  1. Wishing you and your girl all the best, mu girl had a brief stint with pancreatitis, so for her no more lamp flaps or anything resembling fat. Because I am trying to get a little weight of her I switched from one Canidae dry food to the weight management formula. Less fat and calories.
  2. So much fun to be had in the muddy water!
  3. More GSD's Another Rotti! A Malinois A Grey
  4. That price from The Vet Shed is really good! I just started my girl on it tonight. She will most likely need a THR in her right hip but it's not yet bad enough so hopefully this will make a difference along with her medications and other supplements. Fingers crossed and thank you for starting this thread! I was told about it a while ago but forgot all about it.
  5. It is awful to see the severe anxiety. We have had good success with clomicalm, after trying xanax with no good results, plus other adjuncts too (DAP, thundershirt, music). I also allow sleeping in the bedroom when it is a bad thunder night. In a much better place now, but took a bit of trial and error, and I'm glad that the medications have helped. One day we might get off them. It is. There was one which just dulled her faculties but I could still see fear in her eyes and I just held her. I can't remember what that one was now, but we did find one which just made her sleepy rather than dull. It really is plain horrible to see them in such a state of fear. Molly is so bad she associates heavy rain with thunder so that sets her off. We started giving her a beta blocker to stop a heart attack after a consult with a veterinary behaviourist. And because we are rural, a farmer shooting also triggers a strong fear response.
  6. I saw this on FB last night and I too would be interested. I think though my girl is too far along with her intense thunder phobia. I used to play that cd but lost it somewhere in between moves. I also turn the radio up really loud, not sure that does anything. Our usual routine is I medicate her, Xanax and a beta blocker and just hold her really tight. DAP and thundershirts do nothing.
  7. I have had both dogs on it, one is still. We do a full blood panel every 6 months and so far (touch wood) all is good. I am using it for HD.
  8. Soulful is a great word to describe those photos. They are so stunning and I really, really, really want!!!!
  9. I too saw this on FB but it is worth reading again!!
  10. Thank you for posting that. My male has had bilateral THR's and my female has moderate HD. Not yet bad enough for surgery but just in the last few weeks she is not weight baring properly on it. Surgeon still says nope to surgery so we are trying acupuncture starting next week. It's a hideous disease process and so prevalent in my breed.
  11. And Cooper the big black WL GSD who is a complete clown, makes me laugh everyday and is scared of the wind so hides under my bed.
  12. Miss Molly the GSD. She is a sharp, loyal girl who loves the sound of her own voice.
  13. I cannot get over how stunning they are! Those faces make me want to smooch them! Seeing as how I have had so many health issues and ongoing with my GSDs, a little Rotti may have to be the next future puppy!!!! Ahhhh you have almost converted me!!!! :)
  14. I agree with the above, I had one of my German Shepherds littermate staying with us when we lived in QLD. 6 foot paling fences and the rails were on the other side, he jumped it clean. I now live rurally so have dog mesh (the strong type) surrounding the areas the dogs are allowed in. They are only in the big paddock (fenced) when we are there. They both sleep inside too.
  15. Great news and does that mean we can expect more photos pretty please!
  16. Thank you! I will keep that in mind :)
  17. Thank you both very much. I unfortunately can't do a great deal of training due to a chronic illness. I will try the reduced calorie/fat Canidae and see how she goes on that. She gets a monthly Cartrophen injection so will be easy to weigh her and tell how she is progressing (hopefully).
  18. Thank you again! You are right I have spent so much time on the computer searching for what I hoped would be her perfect answer! She will but with not nearly the same focus if I use her treats.
  19. Oh how I wish I was in a position to apply! I got my WL Cooper to do IPO with but then moved to Vic so vetoed that idea pretty fast. I wish you all the best in finding him the perfect home.
  20. Scottsmum, thank you re the Canidae, I did not even think to check them out! I am ordering now!
