  1. Yes how true. USA seem to have so much more dog related everything, streets ahead of us.
  2. Hankdog just picturing Jake & you sitting it out in the back of your car. 30 mins later. Gosh Jake takes stubborn to a whole new level doesn't he. You have the patience of a saint  . I understand what you are saying when you say Jake gets so much more. I feel the exact same way. Everything seems to always be about Stella here. Cause she is 'special needs' a bit like your Jake that it does seem to be that way. Its always Is Stella OK? Oh good girl Stel. Cause we go that extra mile with them. We have a lot emotionally invested in making sure they are the best that they can be. I have never owned a stubborn dog though. I think that would be extremely challanging. Stella is the complete opposite. She is so speedy fast with everything & very biddable. So I used to be the one left floundering to keep up. Lately though I feel a certain amount of change. I have had to lift my game with her big time & its working. Slowly but working. Hard to explain. Stella is a very weak nerved girl & that part of her will never be great. I have really improved my ability to read her though & that IMO is key. We can be out somewhere now & she is beginning to unravel I can usually interrupt her head space & bring her back without her redlining. If that makes sense. Where as previously I would of tried to sooth her & we usually never worked through anything. I have firmed up emotionally. On the outside anyway :p Also find if I ask her to do simple tasks when she is emotionally starting to kick off or becoming reactive, it distracts her. It gives her something else to think about & she comes back down quicker. She is a very intense girl. Her mind NEVER stops. So I'm quietly taking that as progress :D
  3. I have a dream to own a show BC dog one day & would love to have some much needed show lessons from Luci Ellem.
  4. Products like this I keep in mind for when we are caravaning which we do often. We have to keep everything as light as possible. So will be adding this to my list of suitable's. Kiwipeak is another fabulous dehydrated dry food. My guys absolutely love it.
  5. Hi nyssel, I have a friend that shows BC's. She had some lessons with Lucy Ellen at Erskine Park. She said she was great. Money very well spent ☺
  6. Totally agree with PME & Tassie. Well said guys☺
  7. Sorry no help but I have wondered what it's like so will follow with interest ☺
  8. Canetoad, Jess has a beautiful shiny coat. Looks so healthy
  9. R.I.P. darling Sarbi girl You most certainly earned it My condolences to your handler & his family. You will be hugely missed gorgeous girl...
  10. I doubt it is too much to worry about BD. I understand your concern though & it is quite scary & loud. Stella is by far the worst I have ever had. She gets herself very cranky at times. I firmly believe she could accidently bite me if I suddenly woke her. She doesn't dream nearly as much now that she is on meds.
  11. Stella is a shocker in her sleep. She is very vocal at times. Barks, growls, howls & runs. All 4 paws/legs move as if she is running. Sometimes with a full on lip curl. All the while sound asleep. My boy will growl whine & barks sometimes. Though with not nearly the intensity that my girl does. Our Vet suggested we quietly wake Stella by talking or coughing or something as she is Epilepsy effected & before she was medicated stress used to trigger a seizure.
  12. Gorgeous sunrise maddog ????
  13. Pedigree or not??? I don't know. There is NO question she was terribly abused & neglected She looks so happy in that last pic brightstar. Big smiley face. Truth is probably the happiest she has ever been
  14. Oh more gorgeous oldies Hazy  Poor puddie cat Being a white cat, perhaps they got cancer on them from the sun & had to be removed??? Or fly strike perhaps ??? Dear ol' thing. That is really great that they are free to adopt & discounts at the Vet There'd be lots of folks that just can't afford the $300 plus to adopt then Vets on top. The discounts would be a very welcome enabler for most animal lovers I reckon :)
  15. Breathtakingly beautiful gapvic ...
  16. Thank you VM ???? Sooky sounds like you have HEAPS on your plate....
  17. Same here Hazy... Sonny just looks at me sometimes when Miss Stella is having a moment like, "mum, really" He has a lot to put up with. He adores her & they get on like a house on fire. She isn't mean to him but she loves to play bitey face & legs so she will be at him lots. She also wants to be all over him, nuzzling him & kissing him. All the while he is lying back on his bed all regal like. this symbol describes her to a tee. She is very percessive over him though. Thats where the problems start. If another dog approaches Sonny, she will fly at them lightening fast, "rack off & get your own brother". Sonny is mine  Believe me she ain't pretty when she is mad
  18. Thanks for the link Caritia. I have pm'd you . Got notification that you replied to me but was just sent my own message back. Not sure what went on there. Not to worry. Just wanted to let you know was all. Life time ban. That's great but would love to know how they are going to police that??? I've everything crossed here for his May sentencing. Hope he gets jail time...
  19. Really enjoyed that article. Magnificent dogs ????
  20. I shouldn't look at this thread or this whole Rescue bit either westiemum. I love dogs so much & I worry myself sick about ones that don't have a loving home. Just so sad really.
  21. She's lovely brightstar. She smiling & looks so happy with life now, along with a spring in her step to boot. Really wonderful turn around. Big thanks to you. I'm not familar with this breed so I'm unsure if she isn't a full Keeshound. She is so pretty though. Her coat is flourishing as well ????
