  1. They don't even have Greyhounds on there! :D
  2. Thanks Jules. :D Do you know what time it finishes? Are you going? ETA: Never mind, Kate just emailed me back.
  3. Hmm and look at one of the 'breeds' they recommend... :D http://www.pawclub.com.au/Puppy/CommonBree...spx?IdBreed=124 And OMG check this out... Look at the bottom - if you like the Am Staff, you may also like Cocker Spaniels?? Wha?? How do you go from Am Staff to Cocker? LOL! http://www.pawclub.com.au/Puppy/CommonBreeds.aspx?IdBreed=22
  4. Oh yes, I also answered that I only take my dog to the vet when its sick... Bad, bad dog owner. :D
  5. Last week I found a website that listed the workshops running in Nyora, and now I can't find it!! Can anyone tell me what time the workshop is on Sunday? I have emailed Kate but need to know fairly urgently!
  6. Oh dear, I only love my dogs 50%! LOL!! I think I lost points because I use don't use a heartworm injection and because I spend more time grooming myself than my dogs! Ummm my dogs are all short coated and don't need grooming... ROFL!
  7. As well as brushing, you could wipe him down with a damp cloth a few times a day. That will pick up any loose hairs. Also, perhaps consider something like a furminator that will really strip the hair out. Not sure how they work on short haired dogs, but worth looking into.
  8. I don't really have any advice, but you definitely COULD shave him if you wanted. As much as I wouldn't normally recommend it, as a last resort, it can be a lifesaver. I used to shave a Labrador for health reasons - number 10 all over and hey presto, no more shedding.
  9. http://news.ninemsn.com.au/national/812226...-baffles-locals That animal is CLEARLY a brush tail possum that has been dead for a long time!! Its only bald because the hair has sloughed off in the water.
  10. ;) ;) OMG I seriously have tears in my eyes at this one!! ROFL!!
  11. Fair enough for people to comment on whether or not the pup is show quality, but geez some people are just mean on this forum. Was it really necessary to tell the woman her dog is not cute? Far out. Its a puppy. All puppies are cute. That was just rude and has nothing to do with the quality or otherwise of the dog. FWIW, I think he is very cute.
  12. I have been doing some basic obedience with Dash and she is learning so quickly. She now does the fastest automatic sits I've ever seen LOL, drops (and stays down 99% of the time), heels nicely, and we are now working on stay and come. I want to work on 'stand' next, but she is so quick with her sits I'm not sure how to do stands!
  13. Not a racing area Greytmate. :D And it wasn't so much the kids that amused me, but more the parents letting their kids run up. I did speak to a few parents AFTER it happened and none of them knew that all Greys had to be muzzled. One even told their child it was 'because they are often snappy' - AFTER she let her child pat it! LOL!
  14. Also, just so you know, there is no such thing as a solid black or solid blue stafford. Even ones that LOOK solid are genetically brindle.

    Harry

Oh my gosh huga, I am so sorry. I always loved seeing photos of Harry, he was definitely a one in a million dog. Sending you and your family big hugs. RIP Harry.
  16. I took Pia with me to collect my son from school, and afterwards we went to the playground. Pia has to be muzzled because she is not GAP tested (yet) but she is the sweetest dog you'll ever meet. Anyway, I thought the muzzle would deter people, but nup! I had so many kids come RUNNING up to her wanting to pat her, while their parents sat miles away watching on!! I told every one of them to stop, explained how to approach a dog, etc. They were all nice enough kids, just had no idea about dogs. Pia LOVED all the attention. Seriously though, surely if you saw a muzzled dog you would tell your kids to stay away from it, or at LEAST ask the owner first!! I must say though, I was very impressed with three kids who obviously had good parents - they slowly walked up and asked if they could pat her, then offered their hand, and patted her. I made sure I told them how clever they were.
  17. I'm certainly no expert Vickie, but I believe it is a learnt behaviour from her previous home, because she is actually quite pushy as well. I'll give you some examples to try and explain it better. If you walk up to her, she will roll over and show her belly. If you scold her, she flips over on her back. I will not pat her or acknowledge her unless she is sitting up though and she is learning this very quickly. But if I am playing with another dog, she will push in between us. Also, if you are sitting on the ground she will repeatedly push into your hands, try and climb on your lap, etc even if you push her away and say 'no'. She is good with all of my dogs except the oldest bitch. She is not nasty with her, she just wants to hassle her. She is very sensitive to correction (just raising your voice will make her stop whatever she is doing). She pretty much heels perfectly offlead simply because she is so focussed on people. She is definitely a 'people' dog rather than a dog dog, IYKWIM.
  18. http://news.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=8119547 A West Australian woman has been banned from ever owning a pet after she pleaded guilty to killing a puppy by repeatedly throwing it against a wall. Tracie Marie Beal was sentenced in Mandurah Magistrates Court on Thursday for ill treating an animal. The 28-year-old Mandurah woman had admitted that on the night of January 19 she was given a small, six-week old puppy by a friend. Beal then took the puppy home and after a short time she became upset and repeatedly threw it against a wall, killing the animal. A magistrate banned Beal from ever being in charge of a pet and ordered her to undergo a nine-month community based order under supervision. She was also ordered to pay nearly $1000 in costs to the RSPCA.
  19. Haha I need the same t-shirt Tamara, except mine would say '4 dogs and 6 cats'. The one that I found funny was people thinking that Greyhound puppies would be like baby couch potatoes - nup, they are just as active and naughty as any other puppy! Pia is 15mths old now and is just settling into couch potato mode. But I shouldn't complain, because if certain people had not had such expectations, we would not have ended up with her.
  20. The fluffy Pei looks like a Chow. I have met a long haired Mastiff - she was about 80kg and really fluffy! LOL! Very cool dog. She was pedigree with papers, apparently they just pop up every now and then. I own a fawnequin Great Dane (although I think she is actually a fawn merle with white, not fawn harlequin). She is also from a (dodgy) reg'd breeder. As a sad puppy:
  21. He is just GORGEOUS Tamara! Absolutely stunning!
  22. Thanks everyone. It was a horrible decision to make - I've never had to have an animal PTS for behavioural reasons and it was really awful.
  23. She was a gorgeous girl. Sending you big hugs. RIP Phoenix.
