  1. Banj has chicken necks often... seems to like them The good- keeps him busy and is good for him The bad- stinks for a few hours after
  2. Thank you I was hoping this would be the case so thought a few might see my post of here. Have found the list of registered breeders on here so will definitely do a bit of a ring around :-D Thanks have said a little something My main reason for wanting a close breeder is that I am not entirelly sure how well a new addition will get on with my current little dog. I am thinking it will be fine as he shared at the rspca but yeah not entirelly confident. That is why I would be hoping on a couple of meetings first and having a 'trial' period off a breeder and if things go terribly wrong there is an option to return her... Hope that makes sence? If I were to adopt one from out of state it would be very difficult if things got out of hand in returning her...
  3. Thank you oakway As I said I have been checking and have seen that one...
  4. Hello, Not sure if this is the right place to post this.. Me and my partner are looking for a female italian greyhound. Preferably an older retired girl 2-5 years old. Desexed or we will get it done no problems.. Will be coming to a loving home with no children and one other little male dog. Regually checking dozonline but nothing much coming up. Located in Adelaide- would prefer someone local... Please pm if you can help or have any questions! thanks
  5. Mine is 1.2 months old and is always digging on the doona! Its so funny especially when you hide under the blankets and he attempts to dig you out :-D
  6. I agree with the holistic select salmon one. It smells like a bag of fish food but my dog loves it.
  7. The dogs next door cant even see mine- its coregated iron. Must be able to smell him
  8. I am having fence wars at the moment with my little banjo and the 2 big boofs next door. Its not really a game though. Its gotten to the point that banjo is too scared to go outside! Everytime he steps foot out there is this almighty banging crashing and barking and growling on the fence. This sets banjo off on crazy barking and crying until he comes back in shaking I tried to bring it up with the neighbours and the moron laughed and said they were friends and it was sweet that they 'talked' to each other. Blah Am at a loss of what to do so now he spends all his time inside and I have to come out with him for toilet.
  9. I didnt start it to pry into everyones life I was just wondering if the guilt I feel for leaving my dog at home is justified... Was curious is all.
  10. HAHAH! mine does the exact same thing! but he doesnt leave the torso until it is completly empty and fluff is everywhere. He mostly goes nuts about socks, carries them everywhere and shakes and growls at the like crazy haha. He is also a huge toilet paper fan. :-D
  11. that site is just awful hundreds of older dogs being given away for ridiculous reasons amongst hundreds of puppy adds from backyard breeders with names like 'moodle' and 'snchoodle' Came across this one recently- most ridiculous thing I have ever heard 'WEIMARANER 5 year old weimaraner, Desexed, Great nature, Great with kids, We have just downsized our backyard with a pool, so feel sorry for her as she needs a bigger yard, Only want some money for her to put towards for a small lap dog and to know she will go to a good home Welcome to view any time. ' nearly died >
  12. Thought this would be interesting :D If you work full time but there is someone else who stays home with the dog/s then count that as home most of the time
  13. I got mine a lamb bone for the first time the other day and he did not stop licking it! haha. Wouldnt chew it but licked it clean. Was quite funny. He also enjoys chicken necks a lot...
  14. Thanks so much for all your replies everyone very helpful. I was already suspecting tibbie or iggie so will concentrate on them they are both adorable. Regarding why am I only looking at small dogs.... I would love to get a big dog but space just doesnt permit unfortunitley Also I am renting and feel it would be far easier to convice landlords with 2 tiny dogs then a big dog also more convenient in my small car. Amongst other reasons. I just have to loom at the long term. Soooo what kind of cost do you think a breeder would charge for an older iggie or tibbie? (We were thinking of getting a retired breeding one or one that didnt go so good at showing) Just so I know what kind of money to gather up over the next couple of months.
  15. Mine got a heatworm shot at the vet that lasts a year and gets an all wormer every few months (not sure what is is- got it off the vet) We dont seem to have fleas or ticks here. Never had to use anything.
  16. I am trying to make mine walk on my left beside me. Not working so well as he keeps getting under my damn feet lol. If he had it his way he pulls at the end of the lead the whole way. Once he is trained I would be happy have him walking anywhere as long as he isnt pulling or under my feet!
  17. Sorry guys not sure where to post this... I was wondering if anyone could tell me of small dogs that are not known for barking? I understand each is different and it is all about training and socialisation but I am just wondering in general if there are smaller dogs that are known to be quiet.. once our noisy little rescue calms down and we get him out of his barking habit we are looking at intoducing him to a friend... Dont want old habits to be awoken though and end up with twice the trouble! :-D thank you
  18. thanks again... I have been reccomended mark singer in adelaide so as soon as I gather up the funds will give him a call. I dont know if i would feel comfortable contacting the rspca as im sure they already have there hands full and resources stretched.. One his bahavor issues settle down will definitely look at getting him back to class obedience.
  19. Yeah that all makes sense. The one I am looking at includes a session to show how to continue at home. But yeah I think getting a trainer to my home for one on one is the way to go.
  20. I have the exact same problem with my rescue. although he isnt doing sooo well at home either. The obedience group we joined had massive classes and he barked and lunged at dogs from start to finish. After being so terribly embaressed and getting NO help what so ever from the overworked teachers we havent been back. Looking into ones with smaller groups I got one reply saying that my dog wouldnt be suitable if he barks all the time as no one will learn anything Now am looking at getting a board and train or getting a private trainer (both as the cost of a fair few hundred) All very stressful. I just want him to behave with other dogs. I wouldnt even care about anything else if only he could be decent around other dogs. Strange though cause at the rspca he was sharing with a couple of other dogs and was fine with them
  21. Do you think the board and train arrangment works? In 2 weeks can they really come back with a good understanding of the basics? Obviously you have to carry it on at home...
  22. I have a crossbreed? am i not welcome? btw not some designer breed but a rescue
  23. I have an out of control little dog. He jumps, doesn't sit or stay or come, pulls on the lead, has dog aggresion.. But worst of all barks like crazy. He barks all day when we are out (as told by the neighbours), he barks at anything that moves on our walks, barks at dogs barking on tv and barks when anyone comes near the front door. Worst of all he barks from the beginning of group training to the end and I dont think we are learning much and neither is anyone else because of it. I am at a loss of what to do... the first ones I can deal with but the barking is driving my batty. I am really trying my best but its not enough. it is putting the biggest strain on my relationship So I am thinking it would really help if I got someone to come to the house and do me up a plan and do some work on him etc in a one on one environment. So can anyone reccomend a company or person with proven experience in adelaide? Has anyone used bark busters? thanks!
