  1. My mistake Mirawee She is only Associate registered so she can do agility :D As said, parti coloured poodles can not be registered on the main or limit registries. But they do exist
  2. I have had a couple of excellent quality photobooks done at Snapfish, but never just photos.
  3. Sounds like a good idea . But probably a non dog meet (well I wouldn't bring Toby, he is a bit afraid of horses after one broke his leg)
  4. There is a brown and white parti poodle at my agility training which is limit registered.
  5. That is adorable. I might just take you up on that one day, we can trade I can come and visit your horses and you can bring Banjo to come play with the sheep. ;)
  6. They are so cute mirawee. I miss horses and riding ;) . I only only ever owned standardbreds though cause they were freebies and that was my budjet.
  7. I will comment you all on Flickr ;) Here is my Lincoln photo, Toby's is on my camera whose battery is charging.
  8. You could always bring Banjo to a conformation show and practice in the lunch break, that would be pretty similar to an obidience trial right? Or is it the judge being there that would help?
  9. I don't think the problem is ever people not knowing what breed the dog is. The problem is when people tell you that it IS y (e.g a maremma is a golden ) breed and you go "sorry actually hes a maremma" and they try and tell you how its not. (Maremma just popped into my head, no particular reason)
  10. I wish everyone knew that Huski . Back in the 90's we had a prong collar that we used on our girl, but I was a child and couldnt use it properly so we brought a Halti -headcollar, so there was no chance of me unintentionally hurting her. People used to think she was so vicious wearing 'a muzzle' . I must admit that is my only expirence of them and the memory is probably tainted by me being so young. Apologies to the OP as that did come across as a bit rude.
  11. I agree to an extent but some of these devices are only a bandage and not a solutuion.
  12. Probably I'm just in a bad mood. However I will say to the OP that show classes are more liberal about training tools and many have an obidience component.
  13. Same thing here Erin.. but when he has it in his mouth he holds his head up and runs really proud (contemplating an invisible lead...)
  14. No. Even choke collars are banned from most clubs I have been to. You may have to have one on one training until you wean your dog into a normal collar. I also had a dog with a similar issue to the one you descibe with your shepard, I took 3 months just working on this issue using positive reinforcement. I taught my dog a watch command and rewarded him for watching me, slowly building up the stimulus from just being in a room with my other dog, to being at a park with the smell of strange dogs to being 300,200,100m away and kept building up, just rewarding him for focusing on me. Now he trains at agility offlead with many dogs in high drive around, I did not need to bully my dog into paying attention to me.
  15. My dog was 6 and my old girl 11 when he died in an accident. She never pined and seemed to enjoy beng on her own, however when we finally got another dog he bonded to her instantly Now she is getting unwell so adding another one to the brood has been great, if she passes the two will have each other
  16. My fav thing about my vets is that they don't assume they know more about my dogs then me. We talk about treatments in terms of what will suit the dog, not what a textbook says. One vet even recommended ditching biscuts in favour of raw . My old girl had a cardiac arrest the last time she was put under (at 10 and at another vet) and when I expressed this concern to my vets they really worked around that to find another treatment. I am on first name terms with 3 of the vets since Toby broke his leg and was there every week for a couple of months. The absolute best thing they have done for me is that the vet took the time to research Chesapeake Bay Retrievers and was well informed when I walked through the door with Linclon for my appointment (who she loved even though he peed 3 times and did a poo ;) )
  17. I can only expect to hear all about my how my Chesapeake Bay Retriever is a lab x in years to come ;) I have already had my doubters, once when I was ringing up to find out about a puppy kindy I told them I was getting a Chesapeake Bay Retriever and there was silence then "Are you sure thats a breed? I've never heard of it." "Yes because you define dog breeds" (What I felt like saying) Needless to say Lincoln is going to puppy kindy elsewhere ;)
  18. Anyone know who won Puppy of the Year? (Do they have Dog of the Year here too)
  19. What about Black Beauty (he was a gelding). I am so useless, Tarnished Silver is a black colour. Can the black be implied?
  20. I kinda feel like changing mine, but I think it's stuck I want to change it to be obviously Chesapeake but I might just wait till I (one day) get a prefix and make it that. (I just realised that my sig looks photo shopped but it's not :D )
  21. ------ the New Black (as in when people say "did you know green is the new black this season )
  22. Such a dad thing to do ;) Tiggy I didn't realise you were in Perth metro, where are your staffords from? My bro has found a breeder he likes and is on a waiting list for a potential mating in June/July but I am trying to find out some stuff to help him before he gets the dog, which he just wants for a pet (I would love to have another dog to show but he won't let me ). :D

  24. Thats ok, Chessie and choc Lab's look similar.. And there are 1000's of Kelpie x's around. Lincoln isn't even 12 weeks and I won't be taking him to really public places like that until he is 17 weeks at least. (But he will be going to show class and shows before 17 weeks) It would have been more embarrasing if you had gone up and said 'hi valleywa'
  25. It wasn't me. I have been home all day because I am trying to write a selection criteria. Plus puppy is unwell because he has been eating sand, so he is not going outside for a while.
