  1. Poodles were originally water retrievers. In the USA and UK they can compete in field trials, but not in Australia.
  2. Some of the clubs and officials need to accept the ANKC changes about showing Neuters. There are no class in Group and Show cards available for the clubs to purchase, that is why they are not offered. Cranbourne Dog Club just changed an Open in Grp card for our boy when he won Neuter in Grp, doesn't worry us when a nice sash is won. We would have been very disappointed obout no in show award, I hope the VCA rep was informed. We find it insulting to our dogs when treated like second class entries, same entry fee is paid so they should be judges as such. One show did all the General Specials, stopped and took photos with the judge, then decided to judge Neuter in Show, after nearly everyone had gone and did not want a Neuter in show photo, even after taking photos af all other classes.
  3. Sir sniffalot... same deal with us! Except we are only taking two.
  4. We have recently arrived home after the Noorat shows. Our boy Ch. Ahornstreets Vallimont (Std Poodle)BOB x 5 and Runner up BIG and Intermediate IG Sun AM show under Poodle specialist Ms D. Cozart(WA). Very happy with him. Had a good time at the shows, but the fies were terrible and the rings uneven and lots of dry cowpats, hard to stop some of the dogs from sniffing their way around the ring. Hi Blackbelgian, there were 3 Schipps shown at all 5 shows. NZ import Jack BOB at 4 shows and a Bateauchien bitch BOB x 1.
  5. It is on the Dogs Victoria calender for Sunday 18th March.
  6. Just received our Sat numbers, there is a change of Grp 1 Judge and General Specials for the AM show Mrs Dickson-Franks (NSW).

  9. Anymore people coming to Mt Gambier? HOpe the weather isn't hot. Yes I do realise it is ages away :)
  10. Freya is obsessed with blowfies! Chases them around the house relentlessly, leaving a trail of destruction.
  11. Most of the Victorian exhibitors show multiple dogs, not just a neuter. If we have a choice between a NSW border area show where Neuter classes are regularly offered and a local show, we travel for the Neuter class so the club gets several entries from us. So far we have had very positive comments from judges about our neutered dogs, even had one International judge who had trouble understanding why he could not award our old girl BOB! Sometimes it would be a good idea if the clubs had explained to the international judges about our Neuter class prior to judging. Good to see that Geelong has class 18 in the schedule for the May show.
  12. CONGRATS DYZNEY ON THE NEW CHAMPION!!! Who is doing Neuter classes at the Easter Mount Gambier shows??? ME!!!
  13. If you do not have Pedigree papers there is no proof he is pure poodle. I would also be checking thyroid function, low thyroid can cause sparse coat, dry itchy skin. You could try weekly baths with a soothing oatmeal shampoo.
  14. Goodluck all! Group 7 results? Std poodles?
  15. All good accomodation is now booked :) Now i'd better enter the shows! If you haven't booked yet then goodluck... everywhere seems to be full with waiting lists. I was lucky enough to call a place that had just had a cancellation. A place I found that didn't suit us is Colwyn House B&B. Maybe suitable for someone with small dogs. He said dogs would be fine to sleep inside but not in the bedrooms. The place has all accom available but seems too pokey for us.
  16. Maybe enter a show before the Royal for experience. A Royal, especially Sydney, is huge for anyone let alone a young new exhibitor.
  17. Hi all, After my cancelled Sydney trip at Easter (due to me forgetting to enter the Syd royal) we have decided to finally do Mt Gambier, mainly due to them offering Neuter class. Where are good places to stay? Who is going?
  18. Thinking about going for a look as I have to drop someone at the airport Saturday morning. Just need an idea of Group 7 numbers to work out when Poodles might be judged.
  19. We had a good weekend with 3 x DCC and 2 Intermediate in Group wins. The floor was really slippery to the point of being dangerous, especially the General Specials ring. Impossible to move a big dog properly, our Standard poodle kept slipping, can't put running shoes on the dogs! I know we are very lucky to have access to such a good indoor venue, hopefully something can be done to make the floor safer. Heard there were a few injuries to handlers from falls, broken tooth and an ankle, anyone know how these people are?
  20. SA were offering Neuter classes before a title was available. We have shown our Standard poodle to her Neuter title, most of the points were gained outside Victoria due to lack of shows offering the class. When we travel we always have dogs entered in regular classes, so the clubs get more entries.
  21. Only 2 std poodles shown (so I'm told): RU BIG- Avatar Jahalifaxa (imp Swe) Other was a baby Aufait Fahrenheit (i think he won Baby in Grp???)
