I will see what I can do over the weekend in getting some video of my pocket rocket . Interesting TerraNik. I changed something I did before I took her into the ring as an experiment and she came out with Scoota batteries .
-
Great idea Ptolomy - here are two of my favourite rounds or parts of rounds of Ness's. One was her heelwork at the Adelaide Royal last year: The other was from the first trial for this year:
-
Matthew Condon does Chiropractic and Accupuncture. I take my two to him and he is really good with the dogs. http://www.chiropet.com.au/

I was going to say my youngster is from a breeder in WA who runs a boarding kennel and they accept C3 minimum.
-
Awwww shutup Caffy and Ptolomy .
-
Ok about to murder Ptolomy although I did just get an email from Sue guru after watching my 2x2 weaving video with - Looks really good!!! great toy dog isn't she.... . All in the training er NOT, think it was a case of got lucky with the breeding .
-
go the midgets. Actually she is less midgety then her sister.
-
Kenzie thinks after watching her sister in the ring she could have given it a go but midget dogs aren't within breed standard and she is only on limit register so I can't show her as a neuter anyway, and she isn't a neuter yet anyway .
-
Weimlover about going to show training with a non-show dog. I took Kenzie along to one lot .
-
SD - so do we start a Sue countdown .
-
You won't need a SACA number on the Sue form. They don't ask for anything other than your name and address - so you will be safe there and thanks for removing my email addy.
-
Dunno why can't you go. If you entered in the trial that night then your SACA membership should have gone through anyway. ETA. Can you edit your post to remove my email address please.
-
If you email me I can send you the forms will post my email address here and then remove it.

Hmm well post marked by tomorrow and if you rang them I am sure it wouldn't be a problem. If you would like more details PM me. I am in touch with the organisers and I don't think they are restricting auditing spots anyway and can pass phone numbers on to you. If you are in any way keen I can highly recommend her and you will certainly learn plenty of useful training information. Yep Para Districts is at Salisbury. I am entered with my older BC Ness in the second to top class - UD.
-
Sorry not entering that one as the Sue Hogben Obedience and Agility seminars are on that weekend. Highly recommend them to you if your interested in obedience and agility though and at $10 for an auditor spot or $40 for the 4 sessions they are really good value. If you need more information its up on the Dogs SA website. Forms and payment is due by tomorrow though (April 6). ETA. If your not doing anything on the 18th there is an Obedience trial at Para Districts in the morning and it might be worth coming along just so you can see what happens, if you haven't already attended a trial before prior to the one where you are entered.

Congrats Ptolomy and Caffy and Zoe . Go the tollers. No brags to report here from our agility trial today think the old girl has just about had enough and is ready to hang up her running shoes .

Who Wants To Order From Clean Run?
ness replied to laffi's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
My stuff has arrived - thanks Laffi for arranging it. I can't wait to get home and try out my small i-squeaks . -
Canine Behavioral School would probably get my recommendation for what you are after then. I have trained a few clubs and they would be one of the better pet focused clubs around. They actually have classes geared at teaching life skills rather than walking around in circles having your dogs heel for the entire session - most of which pet dog people don't really need.
-
What sort of training are you after? Pet dog or trial obedience and what area are you located?
-
Dova I should loan you Kenzie she would love to go herding again.
-
I didn't do stays which is why you couldn't find her .
-
My girls breeder said she tends to enter them in an instinct test when she knows they will easily pass a HT or even PT. From my very limited experience some judges seem to require a lot more in instinct test level then others. I was on the receiving end in an instinct test where the judge was actually requiring a greater level of skill despite the fact my girl has instinct just lacking a bit of confidence (she was only a baby though) so she failed. 4 judges standing outside the ring would have passed her.

Yes doing your homework certainly helps but I am over the negatively that gets thrown at you for having done your homework. Personal rant as I am struggling with people watching my youngster and dismissing everything positive she is doing because she is a border collie and supposedly they are all born like she is when I have put the hard work in to ensure that she responds like she does.
-
I don't believe its entirely a breed issue. Individual dogs within a particular breed can be more or less driven the dogs of the same or even a different breed. It really gets to me when people say oh you have a BC they find everything easy and are born trained. Well excuse me for having put in the hours to make sure my foundations are more than adequate for what I am doing. Any way rant over just because you have a BC or a Malinois or a working breed doesn't necessarily mean they are born drive, focused, attentive, out-going and that the owner might not have had to put just as much work as somebody from a perceived less naturally driven breed. Gets to me when not only do other class members say it but its then backed up by comments from the instructors.

Interesting point you raised PAX - Kenzie has been high but I still seem to manage using a toy so I have persisted with that. Makes me want my poles back now so I can practice - oh well should get them again next week and there is no hurry .
