  1. I am so sorry this happend and glad that both you and your dogs are well and safe. I would definatley invest in an alarm if you can my motto is make it difficult for them best of luck snowball
  2. My 8 month old goldie has just started eating some lamb necks. She regulary gets chicken carcass, but I wanted to get something bigger for her to start to chew more, she is a chewer No last week she vomited in the night, this was after having had some lamb necks in the daytime. This week no bones all week until today, she had 2 lamb neck pieces in the morning and then vomited at 4.00. I dont know if it is a conicidence or not? can bones make dogs vomit? She was at the vet today to check her anal glands re a earlier post about her smelling metallic and licking herself LOTS and chasing her tail LOTS. Vet said all appeared well, no temp, anal glands didnt look swollen, but he expressed them and the smell seemed to same when he brough her back Anyway, she could have eaten anything and everything , she is typcial goldie and we find all sorts of stuff she shouldnt eat in her mouth, but just wondering about the bones? Snowball
  3. Thanks all, will book her into the Vets.
  4. Thanks everyone. well not something I would have guessed, I am new to the wonderful world of dog ownership. She is only 8 months old, so would that still be the case? Hmm, have to read up about this. thanks Snowball
  5. Our goldie vomited a week ago durning the night, the next morning all appeared well. I think (or thought) at the time she probably swallowed something she shouldnt have) She smelled terribly metallic afterwards for a few days, we put it down to the vomit and gave her a good bath. it seemed to get better, but she is slowly starting to smell metallic again. It could possibly be comming from her saliva when she licks her fur and then the fur has a metallic smell about it. She has also been chasing her tail like crazy and licking her bits a lot. She is desexed, has been wormed just under a month ago, due next week. Not sure if the last bits are related, but they have cropped up recently. I do have a sensitive nose, so not sure what is going on, can metallic smell be related to anything? Dont wont to rush off to a vet and be told it is nothing iywkim Thanks Snowball
  6. Lighting a candle is a wonderful idea to think about Jed. What a wonderful tradition to remember and think about loved ones and friends Snowball
  7. It is disgusting to give away a dog or other pet as a prize. It would turn me off the product completely. Vile
  8. She looks adorable. What great colours
  9. he he, my husbands kickname for our goldie is "expensive", after chewing up various bits of the garden, floorboard, furniture, digging holes in the back and having surgery for swallowing something she shouldnt, buying various pet accessories and building a doggy run, ,,...... it seems to ring true. lucky she is so cute
  10. Yeah - a step in the right direction. I hope the other states pass similiar laws soon. I so miss the central europen way where your dog can go everywhere, shops, cafes, trains
  11. Very disturbing, and if it was me I would be scared of my own saftey. It sounds like the family is being targetted by some weirdo. I just cant understand these cases of cruelty, animal or human.
  12. No excuse for such actions - scary stuff
  13. All my thoughts are with Jed and family. Good to read some positive updates
  14. So cute, but yep, that has got to be a misprint. My 8 month old is nearly 23kg,
  15. Wow, beautiful photos. What a great memory of your dog to have
  16. hmmm, as much as I would love the morning walk and could do with the excercise, it just isnt going to happen with a 5 year old in tow, he is tired enough from normal school stuff without being dragged around the streets in the morning. oh dear, I think I am getting a wee bit overwhelmed...... I have been steadily trying to build up the time she spends in the dog run and giving her her treats in there to get her used to it, but she had good sook (sp?) today when she was in there. Lucky she is soooo adorable, as dear me she is a bundle of hard work...
  17. I must admit, I am starting to get more worried about leaving my dog at home for work, then my 5 year old for after school care - ( I dont know wether to laugh or cry about that one ) OK, what sort of bones are safe to leave with a goldie (7 months ) all day? I will need the exact name to ask the butcher , at the moment she has chicken carcass daily and loves that, but that is gone in 10 min or so, so not exactly the chewing bone type. I am getting a new doggy house for her (as per my other thread), and am half expecting it to be eaten by the time I get home from work. I am soooo scared she will start to whine and howl, as her fence line is near the neighbours house, I will warn them and tell them what is going on, but I dont want to become one of those annoying neighbours with a noise dog ..... oh dear, maybey I just need to stay home full time to look after my dog... hmmm, pity that doest pay the bills :D Snowball
  18. excercising sounds great, but not practical with a 5 year old before school. My husband leaves very early for work, so we do our walks in the evenning (short distance because of her age and breed). Some obedience sounds good - will do that, but any safe chew ideas would be good She loves to chew!! Snowball
  19. HI I am starting work soon part-time and need ideas for keeping a 8 month old goldie occupied. She will be in a secure run. I have purchased a Kong ( need to figure out how to use it properly), but what else will keep her stimulated. She loves to chew and will chew anything, (therefore the dog run ) Any advice, hints, tips, ideas of what to buy and links would really help many thanks Snowball
  20. Thanks everyone, lots to think about and research.... best get to it. Snowball
  21. Thanks so much. The kids cubby house idea is perfect. Space to move around whilst protected from the wind/rain and sun. The dog run is in a hot side of the house with pavers, so this should work really well. Will call suppliers on Monday This is going to be one spoilt dog, talk about a super duper kennel. :D :D
  22. Hi Thanks, they look lovely. But we are after a bit bigger, double that in size, so she really has room to move around and keep off the cold pavers in winter and stay in the shade in summer. But will check out those links further. Thanks heaps Snowball
