  1. I'm not sure how much you are charging for your puppies but if you can justify it with plenty of information which I think you probably can.. Then explain it and let the potential buyer make up his/her mind, that's all you can do really. I always get "you got ripped off" by people I know and when I explain to them that the mental stability I get from knowing there is testing, breeder support, pedigree and a home for her to go to if anything bad should happen included in her price generally shuts them up. I then proceed and say I'm supporting breeders that love dogs and want to better the breed, not pet shops or bybs...
  2. Thanks for the hospitality, has gotten me quite excited instead of nervous... Assuming you sit with them too Rottshowgirl
  3. this March.. $3,000.00 including health testing, main register, 6 year guarantee, docked tail, transport, champion bloodlines and full breeder support. I do not think it is much.
  4. oh the poor dear! thank you for replying.. how long did it take for the swelling to go down if you dont mind me asking?
  5. Everyone gasps at how much I paid for my pup.. would happily pay that price again and am planning to with my next dobe.. I saw a mini poodle in a "pet shop" today for $1,000.00, it looked ill and I almost cried, ran out and didnt buy anything from them (all I needed was hay for my rabbit). My first dobe 10 years ago was $200 she was so lovely and is still alive (breeder was a byb but both her parents had pedigrees).
  6. Hi all My large breed pup either broke or fractured her toe 3 weeks ago, the vet didn't say it was a bad break mind you he did not xray her (she is going in tomorrow because I demanded it) and he said it would heal fine by itself. The toe is still as swollen as it was 3 weeks ago and I am starting to worry it will stay like that.. Has the vet missed a crucial period of splinting or rectifying it? is there no real rectification of broken toes available? is she at risk of bone problems etc because of this? is there anything I can do NOW that will help? I am not exactly sure what is wrong with her toe I will find out tomorrow but I would love advice/stories/examples from people who know or have been through this with their dog so I have more of an idea when going to the vets. I would also like to hear about how long toes have taken to heal or how long swelling has persisted. Thank you in advance!
  7. Get a dobermann! Short coated, good with other animals, large but not clumsy, really active, intelligent as anything and loyal to boot!
  8. I got my number today too! Now I'm really nervous haha, thanks so much Lyndsay.
  9. I got my number today too! Now I'm really nervous haha, thanks so much Lyndsay.
  10. I cannot relate to this enough. Its a little scary, my oh is starting to resent my little girl.
  11. Oh great! Ill call them today, thanks! So nervous have no mentor or nowhere to sit, its a trial show for us, little eff won't let me "arrange" her feet and she is a little naughty but everyone has to start somewhere. Good thing she's only in baby puppy so the embarrassment will be over early haha. Good luck all
  12. All three of the dobermanns I have had were difficult to train, intelligent yes but would not listen to anybody I knew apart from me, they also won't lift a paw (pardon the pun) unless there was something in it for them and verbal praise got boring pretty quickly for them. If the list was based on easily trained dogs then I wouldn't recommend the dobermann for a novice owner, sometimes they quite simply outsmart them.
  13. Thanks for the information about not receiving anything till the day, I sent off my money in an express post platinum envelope with a return envelope because I didn't have a cheque book and entries were closing. I guess I am going to have to keep on trying to call them. Thanks
  14. Hi all Is anyone entered in the show this weekend? it will be my first show and I have not received acknowledgment of my entry, I have not been able to get on to anyone re the phone number so I was just wondering if anyone that has entered has received their numbers etc yet? Thanks in advance

  17. Min pin!! A little active but tiny and low shedding
  18. I didn't think anyone would go because of the rain, hence I didn't. My little girl will be a big girl soon so keen for a big dog meet up also.
  19. When children come up to pat my puppy most parents think she is a chocolate lab (no...) Once I tell them she is a dobermann they sort of scurry away. When I walk my older dobe people cross the street, I guess I'm lucky that I don't have to deal with rude ignorant people because noone wants to pat "the big bad dobes". Its actually kind of sad though having a pup people are scared of patting especially since Effy loves people. You had every right to be mad, the mum must of actually been mad, how was she not the least bit phased after you said your dog was reactive. To me, if I had a child, alarm bells would have been ringing..
  20. could I bring effy? my dobe puppy? not a little breed but a smallish baby?
  21. Currently doing it, its really hard especially when your little one has a fractured toe and you cant take her out to burn her energy but a couple of laps around the apartment/backyard wont do it either.. I also feel terribly bad for my neighbours that hear her plodding away on the floorboards or going nuts when I am getting her food out.. its behaviour I am trying to rectify on the whole but living in an apartment does not make it easy to correct my dog as I have to be super quiet and any whining she does it sure to get me in trouble..Looking for a new place as I type..
  22. In terms of safety, sorry, I agree with a run, I would also suggest keeping the dog inside (if you can) state that the fence is weak and you fear for your dogs safety and the safety of your family and it should be no worries.. I might try and establish who actually manages this rental property and speak with them in regards to the state of the fence! It will cost roughly $4k to do just that one side! If the landlord isn't willing to pay half then he is going to have to attend to the fence also if he is going to allow his rental property to have pets. In response to your above statement, his tennent was in that property with a pet first and he can do what he wants, he does not have to disallow his tennent from having pets, even if the dog escaped and attacked someone it would be the tennent that owns the dogs problem not his..
  23. Sorry must of missed the part where you wrote your in laws were the landlords ? Whilst the fence is being errected what do you think the woman next door will do with her dog? DIVIDING FENCES ACT 1991 - SECT 4 Determination as to “sufficient dividing fence” 4 Determination as to “sufficient dividing fence” In any proceedings under this Act, the Local Court or a local land board is to consider all the circumstances of the case when determining the standard for a sufficient dividing fence for the purposes of this Act, including the following: (a) the existing dividing fence (if any), (b) the purposes for which the adjoining lands are used or intended to be used, © the privacy or other concerns of the adjoining land owners, (d) the kind of dividing fence usual in the locality, (e) any policy or code relating to dividing fences adopted by the council of the local government area in which the adjoining lands are situated, (f) any relevant environmental planning instrument relating to the adjoining lands or to the locality in which they are situated, (g) in the case of a dividing fence affecting land the subject of a lease under the Western Lands Act 1901 , any order in force under section 18A of that Act. DIVIDING FENCES ACT 1991 - SECT 12 Procedure when agreement not reached 12 Procedure when agreement not reached (1) Adjoining owners may attend a Community Justice Centre in an attempt to reach an agreement concerning the carrying out of fencing work (including the contributions to be made in respect of the work). (2) If adjoining owners do not agree (within 1 month after one of them has served a notice under section 11) as to the fencing work to be carried out, either owner may apply to the Local Court or a local land board for an order determining the manner in which the fencing work (if any) is to be carried out. DIVIDING FENCES ACT 1991 - SECT 9 Contribution when urgent fencing work is required 9 Contribution when urgent fencing work is required (1) This section applies to a dividing fence that has been damaged or destroyed (in whole or in part) and in the circumstances requires urgent fencing work. DIVIDING FENCES ACT 1991 - SECT 7 Contribution as between adjoining owners-generally 7 Contribution as between adjoining owners-generally (1) Adjoining owners are liable to contribute in equal proportions to the carrying out of fencing work in respect of a dividing fence of a standard not greater than the standard for a sufficient dividing fence. (2) An adjoining owner who desires to carry out fencing work involving a dividing fence of a standard greater than the standard for a sufficient dividing fence is liable for the fencing work to the extent to which it exceeds the standard for a sufficient dividing fence. (3) An adjoining owner who desires to carry out the trimming, lopping or removal of vegetation (as referred to in paragraph (b) of the definition of "fencing work" in section 3) for a purpose other than the provision of a sufficient dividing fence is liable for the expenses of carrying out the work to the extent to which those expenses are attributable to work done for that other purpose. DIVIDING FENCES ACT 1991 - SECT 6 General principle-liability for fencing work 6 General principle-liability for fencing work (1) An adjoining owner is liable, in respect of adjoining lands where there is no sufficient dividing fence, to contribute to the carrying out of fencing work that results or would result in the provision of a dividing fence of a standard not greater than the standard for a sufficient dividing fence. (2) This section applies whether or not a dividing fence already separates the adjoining lands (2) If it is impracticable to serve a notice under section 11 in respect of a dividing fence to which this section applies, an adjoining owner may, without serving such a notice, carry out the urgent fencing work required to restore the dividing fence. (3) The other adjoining owner is liable for half the cost (or a greater proportion if section 8 applies) of the urgent fencing work. (4) Any such liability may be reviewed by the Local Court or a local land board on the application by that owner to the Court or board within 1 month after the work has been completed (or within such later period as the Court or board may allow). I am sure you have already read the above points in the Act but just to clarify... If the other landlord does not agree you must get someone to state the fence is not standard "faulty, damaged, unsafe" otherwise you are liable to pay the cost of the whole fence and even in the event that you do get a report stating that, the other landlord is still able to object (why anyone would if they are getting a free fence baffles me though).
  24. http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/south-a...3-1226030788513 I went down this morning in hopes of doing my legal assignment for this, he was a no show as the article suggested, hopefully he gets a good sentence to reflect the Court wasting their time. The description is horrible
