Sorry, but if it was my dog I would not be happy with that.

Happy Birthday Grumpy!! What a handsome man you are.

Was he knocked out when they looked in his ears? I mean, they can only see so far so perhaps there is something really deep. Ear infections or ear mites are probably the most common reasons for head shaking.

Anyone Else Get Emotional As Your Dog Gets Older?
Kirty replied to Muttaburra's topic in General Dog Discussion
My oldies are 10 and 11 this year and you wouldn't know it. But in the last 6-12mths, Champa's face has suddenly started to get grey hairs and Maisie has stiffened up a bit. I forget that they are getting on in years, and its upsetting when you realise that you are on the downward slope now. Having said that, I am pretty sure that Champa is going to live forever just to spite me! LOL! -
Cook book has arrived, just waiting on the calendar now!

Oh dear.

It never ceases to amaze me how stupid people can be. Last year there were two dogs tied up outside my chiropractor and they were going off their nut at everyone who walked past! And they were not mucking around - they would have bitten someone if they got close enough. They were blocking 80% of the path. The stupid owner was in having an adjustment and just ignored their behaviour!!
-
Oh bugger. I could probably have the cats here short-term if necessary.
-
They are very heavy too, probably not great for lugging around schools. There was a sheep at our local nursery which I am pretty sure was made by them, and it was from memory $3000!!

I'm so sorry Gayle.

My dogs are indoors when we are home and outdoors when we are not. All four of my dogs can be destructive (two in particular!) so there is no way I could leave them unsupervised in the house.

Thanks guys. Can I buy it from a health food store?

I'd be getting her eyes tested by a specialist. There could be something going on that is affecting her vision in poor light.
-
Ooh good idea. I think I have one tucked away somewhere. Thanks.

My new foster has a nasty case of Kennel Cough. He has thick, mucousy discharge from his nose and he is coughing a lot. The vet has prescribed ABs and I've got some Benedryl, but is there anything else I can do to make him feel more comfortable? Or any home remedies to help with the coughing? He is warm and resting, but I feel so sorry for him.

Ooh interesting - they are like multi-coloured Yorkies! How cute!
-
The cat one is way better because you can customise everything - face shape, ear shape, markings, etc. Be cool if you could do that with the dog one too.
-
My OH is not really into the animals. He tolerates them and plays with them occasionally, but thats it. I wish he was into the animals like I was so we could do stuff with the dogs together.
-
My point is though, that you can label things as much as you want, and define things as much as you want - but its all pointless. People don't get 'confused' by registered vs registered - they don't care!!

I'll tell you what the problem is - the general public don't give a shit. I have lost count of the number of people who have come to me (being the relative/friend who is into animals) and asked where they should buy a puppy/kitten from. I give them links to DOL, ANKC, breed clubs, rescue groups, etc. I explain about puppy farms and pet shops - and 2 weeks later they are calling to tell me all about their pet shop puppy or kitten. I'm so over it. Just last week a friend called to tell me that her Mum was buying a pet shop CKCS - I don't want to know about it! These people are not stupid, they do not lack education - they lack patience, they lack restraint and they lack the ability to comprehend how frickin selfish they are being. And guess who then gets called in 6, 12, 18 months when the cat/dog has got issues...
-
I can only foster young dogs/puppies because of my other animals. But happy to help if you get any young ones.

Lots of female dogs in our families and none have ever been incontinent (except for our old Kelpie x who became incontinent at night when she was about 15). Desexing ages range from 10 weeks (Pia) to 2 years.

Liverpool Road Retarding Basin Snake Warning
Kirty replied to JulesP's topic in General Dog Discussion
Thanks for the warning. I've never been there because I was told it was on-lead only - obviously nobody listens to that! LOL! I think it used to be off-lead until very recently. Its only 5 mins from my house though, so if the snakes are there, they'll be everywhere. -
If you called out of hours, that would probably have been the vet you were speaking to. Nurses don't generally man the out-of-hours lines.
