The breed will survive and they are already "evolved" into a valued companion breed. -

Actually that is incorrect. It is recommended that dogs that are no longer in a breeding program are rehomed or euthanized. Not that they must do so. -
A bitch I bred was shown with stitches at the Sydney Royal some years ago. All was good. I say go for it if you want. I have shown a dog with shaved bits off him.

I'd be feeding them 4 times a day and at least 4 cups of dry plus some raw, minced chicken carcasses, chicken necks, wings, add egg's and sardines and yoghurt a few times a week to the dry food and whatever else takes your fancy. I breed greyhounds so a little bit bigger then labs at the same age. When I say to feed some raw I mean in place of a dry food meal but still 4 feeds a day. Cut back to 3 by 8 weeks so they go to their new homes on 3 feeds. And definitely some large marrow bones scattered around the year for a good old chewing session. I call them my all day gob stoppers  You could also give them some raw carrots, whole, they make great chewies for them. Good as a bone to keep their teeth clean.

Getting the weight off will certainly help, poor baby. No idea if good diet and exercise will correct this but we can all hope. I 2nd RuralPug's request to be kept updated please.

First Dog - What Is Normal For 15 Week Old Puppy?
Rebanne replied to Lusticious's topic in Puppy Chat
I sort of agree with your friend. Your pups training is no where near advanced enough to get high level responses when faced with such a new exciting environment. I'd use the visits just to get him comfortable with going to strange places. I would let him be a puppy. Maybe at the end of the visit you could ask for a minute or two of alone time to do a little work but then you also have a tired puppy. Even dogs trained to a high level for a long time can lose it in a new environment. Obedience clubs are full of people who say "but he does it at home" -
I'd trial the meds as well. I've known an older dog to have idiopathetic epilepsy.

It is thought this petition was got up by a couple of puppy farms and if you sign it you are supporting them. I suppose it depends on how it is presented. This morning I read it was a vet that got it started. Who would know. I *think* VicDogs wants their own petition running. First is completely wrong, second on the right track...........don't believe all you hear!! if the first is completely wrong then VicDOGs is in deep poo because that came from official sources I might be an official source!! Yes you might be which means someone has lied. Not happy with that

Rural City of Wangaratta says: Animal Business Registration The Act requires that all Animal Business Premises must be registered annually. As a pedigree cat breeder I find that offensive. Firstly, average litter size of 4 for cats. Secondly, maximum of 1 litter a year. And thirdly, all my kittens are desexed before they go to their new homes. It's the ferals, and cats at large whose kittens are the ones which majority end up in pounds and shelters! I still don't see why cat people can have 3 cats and dog people can only have one dog.

if I was selling you a pup I would be asking you to wait until at least 12 months of age for a male and after the 1st season for a female.

I would just extract the tooth

you only have to read the subject below this one. Vic dog breeders are in serious trouble if this gets through. -
First Dog - What Is Normal For 15 Week Old Puppy?
Rebanne replied to Lusticious's topic in Puppy Chat
all sounds pretty normal but I would not be picking him up to take him out to the toilet in the middle of the night at 15 weeks. He should be either sleeping through the night or capable of trotting through the house to outside. Do not compare him to working breeds :D Do you leave him alone in the backyard? He might not be checking in with you because you are always there and he knows it. Relax and enjoy him! :D
