  1. Hi We have used cabergoline quite a few times over the past 5 years always with success and always have very healthy litters. Our vet is a reproductive specialist and it is always dispensed under his care. It takes approx. 3-5 weeks for your bitch to come into season and then it is administered for 2 days after bleeding begins. It inhibits the hormone that stops estrus so that your girl will naturally start her season. I hope this helps. Kerry
  2. Our Black girl Rosie would lose all of her chest hair after every birth. It looked like she was wearing a white bib in the photos.
  3. Magnoplasm works great. My husband has always made a poultice out of soap & sugar and this has always worked on splinters etc. Kerry
  4. How distressing for you all. I am so pleased that everything is ok now. Kerry
  5. What hole????????? Ohhhh, I just want to kiss her gorgeous face. ;)
  6. I would separate them for at least 24 hours. Even 12 hours if you think you are running out of time. Remember, distance makes the heart grow fonder. ;) Good luck
  7. Congratulations. What a wonderful outcome. You must be so relieved. Kerry
  8. Great advice. You have to keep him interested. The warmth from mum will also benefit him. Good luck tonight.
  9. alaskan malamutes brillant loving part of my family lol Gorgeous.
  10. yes hes in a box with a heat lamp but iam taking him in the morning to the vets and take it from there ty so much for all your help we just didnt expect this the ultrasound showed all were alive and well Things can go wrong during whelping, I think most breeders start to relax when the pups are around 3-4 weeks old - it's just part of breeding. I have only had 4 litters, only 1 litter was without any issues at all and I really enjoyed that one. However the other 3 were em c sections, pup stuck in birth canal, uterine inertia (x2) including a premature litter (3 out of 8 survived), pups died at birth, had pups pts at 7 1/2 weeks and 3 weeks old as well as the aspiration pneumonia mentioned earlier. Breeding sucks at times, it really does. When everything goes well it is absolutely wonderful. I totally agree. You can be 110% prepared but anything can happen. We have also had puppies stuck, emerg. c-sections, eclampsia & stillbirths. Breeding is definitely hard work emotionally & physically. We had 7 puppies born in January during the long hot days. I would get up every 10 - 15 mins throughout the night just to make sure they all got their fair share of milk (especially with the heat). I loved this litter as even though I was sleep deprived for a very short time, we had 7 beautiful healthy puppies with no complications. All litters should be this easy. Kerry
  11. Do you have a heat pad in the whelping box? It is extremely important to keep him warm. He needs this to help digest his milk and for survival. A cold puppy is a miserable puppy. Good luck.
  12. As a breeder of 17 years standing, I'm afraid I agree with this 100% - let this little guy go. i spoke with the vet he said we can give a tube a try but he preferr to put him down, its so sad, ive never lost a pup before, i just wanted to do anything i could to help, but i have to listern to my vet, It is heartbreaking to lose a puppy. I am sure you will make the right decision You then need to focus your energy into your girl and the remaining 7 puppies. You will definitely need all your strength over the next few days and weeks as a big litter is a lot of work. All the best Kerry
  13. You will find a wealth of information from very experienced & passionate dog lovers. I spend hours reading posts on this forum, along with a cruise forum, my two passions dogs & travel. I don't know how I find the time to work, look after a house full of teenagers & dogs? I know you will enjoy it. Kerry
  14. Congrats. Exciting isn't it. All the best for your litters to come. Kerry
  15. "Vets All Natural Omega Blend liquid" or one that is similar. Once a day on their food is fantastic to help the skin & condition of the fur. Great if they are itchy, also boots the immune system. Good luck. Kerry
  16. Hi Sheila No blood test necessary. As long as the last season was at least 6 months ago and your girl is in great health, a check-up by our vet along with a weigh is all that is necessary. Our vet knows everything about us but we always have to make an appointment for him to check our girls before he administers the capsules. Kerry
  17. Hi Sheila We have been using Cabergoline for a few years and in that time it has never been more than 35.00 - 40.00 for 2 weeks worth of capsules. It is dispensed in 25 microg or 100 microg capsules by our vet not tablets. One of our Pugs who weighed approx. 10 kgs was on 1 x 100mg capsule a day and it took around 4-5 weeks for her season to start. One of our other girls was 8kg and was on 2 x 25 microg capsules a day (given at the same time). It took approx. 3 weeks for her season to begin. On average it takes 3-5 weeks. Good luck. Kerry
  18. Hi Fordogs Over the years we have used Cabergoline quite a few times on the recommendation & supervision of our vet who is a reproductive specialist. It is a human fertility drug that has no side effects. We have only used it to plan a litter when one of our girls has a history of lengthy periods between seasons. It is not expensive and we have had success every time. It is given daily and usually within 3-5 weeks the season begins. It is stopped 2 days after bleeding has commenced. It inhibits the hormone that stops estrus so that your girl will naturally start her season. I hope this helps. If you would like any other information, just let me know Kerry
  19. We use Advocate for puppies up to 4 kg. which can be used from 7 weeks. Covers fleas, ticks, worms (except tapeworm) mites, ear mites. Good luck with your puppy. What a shame it is missing the important last two weeks with it's littermates and mum.
  20. Our puppies were 5 weeks on Thursday and they have been having the Advance puppy growth for a few days now.(under supervision.) We never give our puppies soaked dry food. We just introduce the dry food as is once their teeth are coming through. It's great exercise for their mouth and jaw. Just remember to always have fresh water available as they will get very thirsty. They are also having Advance puppy tin. Their poos are always firm and dark.
  21. That is a great video. I love the way the older dog is just looking at him in amazement.
  22. We put a couple of ceramic floor tiles in our whelping box over summer. They loved it.
