  1. Out of curiosity which vet do you use, how much does it cost etc etc? I use the local vet here for the blood draw and then I mail it myself. I think from memory it was around $70 per dog plus $15 or so for express shipping.
  2. I titre test mine and they haven't had any vaccinations for almost 4 years (through Vetpath in WA). Parvo is tested here, I think it is hepatitis that is done overseas.
  3. I'm not sure if it is the same with dogs but worth asking your vet. My then 16 year old cat had what my vet thought was vestibulars but we ran full bloods and it turned out to be a potassium deficiency. Within 2 or 3 days of potassium tablets she was over the symptoms.
  4. I give my two GSDs Seaflex, Osteocare and VANS joint support plus Golden Paste (Tumeric). Maybe a bit overkill but my male has had bilateral THR and my female is on her way to one.
  5. I also use the same recipe as above for my female. My male will not go near it. Molly has a dodgy cruciate and on her opposite side HD. I can't say I have really noticed a difference but then she is on Previcox and supplements too.
  6. I have to agree with Xyz. My then 10 month old GSD was diagnosed with severe bilateral HD (my vet and two specialists - one who is super involved in the GSD world). He had his first THR at 1 and then a year later the other side done. He is about to turn 4 and he is like a brand new dog! I should also add that because I live in the boonies I had no access to physio etc. It cost me about $8000 per side.
  7. GSDs the constantly shedding, nothing is immune from hair.
  8. There is a FB group : Tumeric Users Group for lots of info if you are interested :)
  9. I have my girl on GP, she has a dodgy cruciate and HD which will eventually need surgery. She is also on a heap of supplements, Previcox and Cartrophen monthly. I honestly am not sure it has made any difference but as she eats it willingly and my vet said it's ok, I will keep on with it.
  10. When I am ready for my next dog, I will be hopefully going to Monsimbee. I have only heard good things from her and also my boys breeder knows her. ETA: I am only interested in working lines.
  11. Thank you Snook, I appreciate it :) I haven't been to Adelaide for probably 30 years! She's moving into a rehab home tomorrow so will wait a bit and see closer to her birthday where she will be.
  12. Ok thank you. I will leave this thread until a bit later as my Grandmother broke her hip 2 weeks ago and will hopefully be moving into a rehab facility in the next few days. So I'm not sure if she will even be home in November. But she lives in Broadview.
  13. blinkblink, I think I mean the northern suburbs of Adelaide (my parents stay in a hotel somewhere around there)! Thanks Ness, they look great. I appreciate it both of you :)
  14. My nearly 6 year old GSD who always carried a tennis ball around (before I knew better) has very worn teeth.
  15. Hi all, I am looking for some help please. My Grandmother will be 91 in November and I would like to visit her. I need accommodation myself and for 2 GSD's, preferably with some outside fencing so they can toilet etc off lead. Thank you in advance for any help.
  16. I would ask for your vet to forward any current xrays to an ortho specialist. My boy was 10 months old when diagnosed with severe HD. He has since had bilateral THRs.
  17. Hi all, I am possibly looking for pet friendly accommodation in Adelaide for November. Prefer North Adelaide and a big ask but a secure outside area for the dogs to toilet etc off lead. Thank you in advance :)
  18. I give probiotics when on abx, just at the opposite end of the day. This is what I do for myself and the critters have never had a problem.
  19. Oh she is lovely, such a nice dark mask!
