It's hard to imagine when it hurts so much that as time goes on the heart doesn't feel so heavy. It's not about forgetting because how could we? It's about memories filled with love..... You gave her so much....a mutual bond.....mutual love which I'm sure she is forever grateful for. Thinking of you.

So sorry.....rest in peace knowing you were loved & adored. Another Angel you know...

Rest in peace sweet girl. Varicool, you gave her a chance and love which is something I'm sure she is forever grateful for. Another Angel you know...

You need to ad Vit E unless the Fish Oil you are giving already has Vit E in it, it will say on the Label. It's always a good idea to check dosages with your vet.
-
We work on 1 capsule per 10kgs of body weight plus the all important Vit E every 2nd day. See below information... "Fish oil is one of my favorite supplements for a variety of problems in both dogs and cats. As you mentioned, even normal pets can benefit from improved haircoats when supplemented with fatty acids such as fish oil. In pets, fish oil is useful for reducing inflammation in pets with allergic skin disease and kidney failure. It possibly also helps pets with heart disease and osteoarthritis. Studies show that pets fed high doses of fish oil also have better control of cancer. Extra vitamin E is needed when giving fish oil on a regular basis as fish oil supplemented for many months can lower vitamin E levels (most fish oil supplements contain additional vitamin E for this reason.) Side effects are very rare using fish oil. In my practice, a very few number of dogs develop a fishy smell. Fish oil may decrease platelet aggregation and prolong bleeding time. Pets taking high doses (3-4 times the label dose or greater) should be monitored for bleeding disorders, although I have not seen this even with these larger doses. There is concern about environmental contamination of fish oil with toxins. Studies have shown that fish meat (not oil) may be contaminated with methylmercury." Dr. Shawn Messonnier

Um I think there 15-20 dogs there and a perhaps 10 owners.

An Epi-pen is used for people who have sevre allegeries that may cause death. I would think it would be unlikely that a vet would give you one as I think sometimes it can cause more harm than good if given to an animal who didn't absolutely need it....someone may need to correct me on this. Best to ask your vet what you can keep on hand incase of another sting, may just need to administer an anti-histimine if it's not a dyer situation. However you mentioned your dogs breathing became labored so I would think that this is a more serious case.

Have You Ever Made Big Mistakes In Judgement
sas replied to Lablover's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
With my current foster dog I had done 2 weeks of recall training....let him off...was being very good and recalling everytime then he spots a human and takes off after him to say hello, the person was over 100 metres away and he wouldn't recall *bangs head* -
Have You Ever Made Big Mistakes In Judgement

I've made errors in judegment with one of my previous boys who is now in heaven. First error in judegment was me thinking his aggression issues were minor and easily fixed. Second error in judgement was me thinking he would not jump a 2 metre high balcony to get at another dog. Loved him to bits but did make me more paranoid with future dogs. -

I recently saw a Pug x Chi in Macquairie Shopping Centre.....a lot bigger than I would have imagined.....about 3 times the size of your puppy now.....I certainly hope you didn't spend the $1,100 macquarie was charging. I personaly think that the puppy is far too young to be left by itself whilst you are at work. You'll also most likely have trouble toilet training....it may take longer than normal, as with petshops they are forced to toilet where they sleep and eat. Don't expect her to be toilet trained any time soon, it's like expecting a new born baby to walk itself to the toilet all on its own. You may want to invest in a doggy spray that will remove the scent of the toileting accident from the floor otherwise she may go back to that area to do it again. You can find Crates for afordable prices here Click here You may also want to look into pens Click here I'm glad you love her, however I do think it's sad you brought her on impluse because she is cute. Has she been to 'your' vet for a check up yet? Are you familiar with what health problems pugs and chi's are faced with? It should be something you should be very familiar with so you can keep an eye on your girl. You may also like to learn why people in the doggy world do not support puppies in petshops Click here

Constant Barking - Neighbours Complain - Help!
sas replied to KatLek's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I mentioned not to stress to soon as there are processes that have to happen when things like this go through a Council....what I meant is there is still time to work through issues. How about being positive with the poster eh. -
She's adorable. Quick question.....what happened with the colour mix up exactly? Chocolate brown is lovely but if you were told she was black and tan? What are your future plans with her? Obedience?
-
Adorable!

I've been working Leila really hard lately and Steve I really wanted to show you how she is going... hahaha no seriously, Leila is doing well and I'll take some snap shots just to prove that a High Sofa Drive Pooch can work and get results in food drive

Constant Barking - Neighbours Complain - Help!
sas replied to KatLek's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Typically your neighbour would have to provide a bark diary to prove her claims. Do you get on with any of your other neighbours? Can they confirm what your neighbour is saying? or can they back you up? Don't freak out quite yet. I think it's a good idea to do a test leave, i.e. put pooch outside and pretend you're going out and then listen to see how much barking is going on and then sneak a peak and see what she is barking at. You really need to figure out the reason for the barking. If it appears to be simple boredom then try things like bones, kongs, chew toys, home alone boredom busters, sand pits, clam shell paddling pool, scattering treats around the yard. If the worst comes to the worst you may need to research into different types of bark collars are which ones are allowed in your state. Many people on the forum have their own opinion on these devices, however my personal opinion is that when the worst comes to the worst and you have tried other methods to try and stop the barking this is one of the next steps when you are risking having trouble with the council. I would go next door and have a chat with them or if you don't feel comfortable to do this, pop a 'nice' letter in their letter box thanking them for the notification and ask them if they can please provide you with their bark diary so you can see when she is specifically barking so that you can start to work on the problem, let them know they are welcome to pop around for a chat as their help will assist in fixing the problem. It may also be worth contacting your council to see what the ruilings are on barking. All the best and keep us updated!
