  1. I have found that a baby/toddler neck support pillow works well for my toy breed dog. Also the very soft bean filled pillows (similar to a bean bag) work well too as they shape to fit and support the dogs neck. You can pick them up very cheaply at most op-shops and see if it will work for you. I have a couple of different ones you would be welcome to try if you lived close enough. PM me if interested in trying them or I can email you photos of them to show what they look like.
  2. I bought mine from From LoveMyFurBabies in Queensland. I haven't had the opportunity to try the diapers out yet but I am very happy with the belly bands I purchased at the same time. They used to advertise on DOL but don't seem to be there now. The web site is www.lovemyfurbabies.com.au and it has all the information. From memory the small ones I bought cost $15.00 + postage and there are different materials to choose from. The person was very helpful and the service was great.
  3. Search of vet practice registration board of Victoria = WATERFORD PARK VIC 3658 Tel:(04) 8837-2287 DR CATRIONA MARY HANLON Originally I would have said Broadford vet clinic as a brass plaque bearing her name was still on the building when I was there last week. Obviously she is no longer there (I don't use the clinic but had an appointment with a visiting vet specialist). I notice that there is a listing for Dr Cat's Vet Service in Clonbinane mobile number 0488 372 287 and Waterford Park is in Clonbinane so it might be worth trying.
  4. I buy my comfortis from this company and will continue to be a repeat customer while they are price competative and provide a great service. I usually receive my order within two-three days of payment and I am interstate.
  5. Cragieburn Animal Hospital in Cragieburn Road West deals with a lot of greyhound people especially the racing fraternity. They even have a special waiting room in the clinic just for greyhounds. This clinic is also used by a lot of the show and breeding fraternity too!! I understand they also have another clinic in Epping but as I haven't attended there I am not sure if it is used by as many greyhound people. If the person is in Healesville it might pay to check with Healesville Racing Club in Don Road Healesville as they may have a vet with an interest in greyhounds visit the area on a regular basis like some of the other tracks do.
  6. Sorry my printer/scanner is out of action and hubby has laptop and scanner at work but I could give a written explain the layout if that would help.
  7. As there are only four (4) rings i am presuming that groups are changing to suit judging appointments rather than have the judges move to different rings.
  8. I believe your are correct - bought to attention again after the incident on the weekend. Only wish the general advice given by a Lost Dogs Home representative when the incidents originally happened was heeded by more people - Don't leave children under 12 with a dog unsupervised.

  11. HAVE YOUR SAY: Doncaster dog bite victim out of hospital Crime 18 Apr 12 @ 05:00am by Shaun Turton THE son of former AFL player and Doncaster resident Nathan Thompson has been released from hospital after he was attacked by an unrestrained american staffordshire terrier. The attack, which happened about 4.50pm on April 11 at Doncaster Reserve, left Louis Thompson, 8, in Box Hill Hospital with deep bites to one leg while his little brother Benjamin, 6, was traumatised. >> Have you been the victim of a dog attack? Tell us below. The former North Melbourne forward said he was only a couple of metres from his sons when the dog, which was with a male owner and off its leash, attacked. “I turned to check but by then it was too late,” Mr Thompson said. “Unprovoked, it attacked my son.” He was able to pry the dog’s jaws from his son’s leg. Mr Thompson said doctors had told his family that Louis, who was released from the hospital yesterday, should be able to continue playing with the Doncaster Junior Football Club’s under-9 team again in a month. He said he was extremely upset and would “explore his options”. Manningham Council is holding the dog at its pound while police investigate the incident
  12. Girl hospitalised after dog attack Goya Dmytryshchak April 21, 2012 - 6:01PM A FIVE-year-old girl is in hospital after being attacked by a dog at Hadfield in Melbourne's north just before 4pm. Ambulance Victoria spokesman Ray Rowe said paramedics attending the Bond Street home found the girl with lacerations to her upper body, apparently inflicted as the dog tried to pull her to the ground. She was taken to the Royal Children's Hospital in a stable condition. 15. Received numbers in the mail today for both shows - with note advising Mr T Valli would be replacing Ms F Prideaux.
  16. OH had a phone call from company delivering goods - his instructions were to leave goods near the gate but delivery man said the dog didn't worry so he delivered into the back yard. Only problem was our German Shepherd was standing between him and the exit hence his call for help!!!
  17. I had a dogs teeth cleaned by the vet and within a month the build up started to come back. Spoke to vet and he recommended knuckle bones, and while I can provide them it is getting him to chew them that is the problem. All he does it take everyone's bones and buries them. If you decide to sell the bottle down the track I would be interested - will try it as I am not really thrilled with the idea of continually having his teeth cleaned at the vets and brushing isn't solving the problem.
  18. Can't comment on the show trolley although I have bought some dog equipment from that EBay seller. Only question is the quality of the wheels if/when you started pushing it loaded up. I have watched them on EBay but usually they go for around the $150 - $200 mark if they went really cheap I might consider trying one. I have a round grooming table similar to that one, I bought it second hand and love it for grooming my small dogs. It is one of my best purchases. I had a larger table (which is now on the outside verandah) as it was too bulky for the room I was using. Another bonus is that you can adjust the height of the table to suit you as well as it rotating.
  19. Man seriously injured in Sydney dog attack A man was seriously injured when a dog mauled him in Sydney's southwest. The man, aged in his 50s, was attacked by the dog in the front yard of his home Kingarth Street, Busby, about 6.35pm (AEST) on Tuesday. He suffered injuries to his hands and forearms and was rushed to Liverpool Hospital for surgery. The dog was caught by Liverpool Council staff about 8pm (AEST) after it was penned in the front yard. Police say inquiries are continuing to establish who owns the animal.
  20. I have also heard of using junket tablets as well. I don't know how successful as I haven't had to used either on my dogs. I know junket tablets have been mentioned along with ginger in older DOL threads on the subject.
  21. Late last year there was a similar thread - I remember reading it with interest as I had a litter at the time and was considering desexing them prior to leaving here and thought this method would be best at that age. I rang my vet but they didn't do the procedure. I can't seem to locate the particular thread at the moment but if I remember correctly in Victoria it was Monash and also a vet in Bairnsdale. With regard to the other states I can't remember exactly where. Sorry I can't be of more help but if I find the original thread I will repost it

  23. Given that people have been know to lie/cheat (eg, by substituting one dog for another), I don't think any lab that allows people to take their own swabs should be certified. For that matter, you could end out with false results just through poor record keeping . . . you don't need dishonesty. Someone has four or five dogs done at once and the labels get switched somewhere. There is a reason for certification procedures. Think of the harm that might be done if a popular sire was actually Optigen B and his test results came through as Optigen A. While owners are able to take and send in a swab to be tested the results are not certified. Only those results from samples with verified microchip details collected by an authorised collector or vet will have certified results. On the Genetic Analysis Report by ASAP Laboratory the document lists the owners details, animals details - pedigree name, pet name, registration no, microchip number, sex, breed of dog, date of test, and name of collector together with the lab identification no. for the sample. Even though I believed my bitch to be PRA clear by parentage - I only had a certified result for one of her parents so I submitted swabs taken from her by my vet for testing. The results confirmed her clear status so I now have a the certified report to vertify her PRA status. I believe the testing labs are aware that there have been some problems associated with the collection of samples in the past and I know ASAP are endeavouring to rectify it with their stipulations regarding collection.
