  1. I took Toby to his first obidience class last night, was pleasantly suprised, we are in advanced! Still work to do though like stand and gluing him to my left. Lincoln has show class tonight. He is going to be a terror :D . He hates being hand stacked unless he is sleepy/very full.
  2. The lady that owns the other Chessie also has a Toller so maybe they will bring her down to the Classic. I have been in contact with her and shes going to come say hi to me and Lincoln at the show. CnR will you be at the gundog ring at the Western Classic? I mean Tollers (and Chessies) are a bit stand offish compared to Goldens Labs and Flats right?
  3. Cider is a very cute girl . Tollers are a bit stand offish aren't they Ptolomy? Maybe at the Western Classic I can try to introduce Lincoln to one.
  4. Toby loves Rottweilers because our neighbours dog is one. Lincoln is a snob of all dogs except his family, at 12 weeks it is very cute to see him telling off puppies who get in his face. Will have to see how Lincoln reacts to other dogs he will meet once he starts showing.
  5. I am thinking of maybe bringing Lincoln to the Puppy Foundation class after the March enrolment, but I might take him to obidience instead. Do they use clickers or allow use of clickers at the ACWA training?
  6. The 'choclate' variety of Labs apparently comes from Chessie outcrosses . You know you want one. I dunno why I like the chocolate labs - probably the colour :p I will def be up for Labrador cuddles, any doggy cuddles really!! Rat
  7. That would be great CnR Lincoln went to the vet today for his 12 week booster and was very brave, he was also adored by all the vet nurses who came out to say hi.
  8. I thought that Midland had stopped holding agility classes since the shed burnt down? I live in that area and go to Perth Training and Obidience Dog Club in Ashfield. Midland Dog Training has beginners agility but your dog would have to be 12 months old because they don't have the puppy class like the ACWA. Midland has obedience Tuesdays and agility/dances with dogs Thursdays. :D
  9. Anyone going to the Best of Winners evening on March 20th? And is anyone's dog up for 'Best of Winners'?
  10. I think for some rarer breeds it is quite necessary to campaign your dog and get people thinking about the breed, reading about it ect.
  11. He is looking just great. That sucks about no shows till march. I am waiting till end of Feb for my first show and starting to get impatient.
  12. Toby thinks he is a toy. They love playing. I might bring him down to visit a show closer to the Western Classic but he isn't entered before then because I don't think we will be ready. He is 12 weeks next week so he start show classes on Thursday nights.
  13. Thats a shame boxagirl. You will still have to come say hi to Lincoln though . I hope that Bondi is feeling better soon. I will let them know at agility about her.
  14. My main turn off would have been people pronouncing the name wrong. I am consideing Nisinikitis as my prefix (if I ever get around two it) which is two greek words put togther. Then I could always have a greek theme to follow the prefix .
  15. As you all may/may not know I named my Chesapeake Lincoln because I wanted an American name for him since he is an American breed. However I come from a Greek/Italian/Slovenian and really like some names from these countries. Do you think it's odd for a breed to have a name from a different counntry (e.g a Blue Heeler called Fiorella)?
  16. Oh no! How is the new puppy going? Lincoln is home and naughty. :D His first show will be the Western Classic which should be interesting. has your little boxer guy made his show ring debut yet? I don't think I'll be returning with Bon for awhile if ever She has injured her hip and was limping on it, now she has an inflamed hip/muscle. I'm just going to concentrate on obedience with her (and wolf) and hopefully get her CCD
  17. I don't know if Toby will ever make it, cause if I move out he has to stay with my parents and cause if his past leg injury he is likely to get arthritis so I am limited in my practice of jumping and I'm not sure about him and the A-Frame. I am thinking of just training him as a jumpers dog.
  18. I'm mentally blocking out the fact me and Toby return to agility next week. We have been having recall issues that I was supposed to work at over the summer but havent. Think I can proof Toby's recall in 1 week?
  19. Just in case anyone was interested here is a pic of my fav Chesapeake BIS Am/Can CH Silvercreek Remington Steele JH WD (also the first BIS winner to have a retrieving title) . Remy was also a therapy dog and I am sure he would have gone on to further acclaim if he hadn't tragically died ages only 5 .
  20. Jazzyjules pardon my ignorance but are show and race greyhounds different lines? Or can dogs be cross registered.
  21. As my breed supposedly started with two newfs I have nothing but praise for these dogs. Many un-educated people think big dog = lazy dog or fluffy dog = lazy dog, and newfs are both.
  22. Gundogs and herding breeds are the easiest to train. If Labs and Goldens were so hard to train why are they used as service dogs?
  23. I will be going to Perth Royal with my Chesapeake who is a very dark brown, almost the same colour as a choc lab. So I am just sure I will hear about my lab all day. I must have made peoples days as a kid at a royal because I could recognise almost all ANKC breeds, so I would get rare breeds right (no wonder people were always so friendly to me )
