Make sure you check that you aren't voiding any guarantee given by the breeder by feeding a different food to what they recommend.

simple answer is to not walk him there. He won't be sad if he doesn't go, you could find other things for him to do. My dogs love going to the slipping track for a run but they don't go in the height of summer. So for around 4 months they don't get to have a run. Doesn't seem to worry them one iota.

a funny little story from yesterday when the puppies were one week old. Phoebe moved something, a paw or her tail, and one of the little girls was not impressed and let out a growl. The look on Phoebe's face was priceless. It was so much a WTF look as she looked down her nose at them. First growl I had heard but there has already been a bark or two.

Something seems to have switched on in his brain! 2 more successful bottle feeds and a 100 grams weight gain in 24 hrs. "Red" is with his Mum 24/7 except when I steal him

@Mjosa problem is my boy has not been latching on properly to either Phoebe's or the bottle's nipples so I am not sure he would manage the sponge either. And truth be told I am not sure I could manage the sponge, the syringe and the puppy! he is full of vim and vigour in everything but feeding, I am sure I'd drop one of the 3. However it is currently 2.45 am and he has actually had a good feed from the bottle just now as I didn't want to use the tube while half asleep. I do appreciate your advice though and have taken it on board.

Thanks TSD. It's been and still is quite stressful. But I have to say tube feeding is very easy.

babies are a week old today. The 3 brindles are doing well but my little red boy not so much. I've started tube feeding him and he's been vet checked. Quite a feisty bugger but not so good at latching on and staying on, so tube feeding it is.

Raw feeding for pregnancy and lactation?
Rebanne replied to bridgie_cat's topic in Breeders Community
you need to be prepared to change whatever your feeding at the drop of a hat! Phoebe has never been a chow hound but she'd have 1/2 kilo of minced chicken carcasses fro breakfast and 2 cups of dry for tea, with various add ins. None of that was good enough for her when pregnant ( same time as Em, Phoebe's 4 babies are 4 days old ). She lived on Chunkers or dog roll with some cat food thrown in. Now she is on 4 feeds a day but two of those are milky ones - goats milk with icecream or custard added in and an egg once a day. The other two meals are cooked chicken mince. Won't touch raw, Chunkers, dog roll or dry. With a full raw diet I believe you have to be very careful not to overload on calcium. Google would be your friend I think or Raw feeding groups on FB. I don't have any links though as I don't feed full raw and currently not feeding raw at all! -
I've used people stuff on dogs in the past

The awesome foursome. If I remember correctly, green and gold are the girls, copper(orange) and blue the boys. I am a bit brain dead.

Phoebe is doing well. Seems happy to feed the babies. Hasn't cleaned their bums yet. So one red boy, one black brindle girl and 2 red brindles - one boy and one girl

Stressful day. Vet check 1st thing. All ok. Then hear from repo vet that we had to do c section today or lose puppies. Well when the expert speaks we listen an d Phoebe had 5 pups by c section. One cleft pallet so 4 surviving, 2 of each. Phoebe was also speyed as my vet was worried about part of the uterus and excessive bleeding. Phoebe comes first so was happy to spey her. Now home and getting her settled in with her babies

Lost a boy. Cleft. Other 4 doing well and had a feed

5 pups. All well. Phoebe still under. Being spayed, bit of a suspect place on uterus. Vet was worried about bleeding.
