  1. Good luck on thursday! I recently found out my little dog has massive cancers (really nasty cancer that had already spread) in her abdomen, i then took her to the specialist to statisfy myself with the diagnosis and see what they thought with treatments. Unfortunatley the diagnosis was still terrible, and i didnt want to put her through a massive and risky surgery just to get another possible three months from her so we are now doing palative care. The vets have been great and said there is no need atm to put her to sleep as she is still comfortable and happy (though eating is the hard part). It made me feel better to get a specialists opinion and all the vets have been very happy for her to go with palative care rather to rush and put her to sleep. Good luck with your girl, i have no advice other than to say if the dog still has quality of life then im sure the vets will be more than happy to help you along with keeping her happy and not rush to put to sleep.
  2. Oh sorry i should have been clearer, she doesnt have pancreatits but because of one of the masses being attached to the pancreas there is a risk but im not sure how great. I bought some shaved turkey breast today and she ate the whole 100gm over the space of the afternoon!! Plus a few mouth fulls of some beef natures gift in gravy. I really didnt think of turkey so thank you whoever suggested it as she loved it. I might try to cook up a broth tomorrow as well. Please keep the suggestions coming as i am finding them all valuable.
  3. Her fav spot is on my bed, there is now tuna on the blanket but its a small price to pay for her to eat
  4. Thank you so much everyone!!! She actually ate a small tin of tuna last night and a a few mouths of cooked lamb mince and this morning she ate a couple of bits of tuna. I might try to get some kangaroo mince today and turkey slices. Its extra hard as she has always been a picky eater so even things like peanut butter and yohgurt she wouldnt touch. I am offering her anything and everything i eat as well. Its so hard to know i dont have her for much longer and its hard not to be constantly feeling down about it.
  5. This is Tala (thanks Boronia :D ). Thanks for all the suggestions. I have a few things to add for the shopping list tomorrow now. Will have to get some a/d too for when i need it and i can syringe it.
  6. I cant work out how to attach a pic
  7. Thanks guys, i just got her to eat a few mouth full's of cooked lamb mince. I tried her with cheese and no luck, and tried the cat food. She ate alittle smoked salmon last night but as one of the tumours is attached to her pancrease, pancreatitis is a real risk with food like that but i will get a tin of salmon in water i think. Trying to attach a pic of the little monkey, hope it works. Just sucks, this time last weekend i thought i had a healthy dog She was so well.
  8. Hi, My 12yr old PomX has just the other day been diagnosed with two massive tumours (hemangiosarcoma) in her abdomen and has only been give a few weeks to live due to the spread and what they are attached to in her body. She is still happy in herself and is on medications but her appietite isnt great, i have given her with varying success roast chicken, egg, tucker time, canned tuna and mince cooked and raw whatever way she will take it. Can anyone suggest some other tasty foods i havent thought of yet? She eats a tiny amount per day and im supplementing with nutri-gel twice a day. Its all come as a massive shock and i cant stop fussy over her to make her comfy and happy doing things she loves with the time she has left.
  9. I love Leave in Lusture from Animal House, you can either put it on neat or make it up in a spray bottle. They also have a product called Vita Riche which i would like to try, and i also use their coat spray which is very good. http://www.animalhouse.com.au/modcore/module_about_us/frontend/
  10. I will swap you dogs  My fussy one that eats like a sparrow for your little piglet. Sooo much easier with the piglets.
  11. My girl has been going great on the VAN, its definatly making me more of a RAW follower. Although she does still get some innova biscuits and ziwi peak as well, but its primarily VAN she gets. It seems to agree with her and she looks great, but it can still be a bit of a challange at times to get her to eat it as she is a very fussy dog who if it was up to her would just eat roast chicken all day.
  12. I had a silky terrier who passed away a year ago. Very smart little dog with a true terrier nature, very loyal, trusting and sweet with the family but she took awhile to warm up to people outside the family.
  13. Would he put up with his teeth being cleaned with an electric toothbrush? I clean my dog's teeth with an oralB electric toothbrush and it does a fantastic job.
  14. What about rabbit? Im currently feeding mine the mix with kangaroo but she has started to turn her nose up at it. Is rabbit good for fussy old dogs?
  15. I personally wouldnt be using malaseb as a 'often' ear cleaner (Malaseb is now 1ml to 50ml of water, 1:30 was since revised to 1:50). I use Epi-Otic which is pretty cheap comes in a 250ml bottle, and milo's is a good product as i used to use it when it was leo's.
  16. If they will let you brush i would. I brush my poms teeth with an oral b electric toothbrush, i swear by it for her, its so much easier than doing it with a manual.
  17. I think for the domestic market price would be the number one factor as otherwise people would just buy the commercial types. I have a midi conmurra hydrobath for my pomeranianX so the big drawing card was for a powerful pump so i could get through her coat and wash out dead hair (has cut down on brushing heaps). It has a single tank which has been fine for my use. Alot of other stuff i couldnt imagine if you were trying to keep costs down would be practical like double doors, tie up points, shampoo caddys or even heaters if aiming for the domestic market. It sounds exciting though, i really hope it all comes off as i would love to see the finished model. At the right price i bet it would be a big seller too I love my hydrobath, its simple but it does the job well. Different colours would be good, i would have loved my hydrobath to be pink.
  18. I was a vet nurse for 8yrs before i couldnt continue anymore due to the low pay. I felt like i was getting no where in life and relised liking my job wasnt enough, i had no savings and was living from pay to pay which was very stressful. I also felt like i was getting ripped off, working extra hours with no overtime pay only time off in leiu. I am now working in a job with great working conditions, hours and pay!! I am now able to get overtime pay which is a great boost, i have savings in the bank and feel so much happier and better about where i am heading. For me i would rather an ok job with good pay then a great job with crap pay. As a single person i couldnt live on the pay and it was getting me down. I would really think hard about what you want in life and what you want to achive, for me a job is a job for money, weekends are for fun. Good luck
  19. Thanks VAN for the reply, its good to know.

  21. http://www.hamishmcbeth.com/products/category_list.asp Hope the link works for you
  22. Google Hamish McBeth and order straight from them from their website, they are based in Brisbane. When i ordered mine it arrived in a couple of days.
  23. You can use comfortis off label with cats, just check with your vet the doseage.
  24. Panzer Attack, i would be checking the levels of sulfer dioxide in the made up one as the "VAN Pet Cafe" one was in the courier mail with the super high levels in it. Though i have heard the Pet Cafe one bought the recipe from Dr Bruce to market it under their company name (even though Dr Bruce's name is still on it). When it first came out the guy at the Pet Cafe proudly told me how before its opened it doesnt need to be refriderated It maybe different to the VAN meat in the green packet. Would love to hear from the VAN rep on here regarding this I still love the product but just like to make it up myself so i know there is definatly no preservatives.
  25. I feed my dog this, i mix it with human grade roo meat from the supermarket. She loves it and does really well on it, her coat is fantastic and her poos are great on it, i really notice a difference if i run out and have to feed other food with runny poos.
