  1. What is his height and can you post a couple of pics of him standing? Side on if possible.
  2. Is he skinny? If he is a true cross of the breeds named I would imagine he is quite underweight. If he is well covered then maybe he is not that cross and the food you are feeding him is fine. But wing tips are nothing for most breeds of dogs, agree with persephone whole carcasses would be much better. I don't like Black Hawk as a food, my dogs don't do well on it but others do. I'd be adding whole eggs, sardines, meaty bones etc to your dog's diet. Lamb flaps are excellent for putting weight on if he needs to do so.
  3. I can't believe that is any way enough food for him. I feed a 31 kilo greyhound a minimum of 600 grams minced chicken carcasses and 2 cups of dry per day. This is really in the wrong forum, I'll ask for it to be moved to the health/nutrition forum where more people will see it.
  4. As I had a lovely bright yellow collar and lead for my GSD many years ago I would never consider yellow meant anything. Red is the warning colour for many things though I also have a lovely red collar and lead set. So I don't pay attention to what colour collar and lead a dog may have on. So many pretty colours. BUT no way would I have let my dog interact with the border collie. The runner's response would have been my clue not the colour of a lead. Though I still wouldn't have let my dog interact.
  5. what involvement does your husband have with the dog? Though it is a big red flag to me she is showing aggression towards him.
  6. so it has opened after 2 1/2 years? I'd be taking the dog to a vet pronto
  7. I've only just seen this. I'm so sorry. I've never written in the rainbow thread. Run free Scottie boy.
  8. There is a FB group. Endurance Test ANKC Several ET's in Vic before end of July
  9. Amstafflover I have requested this post be moved to the General forum.
  10. I and other breeders advertise on Gumtree. If ethical breeders don't advertise where the public look how will they ( the public ) ever know there is an alternative to the BYBer's?
  11. re the colour. Some blues can look brown. In my breed a blue fawn looks like a pale brown. The litter may have been bred on breeders terms which would mean the named breeder (on the papers) is the actual owner of the bitch at least. I breed my dogs at my home, no kennels here, so technically a back yard breeder. The sire was most likely brought form such and such kennels. Much like someone one would say one of mine was from Brantarby rather then my actual name. The date of birth if only out by a couple of days is nothing. Most likely a mistake. Any more then a few days then yes I would be concerned about that. No puppy should be flea ridden but a few here and there is nothing, fleas are everywhere.
  12. Buyers should ask about health tests for both parents and be able to sight any test results. I actually don't like giving a person a list of questions, too easy for them to rehearse the answers. But health tests, what rego papers - main or limited and what dog owning experience they have are the basics. I ask them why the like my breed and to tell me about themselves and family and give them a price and also no one gets a pup until after I have chosen mine. All by email, then go onto phone contact if I like what I read.
  13. If I can just mention this. As a breeder if you wrote the above re family member not for showing etc that would get my back up. Most breeders dogs are family members. Can't help with prices but don't send that
  14. all I can say is that I'm not that type of breeder and I have some concerns with this 1st come 1st served business. I don't know, did you tell them you only wanted a girl? That might be why they said only 2 girls unfortunately. What breed has lilac as a colour anyway? Make sure the parents have had all relevant health tests and make sure you see the papers for them. Make sure the names match up on your pups litter rego to the names on the health certificates. Good luck.
  15. OP just wants us all to say go ahead and kill the dog. Doesn't have the time or energy to report it but has the time and energy to physically stop it.
  16. try your states breed club for starters
  17. found this on an Aussie breeders website. Make sure the Breeder you buy from: 1. Offers a Health Guarantee 2. DNA tests the Sire and Dam for: * Collie Eye Anomoly *Hereditary Cataracts and *MDR1 3. Eye Tests the Litter at 6-8 weeks of age with a Registered Opthamologist 4. Eye tests the Sire & Dam within 12 months of the pups birth 4. Hip Scores both Sire and Dam 5. Supplies a copyof all Health details 6. Verifies the NBT status on the pups Pedigree Paper
  18. Yes I have further thoughts. Why have you not been able to see pictures of the parents? Specially the Mum. Even if it was a frozen semen mating there should be a pic of the sire as well. And what health tests do Aussie's need? Have you sighted any paperwork re health tests on the parents? The dog needs to be properly identified on the paperwork. Pedigree name, number and microchip number.
  19. Why would a vet recommend to get another dog for your dog to have a friend? Are you aware that sometimes a sick dog is attacked by others from it's own pack? Friend of mine had a dog who had a couple of seizures and her other dogs attacked him. For the rest of his life she always kept them seperate if she couldn't directly supervise them.
  20. Rear dew claws are not common but if they do occur are very loose and should be removed. There are a couple of breeds where rear dew claws are part of the standard, they are not removed.
  21. I'd be guided by the breeder for which pup would be the best fit for your family. For instance if pup would be alone during the day while everyone is at work or school then you want the one most likely to cope with that regardless of sex. If there were then a couple that might suit, one of each sex, then it is very much an individual choice. If you decided on a female and the contract says not to desex until after the bitch has had a season can you keep her safe?
  22. I just use a spot on occasionally, usually Advantage. Capstar is good at killing any flea actually on the dog at the time the tablet is given. I usually treat for fleas 2 or 3 times over the warmer months whether I see them or not.
  23. in my experience it will wear off within 24 hrs.
  24. Yes actually thinking of getting some kid ones. Would be so much easier then newspapers under the vet bed
