If we're out Ollie is outside, luckily there's like an awning over the concrete area so he'll lie in the corner where it's cool on his tummy. I freeze blocks of ice which he'll occasionally lick and chew at. I also soak a bandana in ice cold water and wrap it around his neck :)

I've left my cavalier at a kennel for a couple of weeks too when I went overseas. He came back to me stress-free and his usual excitable self. I was nervous the first few days he was there but regularly checked up on him over the phone. If it's a good kennel everything will be fine!

Napolean! It's a really old movie and I use to watch it religiously as a kid. I was obsessed with the puppy in it.

The new, expensive waterproof bed is not the right texture. He decides to pee on it multiple times so I will give up and return his old Reject Shop bed to him.

Is it assuming that all puppies bought from BYB will end up killed, in a pound or used a bait though? I kind of find that harsh and a bit offensive Yes, I got mine from a BYB because I was very uninformed back then and had no idea how wrong it was until I joined this forum. But my dog means the absolute world to me and is a part of my family, and I don't intend on "using him as bait" or putting him in a pound.

I remember my pup was pretty lethargic and sore after his 12 week vaccination too. He yelped when I tried to pick him for a cuddle. My vet warned me of those symptoms though :)

My Cav usually gets fed dinner around 6pm and knows it as well. At 5.45 he already starts getting restless and paces up and down the yard

Yep the lid comes off. I've tried that before and he would still just take his bedding out, but I think it was in the wrong spot like you guys mentioned. He likes to sleep near the sliding door so he can see what we're up to, so I'll move it to the middle of yard. I have a feeling it wobbles a little too since our paving is a bit uneven some places... thank you so much
-
Thanks I'll try that also! :)

Oh yep I remember my mum mentioning that he might not like it because he can't see what's going on, he's a huge sticky beak haha. Probably explains why he likes the crate so much. The carrier he slept in had small gaps for him to see through as well. Wish I had thought of this before I bought it, it will most likely end up sitting there collecting dust forever!

I didn't consider the weather at all, that's a good point. I'll try feeding him in there since meal times are his favourite parts of the day! Thank you! :)

Hey guys, My 11 month old Cavalier likes to spend most of the day outside but refuses to go into the kennel I bought many months ago. He will only go inside to pull his bedding out. When he was a lot younger he use to happily sleep inside a carrier used for car travel, I'd just remove the door from it. Since he eventually grew out of it I bought him one of those Coolaroo kennels from Bunnings but he absolutely hates it. Is there any way to train him to like it? He loves his crate though and sleeps in it at night. Any advice would be great! :)

I give heartworm tablets monthly except during winter and all wormers every 3 months. We have so many mosquitoes outside during Summer/Spring and I get paranoid!

I laughed out loud at that, funniest description of poo I've ever read! mixeduppup, that is foul!! I no longer think Ollie eating his own poop is bad haha. I'm usually disgusted when I pull out things like used band aids and chewing gum that he picks up and chews on walks but that's nothing compared to what some of you guys have mentioned!

How Much Is Fair To Board A Pup For 2 Weeks

I would be ecstatic with $12. I have to pay $32 a night for a kennel since I don't know anyone nearby who'd be able to take him in. -
Kennel Recs For Riley & Quinn In Sydney

I know it's not quite the same, but I've used Hanrob in Heathcote who I was quite happy with. Most of the people I encountered there were such friendly people and clearly love what they do. Unfortunately he did get kennel cough, but they caught it in the very early stages and had him vet-checked and put on meds right away. They happily paid the vet bills since he is fully vaccinated from it! For his first time being away from us for a fairly long period of time he seemed very stress-free and was his normal, excitable self when we picked him up. If you leave a comment on their Facebook page they'll update you on how your dog's doing and also upload photos of them. Or you can just ring :) haha. -
Ollie is Olls, Ollykins and Fatty.

I don't really know what they have to complain about when you've offered them a place to stay at no cost. Motels etc. are not cheap over the holiday period so you're doing them a huge favour and saving them a lot of money... if anything they should be extremely grateful!
-
When I first got my pup he would bite our feet and ankles too, and we did exactly what you're doing - turned around, crossed our arms and completely ignored him. He stopped it quite quickly since he hates being ignored!
-
Hahaha that is amazing.

I'm pretty lucky because I'm still living with my parents and my dad no longer works, so he's able to be home with my cav for most of the day. On most weekends though he'll be fine being left alone for 3-4 hours, as long as he's been for his walk and has toys. I've actually never left him longer than that because I start to freak out about whether he's okay or not haha!
-
Sometimes I'll let him lick my face once or twice but I'll pull away after that. He rarely face licks though, he prefers my hands because he can smell food on them I think haha!

So I just got back from holidays to find my parcel sitting on my doorstep. It still says on the tracking website that it's in New York! I have absolutely no idea when it arrived haha. -
I loved the bulldog! I went to one of the previews and when Bruiser first came on he got distracted and ran in another direction to sniff something haha. Annie the musical also had two cute dogs rotating for Sandy, I remember one got "fired" cos he got stage fright, poor thing!
