Head Of The Piaa Caught In The Act.
Little Gifts replied to pandypam's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
Thank you to Melzawelza for explaining why this photograph might even exist because I couldn't for the life of me understand the point of having a photo taken holding up an animal with a rope around its neck. The photo seemed very African safari to me and I thought we'd moved past those days. I'd find anything strung up by a rope disturbing to be honest. It just seems so grotesque and unnessecary. A photo of it even worse. -
I don't want to keep talking about Clancy in poor Charlie Brown's thread! Clancy was a bit naughty last night - his first time testing my patience so really in the scheme of things we have been blessed with him. Last weekend I was sick and in bed and my sister was working so he got very little attention. Sure he got on my bed a couple of times to see if I was still alive and chew off any corners of the doona covers that Stussy hadn't already eaten but hey, a dog's gotta keep himself occupied! But last night he refused to come into the house and was being all snoopy and hidey. My sister and I were in and out of the house for hours with torches and leashes trying to round him up and he'd let us get oh so close then run off again! Of course it was all wet out there as well and I'm sure he was on a toad hunt so I couldn't give up. One time he made me scream in fright when I was looking for him in one direction and he came up behind me and licked behind my knees (before running off again). At that stage I knew it was deliberate! We eventually faked giving up, left the back door open for the mozzies and he sauntered into the house, got a rub down and promptly fell asleep. So in the scheme of things not so terrible, but he had a look on his face that was kind of like "I no longer answer to the name of Clancy, humans! Try and discover my superhero name if you dare!" I do have to take some footage of Clancy and Stussy doing their soft toy routine. Stussy waggles a soft toy in front of Clancy's face. He latches on and she drags him around the lounge room until he lets go again. They even change directions! I do worry when she drags him when he is lying flat on his belly with his frog legs akimbo - doodle carpet burns.....

The photo is disturbing. Many feral animals are problematic in Australia and need to be culled to keep things in balance. But someone in a position such as that standing there wearing a grin while holding up a dead cat with a rope tied around its neck conjures up the wrong image. A dead cat, feral or domestic is hardly a hunting prize. I would feel the same if he was holding up a wild rabbit or a large marlin. What is there to show off about killing? Edited to add I don't know if it is a friend or the head of the PIAA holding the cat but it is still inappropriate and not necessary. -
Introducing My First Foster Dog

Nah, it is really his first time deliberately ignoring us so he has been a very good boy really. I'm blaming it on the rain! -

I'll scan it on the super duper scanner at work and email it to you Ams. Wont be till Wednesday. I'm glad no-one wants Clancy - I'm nowhere near ready for him to go yet (despite him having been naughty tonight!). Fantastic news for Cara and Darby. I can't beleive how big Darby's head/face is in pics! All smoosh! -

I meant to ask if there'd been much interest in Charlie Brown after he was featured in the paper last Sunday? -

I'm so glad he is doing so well and getting new experiences Teekay! Clancy chases all the birds out of my yard too. CB always looks good in his pics because he has that unusual colouring (and goober lips). -
I'm Still Not Ready For Another Dog
Little Gifts replied to Loraine's topic in General Dog Discussion
Loraine I was always going to go back fostering after my old girl passed on. She left us late last May but it wasn't till about a month ago that I pursued a cry for help from another DOLer for foster carers. I then started dreaming about my old girl regularly and it kind of upset me. I started getting a bit of anxiety over the whole idea. But our foster boy arrived a couple of weeks ago and I was in love with him by about day 2! The funny thing is I know I am not the one for him so I take my job to make him ready for his heart person very seriously! I want him to have all the life and joy he deserves and that my other dogs have had here, including my old girl. I don't feel she is guiding me or anything but this foster boy has fitted in so seemlessly that it feels like it was all meant to be even though it took time and some questioning. So I know how you feel - enjoying the moments just as they are is a nice feeling after a big loss. Some dogs leave a big hole in your life and the house after they leave us. -
Thank you Erny!

I have a couple of questions about the Proden and I've been trawling through the pages of this thread but have just not spotted the answers. How do you use it on your dogs? Do they ingest it in food or water or do you put it on their teeth? Is it a daily usage thing? What is the dosage amount? If I had two dogs how big a container do you suggest I buy? It seems like some people have good results on here so I'm also interested in giving it a try for those stubborn back teeth. Thank you!

Oh Nekhbet, this is so very sad. Run free big boy.

RIP beautiful boy.

My new foster boy is a mud lover and of course he managed to get it over the other two dogs and all three ran in the back door and over the carpet. I'm very happy it has finally stopped raining!

Yesterday I discovered that Clancy likes mud. The carpet and the other dogs, not so much! Today we had a fabulous training session, aided somewhat by the participation of the other two dogs - he copies a lot of what they do already. So we did look, sit, stay and heel brilliantly - stay and heel far better than my Stussy girl I might add. The first time I got out the leash he got scared and had to be coerced but by the second time I pulled it out he just sat while I clipped it on to just his normal collar. He walked well with it just draped around my neck rather than it dangling before his face (yes he is a total loose lead walker!). Those lamb puffs are the bomb for training! I also desensitised him to the hand brush things I use (the ones they use on horses). If he gets to sniff and inspect things first he seems ok after that. So I am very proud of my little man! Oh and Ams I couldn't stand that old collar on him - I found a new one that I got at an AWL stall that fits nicely so he is sporting that now. The other will get a wash and be kept safe. So this week, weather permitting, I will desensitise him to the harness and we will keep heel walking around the backyard with the aim of branching off the property next weekend! I so want to take him to our little agility park and over to mum's where I can see how he is with cooks and cats. Here are some pics from today - he had his eye on those lamb puffs the whole time!

He's a beautiful looking boy. So glad you spotted him and have taken him home!

I remember very clearly poor Luki when you first got him. I can't believe it has been two years! -
How Cute Are These?
Little Gifts replied to tdierikx's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
Have they got stumpy little legs or is it just their fat bellies hanging low?
