  1. If you won a group with such a high absentee rate... would you be flashing you result everywhere??? I know I would feel guilty about it!
  2. Opps sorry.... must have accidently looked at 2011 rules... it is basically the same and I'm sure there will be 50% absent today.
  3. I love twilight shows! I do understand that it affects the show organisers a lot more than us exhibotors. It wouldn't be nice packing up a show in the early hours of Monday morning BUT they are the best thing for the dogs. The summer temperatures will most likely continue to increase and we as a dog organisation need to be seen to be doing something to keep the sport going in the summer months. Imagine if PETA or other related organisations heard about a dog show running on a 40+ day??? how would that make us all look???
  4. We made to decision to stay home. It won't be pleasant at home but should be better for the dogs than showing in the oven that is the KCC pavillion. No win is worth putting your dogs through the extreme heat. A BOB/BIG/BIS today is NOT worth the same as at a normal show. I think many people are taking advantage of what will be large absences. Just remember that Troy will be aware of absentees with the pointscore... "Where we are notified that more than 40% of dogs have been marked absent from the total entry of a show (for whatever reason), the points for wins will be allocated on a sliding percentage of the points an exhibitor would normally receive as per the table below. Where possible, if we have to make adjustments to a show, the calculation for Group points will be based on the absentee level of each respective group. ◦More than 40% of dogs absent - 60% of normal points will be awarded ◦More than 60% of dogs absent - 40% of normal points will be awarded ◦More than 80% of dogs absent - 20% of normal points will be awarded"
  5. SUNDAY GROUP 7 BIG- Dane "Jackson" RuBIG- TT "Willy" Baby- Dali Minor- Frenchie Pup- Schip (Adorin) Jun- Shihtzu (B+W import) Inter- BIG Aust- Kee (Rogers) Open- Mini Poodle (Hopkins) It was hot when we arrived but we were smart enough set up at the far end with the big door open so it ended up quite nice. We can't use the A/C at home at the moment so it was better being at the show and enjoying the cars A/C!
  6. Sway I think it's is a great change. It is meant to be about competing against your own breed rather than more points for BIG (which is really already covered in the Showdog Comp).
  7. GREAT JOB TROY!!! The new results page will cut down own results entry time but must have taken you a lot of time! Thankyou. Also looking forward to entering the Neuter Comp.
  8. The Toy Poodle was Cathy Camac's Chezjolie Witches Britches which also won Puppy In Show.
  9. Should be fun... looks like I will have to start grooming soon to try and beat the heat!
  10. Great to see the Neuter class back again this year! Unsure if I will be able to make it next year due to full time work.
  11. Hi all, I think I know the answer to this question but thought I'd double check just incase I have people questioning me. I'm going to New Zealand in a couple of weeks and might be handling someones dogs (if they like me). As an ANKC (DogsVictoria) member, can I handle in New Zealand??? regards Caroline

  13. Goodluck at the shows this week everyone! This is one of my favourite chunks of shows for the year (plus it's only 10 mins away from our farm. Unsure if i'm going at this point due to a house fire at home in Melb I might just to get out of the horrible sooty house. BTW everyone is ok except the kitchen.
  14. Victoria had a grand total of 5 All Breeds shows with Neuter class for 2011. Ovens Valley KC x2, Southern Cross KC x2 & Kilmore KC x1. I hope exhibitors continue to support this class.

  21. We show and breed Standard Poodles. For showing, black would be the most popular followed by white. As pets, most enquiries we get are for a good basic black. The fads with browns, apricot, red and silver come and go, most people still want black. A few times we have dyed our white girl pink for modelling work and we have been asked where can they buy a pink poodle.
  22. We are frequent hydrobath users, showing Standard Poodles means bathing before and after shows and weekly maintainance baths when not showing. We also have a few grooming clients, mostly Poodles. Our ideal hydrobath - Large with doors at both ends, some big dogs and older arthritic dogs can have trouble turning around and the walk-through option is good. Cut-out on the large side is easier on the groomers back. Heated, being water conscious, we save the rinsing water and reheat to bath another dog. Single tank is fine. Pump needs to be powerful and easily accessible for maintainence. Long flexible hose and big shower attachment. Easy to clean filter. Something secure to tie a dog lead on for jumpers (never leave a dog unattended, some dogs just continually try and get out and it's a struggle to bath them) Built in shelf for shampoo bottles. Material- we have a fibre glass and a plastic hydrobath, not a lot of difference. Must be easily moved on good castors. Colour - purple would be nice!
