Once you have a dog that was 'designed' for routine work (i.e gundog or herding breed) you can't go too far wrong. BC's are obviously the number one choice for the general population due to (in my own expirence I have found) thier willingness to do one activity agian and again. However if you look at the competitors at international or even top US agility competitions you will find a variety of breeds. I have seen a GSD run mediocre at a comp then under a different handler put in a brilliant run. Half of it is attitude .

The Western Classic is just a big dog show with international judges for confirmation. They also have all the dog sports on over the weekend too on the bottom oval. It is on evenings from 6pm Febuary 6 to March 1st Can someone please tell me more about this?? Or share a website link? Pretty please ..

Byron Wants To Know! What Breed Am I?
RallyValley replied to Skruffy n Flea's topic in General Dog Discussion
More like pay for the BITSA test if you would like a laugh. The results of this test are pretty unaccurate and unless he is an F1 cross they won't be able to tell you much -
Stongrace Perth Training and Obidience Dog Club has small groups for training and the instructor will go through an exercise one on one with all the other class members training on practice equipment or playing/resting thier dogs. But it isnt at the Canine Centre its in Ashfield Bassendean on Friday evenings.

I would love to take you up on that offer ST ;) . I will be first of the gundogs so I will be there nice and early and can get us a good spot by the gundog ring! Plus then I get to meet your OES and see Ari again.
-
Mirawee- Me and Toby will be at agility next term, we will be in the beginners class though. Mim- From memeory the oval at Midland was quite well lit. Lab Rat and Amypie- Lincoln will be there Saturday and Sunday and available for cuddles most the night . He is first up in the gundog group (unless someone has a brittany) so will be free most the evening. BnB- Nice to see you here! Will you and your Wei's be at the classic? You and Winnie qualified for puppy of the year didn't you? Has it been yet? Nic c- In Chesapeake's its just called brown (or light/dark brown) I think he will turn out dark brown. His eyes are yellow and will stay that way (hopefully)

It at Jack Mann Oval in Midland on Tuesdays. I went briefly last year with Toby, it didn't suit us personally. Christine I will look forward to meeting Duke and if you want I will help you clip Kate's nails again . Where is that held?
-
Well ST I can join you in that . With my breed and my handling skills (i.e none yet) I would be very ambitious to think I will get a prize.
-
BB the club membership is $40 per year and training is $2 per night. I have to ring up and find out if you just rock up on the first night. ST I would do beginners obidience from the start, it never hurts to revise old stuff and it will make you look like such a great trainer to have taught your dog so quick . Toby is going back to beginners because I have spent too much time on agility and neglected the basics.

Kingsmeadow, Hill St, Guildford it is only 4 sessions in a row then one every second month(ish). If you are interested Tiggy I can forward you the details also. I didn't know you had gundogs.

My only advice since you have not personally owned multiple dogs is borrow 3 dogs (which will still be less workload then 2 puppies) for a day and try to train/walk/play/pet/groom/feed them seperatley and see how it goes. Even better would be to borrow dogs that are not housetrained and keep them in your house, that is pretty good practice .

Here is a taster, one more photo to come . They mostly come out blurred... so they aren't great.

Thanks Mirawee. Yeah Mundaring is good that they allow more dogs for larger blocks (i.e I can have 3 dogs) but it will probably become an issue for me in a couple of years when I want to start adding to my pack .They are very slow with paperwork though, Toby was registered till over a year because they 'never got' our letters/e-mail/phone call asking for them to send us the paperwork to fill in.

BB Perth Training and Obidience Dog Club offer Obidience classes at Raphael Park in Vic Park. On 7.30-8.30 Wednesday evenings starting back on the 3rd of Febuary. Me and Toby will be there at beginners class (and Lincoln will be there visiting until term 2 )

Why Don't People Pick Up After Their Dogs At Shows?
RallyValley replied to TessnSean's topic in General Dog Discussion
I am SOOOO glad that my breed is not a coated breed, and his coat is supposed to feel oily so bathing him the week of the show will not be on too. -
Wattle Grove Vet sent me 3 Vaccination notices for a dog that had been in an accident and they put to sleep. They just send you reminder letter after reminder letter for annual vaccs, or steralisation notice after steralisation notice after I told them NO - He is a showdog!

Nah bb its Dr Chad. My mum even changed a booking once to go when Dr. Chad was in! Stalker much!

What Are You Working On With Your Dogs.
RallyValley replied to whitka's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Toby: A reliable recall. Lincoln: Stacking and gaiting. -
One of the best things I have found is that they listen to your opinions and don't ever push the products they sell unless you ask about a product. They also aren't afraid to recommend natural remedies. Mum always makes me get a bit dressed up when I go because she has a crush on a certain male vet and wants me to marry him.

I used to live in HV estate and used to go to school in Lesmurdie. I still visit Kalamunda often because my hairdresser and cousin are up there.

I assume it was because entire dogs are more likely to fight then desexed dogs. Just curious about what led you to this comment?

CnR I live on Helena Valley Rd so you probably drive past my house everyday . It's nice to know there are some DOL'ers out this way.
