  1. Every second day, she tends to do most of her business whilst on walks so there's usually not that much in the yard.
  2. Sorry for being off topic, but thank you RiverStar-Aura and Chris the Rebel Wolf, Bella loves compliments Back on topic, maybe a clamshell pool sandpit with treats hidden?
  3. I'd use one if one was nearby. Would definitley attract more responsible owners than parks that anyone can use. I'd certainly be happy to pay membership if I had a more dog park-friendly dog. (Don't think her recall's quite there!) Trees would make it nicer, and provide shade.
  4. If he will be outside then maybe ice lollies with treats inside will keep him occupied on warmer days?
  5. Bella can sometimes be rather destructive when left alone. I give her different toys/activities on different days to make it more interesting. She has a Kong and a Kong Wobbler (the latter is probably the more better one for boredom as there is more activity, but I don't think it'd be too strenuous).
  6. I really like 'Shampooch' and 'Vanity Fur', some very creative suggestions, OP will surely have a hard time choosing between them!
  7. I voted Percy, but I like Pepper as well.
  8. I'm so sorry for your loss. Rest in peace gorgeous boy. xx
  9. I haven't gone away since getting Bella, but will be next year, she will most likely be staying home with Mum, who she lives with anyway. She might stay with a friend of mine for a few days, my friend is a Greyhound person so is sighthound-savvy, and Bella adores her Grey.
  10. Gazelle Hound is another name for the Saluki, I have a Saluki (and adore the breed) so it'll do- not much imagination went into it!
  11. Bella is very big on licking, her greetings are always very wet! She only licks my mum's toes though, never mine!
  12. Terribly, terribly sad. So sad that is wasn't possible to just tranquilise. I guess we must just be thankful that the poor animals were killed before getting a chance to attack humans or domestic animals. I can understand if it was getting dark, tranquilising just would not work, the animal would have run off into the darkness before going to sleep, and by the time they find it again, could have woken up and gone anywhere. Such a tragic waste of life.I am very much in favour of a ban on exotic pets, or at very least legislation requiring that they be kept in the same minimum standards accredited zoos must keep. I agree with Reverend Jo, thank goodness there were no chimps let loose, I can only imagine how badly that would have ended.
  13. That's a really lovely idea, it's good to hear that they will have zoo staff looking after them. I wonder if this has been done before anywhere else.
  14. Looks like a great day was had :D I LOVE Indi's glamour look, how talented of him to run so fast AND look like a supermodel at the same time! I'm muchly looking forward to taking Bella along in the 30th, her recall has gotten very good (I'm rather impressed with her!) so hopefully she won't be too difficult to catch afterwards- though it looks like running back to their human parents is half the fun!
  15. Bella is a solo dog for now. As I'm studying and living at home at the moment with my mum who's most definitley a 'one-dog person' I don't imagine I'll get a second for a few years, but I would like a second (or third!) Saluki once I've left home.
  16. Bella tends to stare intently at the television if there are dogs running on, she doesn't seem so interested if they're not moving much. The thing that usually gets her attention is the RSPCA ad with all the animals walking across the screen. Last week she stared at the TV while there were Salukis on, not looking away, but lost interest as soon as another breed was featured. I think she may be a bit breed-ist!
  17. Thank you! She's from Baghdad Salukis, her registered name is Baghdad Cool Coquette. I imagine she would love lure coursing if an opportunity came up!
  18. That's a shame it's only for small dogs, I'd love to do lure coursing with my saluki. My friend, who will be getting a deerhound and I were just talking today about how great it would be if there was somewhere we could go lure coursing with our hounds. If there is anywhere suitable for larger dogs to give it a go I'd love to hear about it.

  20. I've got a Saluki at the moment, I hope to have more Salukis in the future, I love them! My list of other breeds I'd like to own is as follows: Afghan Hound Borzoi Leonberger Great Dane Newfoundland Groenendael
  21. I don't have any photos to share, but you don't get much cuter puppies than Salukis and Borzois!
  22. Really sad that someone would do that, I hope your daughter is OK and has better luck in finding the perfect puppy soon.
  23. I'm going to go, I won't have a pooch with me but it'll be nice to see everyone else's dogs. I've never been before and am quite looking forward to it
