  1. FYI, there's some good info in the first post here about fear periods etc: http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/117592-puppy-development-calender/
  2. If she's only 3 months old I wouldn't be pushing a walk on her if she doesn't want one - particularly when it sounds like she's experiencing a fear period... At that age you can probably just get away with playing with her a bit to tire her out. Next winter she'll probably have outgrown the fear period and it won't be an issue.
  3. OMG, that escalated quickly!! I'm so sorry koolietas...
  4. Nah, typical uni party behaviour I'm afraid... I must have wiped the cleaning part from my memory - I'm sure it wasn't fun! I do distinctly remember being very unimpressed at the time though! My nickname used to be shirty with good reason!
  5. just want to point out for microwave dunces that clingfoil in this instance means plastic wrap - don't put foil or other metals in the microwave!!!!!! And to whoever mentioned not putting whole eggs in the microwave - I had some charming friends at uni that decided to take a full dozen eggs out of my fridge at a party and 'race' them in my microwave... ie the last egg not exploded was the winner! That meant at least 11 if not 12 eggs completely destroyed and coated all over the inside of my microwave
  6. I know, just when you think dogs couldn't get any grosser... It was way better than the time he leaked anal fluid on my down doona though...
  7. Nix dropped his anal fluid on the bathroom floor on the weekend while I was giving a vigorous pat. Even he looked surprised, then he licked it up... Then I sprayed with antibacterial bathroom cleaner and sprayed air deodoriser - and it still smelled in there for about 3 days!!
  8. I used to be so proud that Nixon didn't have the notorious lab reek when he was younger, but he certainly smells now... maybe it's just an age thing. I don't think regular swimming helps...
  9. If the vet suggests an anti fungal shampoo, i can recommend paw mediderm. You only have to leave it on for 5 mins, whereas the other one usually suggested you're meant to leave on for 10mins! I'm sure you can imagine how much fun that is...

Thank you, I found them just after I posted in this :) No worries - I felt bad that you kept getting re-directed :) Hope you'll share some pics of your pup once you have her!
  11. I don't think you need a script for bravecto here?

I think this is the thread you were looking for Laura: http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/188608-the-great-dane-thread-part-2/page__st__22590
  13. Nix can still be a little mouthy, but he has very good bite inhibition and a soft mouth in general. He is also very responsive to 'gentle'.
  14. I thought my lab might be rough with kids, but when he met my 3 year old nephew he was like a lamb... They were at the same head height. There was no face licking, he just followed him around :) I think pre-schooler age would manage well and be quite adaptable. But I'm also of the opinion that getting knocked over occasionally during rough play isn't really a big deal either.
  15. Is it just the sugarfree stuff that isn't on the market? I get the haribo gummy bears in coles and woolies all the time...
  16. thanks Maddy - that's a relief to know! I use the coles no added salt peanut butter, but was just starting to wonder if that means it's full of sweetener instead! Will still check when I get home.
  17. Awww, Ebony is such a beautiful girl! I'm so sorry you're going through this - must be so stressful!
  18. Very cool! Love seeing happy, healthy working dogs
  19. Yeah. My excess is 200 with an 80 payout. Last night cost me $300, today $130, so not sure it's worth it. I so love my Ernie. definitely worth it! Glad it cost less than expected though. maybe you could get a credit card just to have in case of dog emergencies? Hopefully you'll never need it!
  20. I really regretted saying Nixon was in a sleeping well phase last night, when he wanted to pee at 1am... I was sleeping so well too! But he kept clicking his little toenails on the floor outside my door until I woke up, and did run fairly quickly to the door, so I think it was legit. Pretty sure he then got sidetracked though I usually let him out, then go to the toilet myself, and if he's being good he's back inside by the time I'm done. If I have to call him it's a good sign he's stuffing around. Ratbag.
  21. Fingers crossed for you that your normal vet will a) be less expensive! b) be more willing to help you out with some flexible payment options...
