she's been feeding Barf for ever. In the end it was 2 or 3 doses of a medicated wash that cleared his skin and he's been fine ever since, this was about 5 years ago.

Okay, this is the key for me. Your pup hasn't learnt not to go in the house. Your pup has been making the choice to go outside but with the door shut her choice has been taken away. You need to go back to basics, keep the door shut and take her out every hour or so until she gets the idea. My dogs rarely ask to go outside to the toilet, I take them out every few hours. If they need to go out they get off the couch and stand around looking hang dog. :D

You need to make the effort to take your pup to places like kindergarten and school. Keep to a distance your dog feels safe at and treat and treat and treat for every time he shows interest in the kids. Ears up and tail relaxed. You might have to start by sitting in the car. Utilise your niece and nephew. Decide how important it is to you that he "loves" kids. He won't be so appealing to them once grown. I have a 11 month old greyhound, loves people to bits. But kids, they are scary! I have no kids here and no plans to socialise her to them. Kids aren't a factor in our life.

A 9 week old puppy still needs 3 feeds a day. Don't cut it down to 2 yet! Their little stomachs can't hold all they need to grow and stay healthy in only 2 feeds. You will just have to weather this. Cutting her food to try and stop her waking you up is not on. I would consider that she will need to go out twice a night for another couple of weeks, then once a night for a few weeks more.

With greyhound's, you either do or don't. Jury is out. I find mine often put their lamb flaps etc on a higher surface themselves, things like their dog beds. Then of course they sometimes get on the dog bed as well. When I do feed dry food I just put their bowl on the ground.

Good grief! How tall are your guys??? Your two must be very tall! They are both tall, Piper is 75cms at the shoulder, Fern approx 70cms. Both a show bred greys. I have a friend with a racing grey who is the same height as Piper but looks best at 38 kilos. Most of Piper's ribs are just visible, if they are covered he is fat. Fern's 30 kilo's was before she got more lamb flaps, all her ribs were showing a lot. I have been free running her at the track and forgot to up her feed. After 4 feeds of lamb flaps in a week hers ribs are now covered nicely. Oh and don't forget the porridge. I only coat mine at night. It's very rare for me to coat them during the day as they are usually inside (they are inside at night but the heater is turned off) I will coat them if they go outside for any length of time.

My current 2 greys are not racers. I used a haltie on Piper (7 years) for over 12 months, he slowly came to his senses and I can mostly walk him on an ordinary collar now but will still use the haltie in places of high excitement ie the GAP Christmas party, for the 1st hour or so until the fizz runs out Fern (9 months) can pull like a train but her exercise is taken care of by going to the local slipping track and letting her run like a mad fiend, then back into the car. Lazy I know but it works for us.

Most retired racers are a dream to walk. Not sure why, they just are!

I wouldn't add rice and pasta. If he needs to put weight on feed him more good stuff, not fillers.

Piper is around 40 kilos, he gets either 1/2 a lamb flap, or 3 chicken carcass's (full ones from the butcher, not the skimpy things from the supermarket) or 3 or 4 cups of dry with extra's like sardines, eggs or Natures Gift tin food. Sometimes he has an extra meal of porridge. Fern at 9 months and 30 kilos get the same as Piper except for the chicken carcass's, she only gets 2. Plus a few extra feeds of left overs, porridge etc over a week. Main meal for both at the moment is the lamb flaps, get them at least 4 times a week.

put her bed in a corner of the bedroom and set the alarm to get you up during the night. If you can manage to barricade her to her corner well and good, if not as you have bare boards you should hear her moving around. You do have to start at the beginning but because she is those few weeks older she should get it quicker purely because her bladder capacity is bigger. Yes there will be the odd accident but there shouldn't be heaps as long as you are vigilant.

I know a kitten did this once while sleeping on someone's chest!

I had a GSD bitch on one stilboestrol a week for several years. It didn't cost a lot and worked wonders. We started off on a higher dose and worked down. If she didn't get her one a week she started leaking again. This was a few years ago now.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Greyhounds I never weigh my dogs food. Depending on the time and the day my guys might get a couple of chicken carcass's and I mean a whole carcass, not those tiny things sold at supermarkets as frames. Or they might get 20 or so chicken necks at a time. That's one meal for each greyhound Piper, 7 yo male 40 kilos, Fern, 8 month old female need to check her weight but I'm guessing high 20's. Then their other meal for the day, and Piper doesn't always get fed twice but Fern does, would be dry food. 2 cups for Fern, plus whatever I feel like chucking in. Eggs might be added 3 times in a row or sardines for a couple of days or Nature's Gift (tin) a couple of times or it might only be plain dry food. Then there are the times I chuck out the bread crusts for them to demolish, the marrow bones for a good chew and sometimes I get their chicken carcass already minced up. I feed the Pedigree Natural from the supermarket, can't get Great Barko here or I would give it a try. I used to feed a pure Barf diet but quite frankly, after seeing one dog too many die of cancer while fed from puppyhood on Barf, I no longer believe it is everything I was told it would be. So now I mix and match and my dogs are doing beautifully, as they did when on pure barf and as they did when fed on the cheapest food going many years ago. Unless your bitch is very large 31-32 kilos sounds like a good weight. Not all dogs eat the recommended amount of dry food.

Many, many years ago I was trialling under a senior, respected judge. He pinged me many points in the heeling as he thought my voice and hands signals were not given together, hence a double signal. Fair enough I thought until I asked him which signal was coming in early, voice or hand. His answer? " I don't know, they were too close together to tell" If he couldn't tell which was first how could he tell they were apart?? I never trialled under him again.

Fern started out in a wire crate, then I got her the soft crate and am about to buy her another wire crate. She out grew the other wire one. Fern has turned into a bit of a Mummy's girl and is scratching at the soft crate mesh to get out when we go showing and I leave her!

I finally did some show shopping today at the local op shop! Got a lovely blue jacket, fully lined, for $12. I was after a black one but they didn't have any in my size so maybe next time ;)

I put my dogs outside when I vacuum so it's no problem. If I do leave one in they just move from room to room away from me. As for the plastic bags, try putting his food in some. Tip from the bag to the bowl. All my dogs love the sound of plastic bags as that's where all their food comes from. They are downright embarrassing when out and about if someone rustles a bag!

I got the one from ebay, no Brunnings near me! I love it and the dogs are fine with it

Can't add anything except to say Polly is beautiful. My 1st greyhound was a white and black boy, Sam, so I think the "cow" dogs are extra special! You can't stop at one you know

consider the weather. Fern is 6 months old and fully housetrained but pee's on the carpet on the back verandah when the ground is wet! Last night it was raining and I dreaded what the carpet would be like but she peed on the mattress (in it's waterproof covering thankfully) and the bedding was soaked. Easily washed but...... The back verandah is now blocked off so Fern can only go in the backyard, the dog yard or in the kennel! Hopefully she will get used to wet feet and go where she is supposed to go. Only ever have this problem when the ground is wet and have never had this problem with a dog before. If I take her up the back she runs back to the verandah to pee and I can't get there in time to stop her. Tomorrow when I am home from work I'll put her on a long line when I walk her around the back yard so she can't make the mad dash to dry ground When I'm not home she'll be blocked off.

Sway does the ebay one you put up come with the bits needed for doing the dogs nails? ETA would Mitre 10 have something similar?
