Wagga Pounds surrender fee was around $130 and they would try to rehome/send to rescue depending on the animal/space, etc. The surrender fee was pointless IMO as they have deposit pens for after hours and people would just dump there animals in there, most weren't microchipped (especially cats) and if they were the people just claim not to own the animal. Funnily enough the deposit pens were probably a better option as the animals would get minimum 7 days, instead of potentially only 1-2days for surrenders. Although there are benefits to surrendering like finding out the animals history, this was rarely passed along to rescues/new owners tho. I believe pounds/shelters should charge a fee to cover some costs, however, it shouldn't differentiate between rehome/euthanise. Also there should be a standard fee for an entire litter!

I have come across a dog through work and the owner has asked for some assistance rehoming the dog. I have not personally meet the dog. I just offered to post a photo with basic details in case rescues could help or in case someone was interested. Please direct all enquiries to the dog owner, Susan, email is below. The dog is named Evie. Female, Cairn Terrier, Shaggy dark brindle in colour, microchipped, desexed. She is 5.5 years old. I believe dog has grown up with cats. As most of you know Im living in Sydney now and just finalising the closure of Wagga Animal Rescue Inc. So I thought as a way of helping out rescues again I can offer discounted microchipping to any reptuable Sydney Rescues. Ive been an authorised identifier for a year now and microchipped over 1000 animals. Happy to come to you or your foster carers. Would probably benefit rescues with litters of pups or kittens, otherwise most animals are microchipped at the pound. Cost would be about $10-15 per microchip depending on travel just to cover costs. Thanks Powerlegs that's it. So no they can't do private rehoming but they could sign the people up as foster carers until the animal is rehomed. We did this for a few people who's cats had accidental litters. They were our foster carers, legally our kittens, all vet checked and rehomed through our coordinator and then we would help the owner desex there cat as well.

So basically they use Pet Rescue as a private rehoming service? Is that allowed? I don't think it is allowed! When PetRescue upgraded a few months it was one of the things that changed, as we sometimes did something similar, once dog was temp tested and spoke to the owner a lot. I'm on my phone atm but will look at there T&Cs later. Maybe send an email to PetRescue about them.

Or in knowing only the St Ives in northern Sydney, am I not stretching the geographical net wide enough ? :laugh: Haha yes I have moved to North Syd now. Ok awesome. I've just moved to Syd so staying with my Uncle in Penrith until I find a house. I might PM you. Wouldn't mind some puppy cuddles!! I saw then at wagga pound when they were there too :)

Omg so cute T!! Are they on PetRescue yet? I showed my uncle who has been looking for a bull terrier pup from registered breeders and he is may be interested ;)

Just a update and announcement!! We officially rehomed our 1000th and 1001th animals today! These are our official PetRescue statistics based on the past 5 years, so im sure there were many more before this. We now only have 20 cats/kittens left to rehome before we officially close at the end of June. Today is my last day in Wagga Wagga so it is very fitting that I was able to complete these adoptions and I couldn't be happier! Im now moving to Sydney tomorrow to start work on Monday as the Ku-Ring-Gai Council's Companion Animal Management Officer :D
