  1. They can drain it then do a dexadreson injection into it. But if it doesnt resolve surgery is the only option.
  2. Looks like i can join this thread now In 9 weeks i will be a proud griffon owner :D
  3. Thats great news My last dog tore her cruciate and what a process of recovery for her. Glad this one didnt have to go through that.
  4. What so all unemployed people do volunteer work? Thats news to me. Pets are a luxuary so there will never be a medicare for pets.
  5. A lady i work with lost her 7mth old BichonX last week to a tick, he died at the vets. Very sad, it shows how vigilant you have to be all year round.
  6. Those poor pigs, what a horrible death
  7. Hugs to you kitkat. He looked like a real sweetie. I always find it helps to get their ashes back, it feels kind of like they are back home with you.
  8. I know its too late for the the op now but intradermal stiches are great. When i was vet nursing our clinic changed to intradermal sutures for all desexings (dogs and cats male and female) which pretty much eliminated the need for e-collars, we only ever had one male dog get his out partly.
  9. Is it true Frenchies are really ...um...shall I say...flatulent? A Breeder told me this. Don't know about Frenchies, but Pugs are extremely flatulent (that's such a delicate way of putting it!)! Archie has only ever farted once....and that was loud, and even the cats where looking at him like How Could You! Archie just pretended it wasn't him. But no not all Pugs are flatulent :p Lynn I remember once my old silky terrier farted and she got a fright turned around and sniffed it then got up and walked away. She was such a lady
  10. I have been looking at the griffons too, so cute. Think its the pug though, i think i realised deep down its the pug i want.
  11. Well im leaning to the pug at the moment, still going to visit some bostons tomorrow but i keep coming back to pugs.
  12. Huga, just the reading i have done. Though im probably over reading into things. There is so much conflicting info its stuiped, i just want to make the right decision, picking a breed should be fun but its doing my head in
  13. Thanks guys. The shedding of the pug doesnt really worry me as i figure with my hydrobath and a furminator i may be able to make it not so bad. Im really finding it hard to choose. I have spoken to some lovely boston breeders and it seems it may not be a very long wait depending on sexes in litters. I guess i worry about the quite large amount of negative feedback on the bostons on the net in regards to their temprement with other dogs. I really love the frenchie as well but worry about any health probs.
  14. I have been researching the next dog to add to the family and am stuck on either a pug or boston terrier. Does anyone have any experience with the bostons? There seems to be alot of conflicting info on them about how they are with other dogs, some say great alot says not so great. My sister has a 2.5kg very sweet chihuahua that the pup would be baby sat with some of the time so it has to be dependable with other dogs and preferably other animals. I will be seeing some bostons on saturday to actually meet in real life and get a better feel for them but any info would be great!
  15. I had a silky who would lose all her hair from both her ears, both her back legs from the knees down and on the bridge of her nose, the hair on the ears and nose would grow back but fall out again (it was all even off both sides). After lots of tests came up with no results the vets put it down to hormones (she was desexed though). Other than that she did drink abit of water but everything was tested and she was determined to be healthy. Good luck getting results, i know how frustrating it can be.
  16. Yeah - I tried to explain that it takes months of planning to find a nice puppy - but he was just annoyed that no one is answering their phones today.. people like that are just too hard. I would have been tempted to say not everyone opens for Sunday Trading and your pug puppy stock is still in shipment from china.
  17. After my pomX passing away a couple of weeks ago and my silky passed 18months ago i decided to get their portrait done as a lovely reminder of my little monkeys. Very happy with how it turned out and the artist who painted it was awesome to deal with. I get it this week as well as Tala's ashes so it is very fitting. I would love to see any portraits that anyone else has got done of their dogs, please share :)
  18. Persephone, she loved the turkey you suggested in her suggestions of tasty food thread :) that was the last food she would eat.
  19. I dont really know what to write as i am completly shattered and have a massive hole left im my heart. Tala i hope you know i loved you like crazy, you were my little golden child who never put a foot wrong, who loved everyone and everyone loved you. Even at 12 i feel like i was robbed of you too soon, i hoped i would have had you forever but it wasnt meant to be, you got sick so quickly and you werent given very long, i hope you enjoyed what we had left together till i had to make that terriable and painful decision. Love you so much my little girl and i miss you so bad it hurts. At least you will be pain free and be able to play with your big sister and brother again. xxxxxxoooooo miss you more than words can say
  20. On my pomX who had a very pommy coat i would brush every bit of her with a good pin brush straight before her bath (though i cheat and i do have a hydrobath for her, great for getting hair out) I would shampoo with plush puppy or animal house shampoo. Then condition with plush puppy or isle of dog conditioner, then rinse and use a leave in spray conditioner/detangler/anti static (animal house brand). Then i would blow dry while brushing with the pin brush again, doing this in sections till dry. Then i would just trim her feet and she was done. Moulting time i would lightly go over her with the mars coat king as she would shed like crazy.
  21. Pet insurance is a great idea, my next dog will be getting covered. Sorry for your loss
  22. Hugs to you mumscats, its never an easy decision.
  23. I agree with Staffyluv, just go and see what they say. I still wonder if i should go for surgery but then are reminded by the fact the cancer has spread so she most likely would be put to sleep on the table i was told. Its a hard decision but whatever one you make is right for you and your dog. Good Luck :)
