Cordy's Rescue years ago had a litter of pups, from memory they were purebreds and I think from memory three were intersex...genetic or congenital? *shrugs* You'd need to speak to someone who specialises in that kind of thing. Was the Breeder to blame...well no of course not if both sets of genitals were not clearly visable.

Some Good And Bad News...depending On How You See It
sas replied to aussielover's topic in General Dog Discussion
I don't want to sound horrible but are you sure you want to keep an allergic dog? Owning one with severe allergic skin disease is expensive and an emotional journey, the dogs do suffer and the ones that have no choice but to live on medication don't always have the most awesome times....competing in performance sports can be done but if the dog has a flare up which they often do you can be waiting months for them to recover sometimes....their mental state isn't always the best either when they feel absolute crap due to their condition. If you do decide to kudos to you Get in to see the Derm asap :D -
Dante (Great Dane) has sent me flying once...just going for our normal walk and we stopped so he could pee on his 'pee tree', I was just standing there with the loose lead letting my mind wander and then next thing I know I'm flying....what I failed to notice was 3 cats sitting in the front yard of where his pee tree is....I ended up having to let go as there was a fallen tree he jumped over and I was about to crash into, I ended up going smack into a colour bond fence and spraining 2 fingers pretty bad....he stopped when he got to the cats as he didn't know what to do *shakes head*

Do You Refer To Yourself As You Dogs "mum Or Dad"?

Sure, why not. If your dog knows its a dog and is happy and balanced then use whatever word you fancy. -
Why Is Aus Becoming So Non Dog Friendly

The European dogs I believe are generally more well behaved in public because they have that opportunity. Dogs are not welcome in many public places in Australia and therefore the dogs are not greatly socialised on those levels....if they were then I believe they would be similar to the European dogs. -
Looks like a happy chappy.

My natural eared Danes have no ear infection issues or anything like that. They were Boar hunters and their ears were cropped to prevent them from being injured. Surgery for cosmetic purposes on animals is not something I agree with and therefore do not agree with cropping Great Dane ears...more and more Danes in America are being left natural now even in the show ring which I think is great.

'impure' Dalmatian Angers Traditionalists At The Elite Pedigre
sas replied to shortstep's topic in General Dog Discussion
I've read about Fiona's history and I think her Breeder is certainly on top of their game. It's similar to opening the stud book i.e. Boxer vs Corgi wasn't it? In this case Fiona's Pointer history is indeed for the 'betterment' of the breed, she looks like a Dalmatian and she's many generations a dalmatian. Breeders in my opinion of Dallie's should welcome what she brings to the breed.....better health. I'd be more than happy to show and own a Great Dane with cross bred history that looks like a Dane and is a Dane via many generations if it was for the betterment of the breed. -
Just reporting in that the allergic boy is coping much better and is not settled back into Black Hawk.

Did he only just discover he can howl?

I've heard people say this people, what kind of strength would you use to do the scruff though, people can under do it or over do it.

Not the topic of conversation. If you want to start that topic start a new one, it's been done to death.

Immunisation Protocols & The Older Dog

Ir's your personal decision and based on the latest research I think that should help you make a decision. I haven't vaccinated my old girl from 6-10 years of age. -
My boy has had mystery blood spots before, turned out to be a blood nose.
-
I'm all for complementary treatments when all else fails or as safe preventatives however would not use them instead of something known to work when your dogs life is on the line.

Shoo Tag is not Homeopathic.

My mum smokes and Orbit lived around her during the first part of his life. He tested positive to cigarette smoke with his allergy tests. Not sure how correct it was, but I always used it against her to make her smoke well away from the backyard!! Ditto with Dante being allergic to cigarette smoke.
-
When I was a smoker I didn't care. Now I'm not a smoker I care.

I had a foster who such a tart and my boy is a humper and she just teased him so badly I really felt for him even though he's desexed he once knew what it was like to be an entire horny boy...she just constantly backed up to him and invited him on and well he couldn't say no!

Speak to your Vet and Breeder. If it were me as the owner of a dog with severe allergic skin disease I would be sending the puppy back if it is infact an allergic dog.
-
How about pick your thongs up and put them elsewhere. Pick up anything you don't want the puppy touching. There are 101 reasons not to get a 2nd puppy, I really reccomend you don't.
-
I believe cross breeding as well as pure 'BYB's' and 'puppyfarmers' unethical. I know a large group of Breeders Registered and Unregistered in my choosen breed that do no health testing and don't provide life time support and don't screen homes.....Ching Ching Ching!

LOL off to a good start. Ok so please tell us exactly where the writer has gone wrong, what exacty do you disagree with? I've edited my response to state that.

Unfortunately it's too late. Pet Insurance companies see Skin as one condition so for example if you saw the Vet for allergies 10 years ago and now said dog has Mange then they won't cover it. Been there done that.
