I'm so sorry. That is just awful. RIP little babies.

Clipper rash is quite common unfortunately so it could be that. If she is pulling at her stitches, perhaps a E-collar would be best. She does sound uncomfortable, which is understandable as its a very invasive procedure for a female dog. But within a few days, the pain should settle and she should feel better. Keep her nice and quiet (indoors if possible) and don't let her run around too much. Give her a day or so more and if she is still acting strangely, take her to a different vet for a second opinion.

I am so sorry about your dog. I think its OK for the kids to hope that she might come back, because it is entirely possible. I think a new dog would be a nice idea though. Perhaps you could adopt a rescue puppy - they do come up quite often in rescue. Perhaps take the kids along to meet some homeless dogs/puppies and explain that these dogs really need a home. Perhaps they could give a home to the puppy and if/when your other dog comes home, they can all be friends? I rescue cats and recently rehomed a kitten that my kids really loved. They were really upset when he left for his new home. It has been about 4 months now, but my 6yo still talks about the kitten almost daily.

Thanks for the replies. becks, its possible. She is a very timid dog and sits down when you approach, so I don't often get a good look at her rear end! LOL! Stolz, she has hardly any coat already and I haven't noticed any drop.

My Dane had her first season a few months ago. I put the date in my phone - and then accidentally killed my phone. I want to book her in for desexing but about 3 weeks ago, her vulva seemed a bit swollen so I put it off. It has stayed swollen but hasn't progressed to a season. It is nowhere near as swollen as when she was in season. Is she possibly coming into season? I think her first season was about 3 months ago so I'm thinking not, but I don't want to open her up and find she is in. Are there any other signs that a dog is coming into season?
-
No, definitely not pregnant. She is an absolute guts and eats her food like nothing else... But tonight she just nibbled at it - ate maybe 3 tablespoons? - and then threw it all back up. She is feeling very sore and sorry for herself.

My foster Dally was desexed today and has recovered pretty well from the anaesthetic. She is a bit 'proppy' but I suspect that is due to pain rather than the drugs. I just gave her a small meal and she threw it all back up. I know dogs can vomit after surgery, but should I try and feed her again later? Wait until tomorrow? I always worry about blood sugar levels after fasting. There was also a whole empty Whiskas sachet in her vomit so the puke may have been due to that rather than the anaesthetic? Suggestions appreciated please!! Oh and we got her just in time. No external signs, but she was definitely coming into season judging by her uterus.

If she was closer, I'd grab her. I hope someone can take her in and assess her.

I love Rescue Ink. They are just amazing people. Paris Hilton might be telling people to adopt from rescue, but isn't she letting her chi's breed like rabbits at her house? And how many pets has she gone through! Seriously, not someone I want involved in rescue.

I was flicking channels yesterday and there was a case on Judge Judy about a woman who bought a 'teacup chihuahua' from a guy and the dog turned out to be about 10kg and nothing like a chi. She paid top dollar apparently for this 'teacup chi' and was suing the breeder for selling her a crossbred. The whole story was ridiculous - she met the guy at a carpark, dogs were not papered, etc - but no warning bells went off? I missed the end but I think JJ was going to rule in favour of the puppy buyer. I am glad the 'breeder' lost his money, but at the same time, I feel like the idiot buyer should not have gotten it back! How stupid can you be! And a teacup chi? What the hell? Are they not small enough?

Cool! They are very nice steps. Now use them little doggies!

I wasn't having a go at you koala, I was annoyed at the vet. In your case, there were special circumstances so it sounds like the dogs best interests were at heart. But I know of several cases where animals with obvious ringworm were desexed or vaccinated. Its just stupid. Sorry, I get annoyed about stuff like that. If you ever read a vaccination pamphlet, it clearly says only vaccinate healthy animals - yet most vets will vaccinate anything with a pulse. The same goes for desexing. Sorry, rant over.

I am so sorry for your loss. I firmly believe there is some sort of afterlife and I also know that my departed pets are still around me. RIP Rusky.

I am so sorry Nic. That was a beautiful tribute for a very special dog. RIP gorgeous Ray.

That's actually disgusting that a vet would desex an animal with ringworm. Ringworm often flares up in animals when their immune system is compromised - they might be sick, going through a growth spurt or stressed, etc. Desexing an animal with ringworm is just stupid. It is risky for other patients in the clinic and will delay healing in the affected animal. I have had ringworm several times in foster kittens and I use systemic meds and betadine to clear it up. I use F10 on their cages, etc and throw out bedding weekly. It usually takes about 6 weeks to be totally clear of ringworm and you should keep treating for AT LEAST one week after symptoms resolve. Ringworm usually appears as bald, sometimes scaley, sometimes red round patches. The most common place for an outbreak is the feet and face. A UV light will show up one form of ringworm (the most common - microsporum canis) but a skin scraping is needed to be sure it is not one of the other types of ringworm.

Dog Dna Proves Gold Coast Council Made Wrong Breed Id

A pitbull perhaps?? -
Read the links KelpieKaye. I suspect that the severe effects are not very common at all, but the stories are very exciting and spread like wildfire. Someone on this forum was bitten by a White Tail not long ago and she had no ill effects. Huntsmen spiders and Daddy Long Legs also eat other spiders, but they are harmless. And yes, Daddy Long Legs CAN bite and NO they are not the world's most deadly spider. Their bite is harmless.

Glad the dogs were returned, but Boston x GR??? -
It doesn't mean you need to kill every spider you see. Some people get bitten by dogs - should we kill all of those in case one of them bites someone? I know its 'just a spider', but its just trying to do its thing. I hate reckless killing.

Argh this is so annoying! White tail spiders are not the evil beasts everyone thinks. They SOMETIMES carry a bacteria on their fangs that affects SOME people and obviously SOME animals. Lots of other spiders carry the bacteria too. http://www.toxinology.com/about/white_tail...ider_bites.html http://www.avru.org/compendium/biogs/A000024b.htm

My friend lives on acerage and they used one of those electric containment systems. It is fantastic! He has free range of about 3 acres but cannot get into the paddocks or on the road. Its brilliant. The collar is quite chunky but apparently the company have recently upgraded so the new collars are much more streamlined. It was fairly expensive I think, but worth it obviously. I guess if you did the collar up quite loosely, it would be able to slip off if the dog got caught on something.

She is looking great! We are making slow progress with Tilly. As you say, its two steps forward, one step back. She seems to have good days and bad days. She hoovers her food like nothing I have ever seen before. She eats like a crocodile - she opens her mouth soooooo wide and just vacuums it up... She is not at ALL food aggressive though. I have been putting my hands in her bowl to slow her down! She eats alongside the other dogs and when they finish, they all swap bowls. She now sleeps in the cubby with my dogs and is not crated at all anymore. And no poo on the deck for about 3 days now! Woohoo! She is very good on the lead 90% of the time and LOVES going for walks. Every now and then she panicks if you grab her collar or lead, but she has never shown any indication that she will bite. She comes racing up and jumps all over you for cuddles, but then runs off again. She can't quite let go of that fear yet. But we'll get there. I will get some new photos soon. Woodbyne, did Tilly have a litter?

This Is Really Weird, I Have No Idea What Is Going On?
Kirty replied to MrsD's topic in General Dog Discussion
You say he is next to your bed - could you have accidently trodden on him getting out of bed or something? -
I only vaccinated against it once, and a month later both dogs got it. So I don't bother anymore. Anyway, Tilly hasn't coughed since so perhaps it was something else? Maybe its just this cold air? Very odd.

He lost me when he promoted getting a kitten from Pets Paradise.
