  1. Oh crap . Just because the dog didn't respond to cortisone? No specialist? No nothing else? That is so incredibly sad. I hope the dog forgives us. Yeah erny, I know I hope he forgives me, too!
  2. Ok so, my friend had a 4yo staffy, dark brindle, male, entire, gorgeous boy! About a year ago he started scratching uncontrollablyand ended up with a huge red rash. My friend took him to the vet and he said his dog would have to have a cortisone inj and tabs. As soon as the inj and tabs wore off the rash came back worse than ever! :D The vet told my friend that his dog would have to be on inj's and tabs for the rest of his life to control the condition, it was an auto immune response. My friend after agonising over the decision, decided to put his dog to sleep! The vet came to the house and his dog seemed to "know" what was going on. ;) My friend held his dog during the injection and said that he felt the spirit leave the body, even b4 the vet had finished giving the lethal injection! I was overwhelmed with sadness when my friend told me all this as I had known his dog since he was a young pup, when he first brought him home! Sorry for the long post but it got me thinking about this situation. He was a beautiful boy and I miss him everyday! XXtoughgirlXXX
  3. I missed it too, guy's! ;) Will have to make sure I watch next week! XXtoughgirlXXxxx

  5. I suppose it depends on the individual dog in terms of what is the best dry food. Just saying it has been EP has been great for my boy! XXtoughgirlXxx
  6. Hey guy's, I bath Simba once a month, sometimes once every few weeks if he get's really dirty - muddy, wee stains etc.... I use Dazzle Dog whitening Shampoo which is purple! Great for whitening his coat. But expensive around $25 a bottle! And then I use Chris Christensen conditioner or the petkleen one we have at work. Both work really well to keep the coat knot free and shiny! I make sure to dry him off as thoroughly as I can before we go home. We have a hydrobath & dryer at work. This seems to work well for Simba XXToughgirlXxxx
  7. I feed my boy, Simba the EP holistic Select Anchovy! He loves it and it's great for his coat, too. It has added Glucosamine which is great for his joint problems. And he never has trouble with his poo it is always firm and there is not a large amount of it I do think it is one of the best dry foods on the market at the moment. XXToughgirlXXxx
  8. I'm pretty sure you can get EP Holistic Select Anchovy & Duck from it used to be Pet's at Home in Narre Warren. XXtoughgirlXxxx
  9. Oh Lindainfa, Arnie is gorgeous! XXToughgirlXxxxx
  10. A score of 10 to me is fine, but you would always hope for lower, but it would not stop me. 20 IMO I would have 2nd and 3rd thoughts about using a dog with that score. The dog would have to be super fantasic, before you even think about it, and there is no super fantasic dogs around. As for a 4-1 score, you want each side as close as possible, but this score is still very acceptable due to its low score. In some parts of Europe it is a Grade A2, other parts a B. This score any breeder would be happy with. As for naming dogs and critasizing breeders and dogs on a public forum, I would advise be very careful, as it can open a can of worms. I don't want to cause trouble, that's why I haven't said who his breeder is I'm just curious about what you guy's think of the scores. Just trying to do the right thing for the breed Thanks for all your replies! XXtoughgirlXxxx
  11. I know my friend who has had a few staffies over the years usually gives them marrowbones whole (not cut in half). They seem to enjoy them and haven't had any probs with them. it's great for their teeth too. Hope this helps. :D XXtoughgirlXxxx
  12. Yeah, I've heard they can do a procedure on young large breed, deep chested puppies so they won't bloat - fixing the stomach to the intestinal wall i think? I've heard they do it on Weimarana's. XXtoughgirlXxxx

  17. Hi everyone, I emailed Simba's breeder the other day and she told me that his father had a hip score of 20 and his mother 10. She said the breed average is 17 so they were acceptable to breed from. Is this correct? Or do you guy's think 10 and 20 hip scores are way too high? XXToughgirlXxxx
  18. Hi samoyedman, My boy Simba also turns 4 this year :D Loki is gorgeous. XXtoughgirlXxxx

  21. Japanese Spitz! I've totally fallen for this breed! I hope you're thinking about agility for your dog.. they have the aptitude! And I hope you like light colour clothes and have a great vacuum cleaner Agility and Flyball, are definitely on the cards. Either one or both. I'm going to do a NDTF course that starts in August.. so, hopefully, I get a pup before then and use him/her as my demo dog too! (I won't be able to use Charlie) Dyson - check Befriend with the local groomer - check Woohoo... good excuses for clothes shopping!!! ;) Hey charleswentworth, I'm doing the NDTF Dog Behaviour & Training course right now! IMO it is excellent and totally worth the money!!!! I'm really enjoying it  Though I'm still not sure which area of dog training I will eventually want to be involved in, it is great learning about the basics of training and the many methods used to train dogs. I do love watching puppy-preschool classes. I'm sure you will get a great deal out of it, as I already have. I'm currently in month 4. There is a lot of theory to work through but it is so interesting. Practical workshops are held at a boarding kennel where I work, so I will probably see you there! :D Sorry this is off topic!!!! :D XXToughgirlXXxxxx
  22. Danelady, I'm pretty sure I've joined "Disabled Pet's". It's the one with Aquapaws on it isan't it? XXtoughgirlXxx
