I use one when Im walking my Goldie, unfortunately she learned to pull before I learned to teach her not to, so our compromise with the help of a behaviourist was to use a martingale for the time being, she now only needs a small check every now and again as a reminder not to pull It definitely doesnt stay on all the time, fitted correctly it sits right at the top of the throat, and is quite tight (not choking, but firm so it doesnt slip down and the check means something to them. They are a very fiddly collar to use so if its not needed I wouldnt bother with them, Ill be glad when I can put lexi in a flat collar and just walk her lol...time will come

Teaching Back End Awareness

Where are you treating him? Id be putting the treat on the book to try and increase the value of that book, might make him try something new, or does he at least move his other paw? you could also try clicking that too I know the feeling though, Lexi is not a shaper, Ive been trying to get her to put even just one paw on something, she will do a nose touch, but not a paw touch -
Ive finally had a bit of a breakthrough with my JRT and her car anxiety, I can now take her on small trips without her stressing too much, its made me wonder about alternative ways of relieving her anxiety as she is a very stressy dog in general, not just in the car (sniffing when she is stressed, which is affecting training) Ive tried rescue remedy and a relaxation spray (not DAP) but they have had little effect on her, infact spraying her stresses her a little lol, which is why Ive started thinking about massage or T-touch, Ive never really looked into T-touch, I was busy the weekend we had a seminar here in Brissy, I think one or both of them might help her, but I dont really know enough to know what might be the best option for her Anyone have any advice? and does anyone know of a practitioner preferably on Brisbanes northside? Google has failed me this time round lol, so now its time for word of mouth :p

Thanks, kept forgetting to check on Ebay Mine is 6.5cm (the blade itself). I love it Ta, I think thats the same size as my small furminator...too small for comfort on a Goldie lol I know its not the same, but people on here often comment on how great their COTD 'furminators' are
-
Pssst...dont tell Jake you are getting the smallest one for him lol, if he is anything like Tess he probably firmly believes he is a BIG dog lol
-
They are on COTD atm with a load of other things with a shipping cap of $15, can anyone tell me what size the brush is? I need a larger one for my Goldie
-
Glad I saw this! thanks for posting

With two dogs to keep an eye on Id rather be fenced in lol, I guess i could keep one on lead and let the other run though RE drinks I just like soft drink or water, not a real big drinker and Im teeny so Id rather not risk a DUI charge on the way home lol

Urrr, 3 dogs? lol You can bring food if you like, if not no worries :D
-
wow...maybe she did lick a toad, is he reluctant to let you open his mouth too? He hates us opening his mouth at the best of times, so it takes two of us after he's got a toad. This is a dog who hunts them out purely to lick or chomp them. Once he's got his 'hit' he's done with it and it hops off. He can be out of sight for the time it takes to put a bag of rubbish in a wheely bin and when you look he's drooling and spaced out. Addict. Wow, sounds just like Tess last night...hope she doesnt develop addiction lmao

NO, not a symptom of snake bite at all. At the end of the day only YOU can make the decision if you need to go to the vet or not. Everyone else (as good intensions as they have, bless) are only speculating. Only YOU can see your dog and can determine how uncomfortable she is and how worried you are. I am sure you will make the right decision, and the vet isn't far away, so that's a bonus. I hope she's well this morning for you I mentioned snake bite as Buster had frothy clear/yellow foam around his mouth when i found him after his last brown bite, it would have been sick, i was concerned that GoldenGirl85 hadn't seen if she had been sick. There are a lot of snakes in the area so its very possible she had come across one, it was a very good idea to mention it, my main concern was toads so I hadnt even thought of snakes

Tess is fine, Im the one who had to call in sick this morning I was getting horrible dizzy spells, even lying down...still not feeling great but Im better after a load of sleep wow...maybe she did lick a toad, is he reluctant to let you open his mouth too?
-
No, unfortunately I dont have mobile service here and there is no landline I really think she is fine, Im keeping her inside and watching her, this is more about what makes you decide what to do if its you in the situation, how 'bad' do they have to be before you decide its worthy of vet treatment Jaquilee I was going to rush her down when she was frothing but that stopped very quickly
-
Im about a 5-10 minute drive, depends on the traffic lights Ive spoken to a couple of different vets about cane toads who have said to rub their gums with a wet towel as hosing their mouth can make them swallow the poison
-
I dont think so, she is fine now...looking for her dinner actually Im reluctant to feel her, she is holding her stomach tight as though its aching but otherwise she is her old self
-
I just got home from agility, put the dogs in the yard, came inside and got their dinner ready and went back out to them, they were loose for about 5 mins. When I came back out with the food Tess was all frothy at the mouth, thinking maybe she got a cane toad I brought her inside and started rubbing her gums with a wet towel, she wouldnt let me open her mouth and was biting down quite hard if I tried to feel for anything. Now she is fully alert (she was never out of it), she is drooling a little but is no longer frothing, she is letting me open her mouth, and I cant see anything in there but she wont let me have a good look, she is opening and closing her mouth a lot which is making me think maybe she got an ant bite in her mouth or something along those lines What makes you decide when they need to go to the vet straight away (meaning emergency centre at this time of the night) or wait and see how they go?
