  1. What kind of dog is he? My lab pup hated eukanuba. Sometimes they just don't like it! At a year old, maybe his growth has slowed and he just isn't as hungry? Stick to what he'll actually eat I reckon. We switched to royal canin and now we have no problems with his appetite :)
  2. Maybe you could hang a tarp or something on the fence so they can't see each other?
  3. That's awful Lhok When are you going to get a break?!! Hope Treble is doing ok at the moment...
  4. I think the problem is we haven't really had any storms until now! we had one on sunday night which I would stay was the first proper storm we've had since Nixon has been around. He seemed to cope ok - he was lying down and looked calm, but I would say he was mildly stressed. He was panting quite a lot (though it was very humid), and was a bit restless. The one last night was threatening for several hours - lots of lightening and a bit of thunder, but it didn't really hit til after we got home luckily. I think he was more stressed by the one last night, but hard to tell given he apparently spent 2 hours racing around the yard barking before it hit, so he was already worked up when we got home He eventually settled, but I can imagine how freaked out he must have been without us there. Unfortunately our house isn't really arranged in a good way to allow access to part of the house along with the yard - it would be all or nothing, and I'm not sure I'd trust him inside unsupervised. He'd probably be fine, but I'm not willing to risk our furniture on a hunch :) i gave him rescue remedy when he was a pup but don't think it really helped to be honest. Hope your pups are ok Steph.
  5. I was just in Big W and they had the good clam shells reduced to $15 if anyone needs one. We're thinking of getting another as a sandpit. We had to go out for dinner last night, and there was a storm coming in... apparently Nixon was going nuts the whole time Our next door neighbour had been out too, but when she got home another neighbour told her he'd been barking, and she went and took him over to her place, which was so lovely. Then she gave me a call to let me know. We're so lucky to have some great neighbours! But I'm really stressed today thinking about barking and desexing... I know my husband thinks desexing will fix everything. I honestly agree that his increased barking is probably due to testosterone, but I think last night he was genuinely stressed out by the storm. Feeling crap about the whole thing
  6. Sounds like yours have the same early rising bug that I have to deal with Steph! Rosie has certainly made a mess of your catcher! She's clearly telling you you need a mower with a plastic catcher - duh! PS her ears are gorgeous!! :) Apart from the barking Nixon hasn't really had any issues, and all the dog park dogs already know him so their attitudes are ok already. There's a really nice small group where we go - very lucky. I am super paranoid about barking though - I don't want him to be a nuisance, and he almost never barked at all up to a week ago! hopefully it's a very shortlived phase. at the moment I'm hoping for desxing in April next year, but at this rate I'll be lucky to make it to February (his birthday...)
  7. You could try something like this? http://www.nightcomforter.com.au/ We were going to get one, then Nixon started to settle better on his own. re the crate, that's unusual for them to pee on bedding, unless he absolutely just can't hold it any longer? He will still need to be taken out every couple of hours during the night while he's so small. How often are you taking him out at night at the moment? ETA there's another brand called a snuggle puppy too, but the night comforter seems similar, and is australian, which is handy.
  8. I agree with the others, that a decent quality food is a good investment. On top of that though, there are plenty of other things that could be causing problems. Make sure you mention it to your vet, and if you can take a fresh faecal sample in with you it might save them some time. My pup had coccidia when we first got him, then giardia a few weeks later, both of which meant lots of runny poos... even after he'd been treated, things were soft for weeks, until I started feeding him yoghurt, and the occasional extra probiotic - it made an amazing difference and firmed things up beautifully. Pups need an extra hand to recover from these things some times, and some good bacteria in his tummy will help his recover better from whatever is bothering him.
  9. So many lovely pics lately! I'd been hoping we'd see some more Griffin ones - they're all gorgeous, and the hammock one is hilarious!! And Nova looks more stunning by the minute! And Hank is looking so grown up! He's in beautiful shape, and has such a sweet face. Re coat, Nixon also went through the horrible coat phase a couple of months ago. I'm now thinking he probably would have got over it anyway, but using the livamol Lisa suggested has been great, and his coat is beautiful again now. That's pretty funny Treble didn't like the yoghurt - he is a fusspot! Glad he's eating better generally though. Nixon had been such an angel recently, but in the last week he's started barking at stuff He's barking even when we're home, which has me nervous about what he's up to when we're not home... I hate to admit it, but I think it's probably hormones. Another fear period did cross my mind, but he's being more being bossy than scared. If he keeps it up I'm going to have a battle on my hands for him to keep his nuts for a few more months... He's 9 months old on saturday.
  10. OMG he is so gorgeous! About time we had some more tiny baby puppies in here :) His ears are gorgeous, and I can just imagine them flopping around!
  11. Yoghurt would be a good thing to try - it tastes yummy and it's good for them! Any natural yoghurt would be fine, and the probiotics will be a big help if his tummy is still feeling a bit uncertain... Treble's food dramas really seem to be quite extreme! I'm not sure an elimination diet will help you much if he's just straight out being fussy, rather than having allergies to different foods. Maybe he will be the kind of dog you'll just always have to have 3 or 4 different types of food on hand, and rotate day to day to keep him interested :)
  12. I had 3 of those toys on rotation when Nixon was small! Two of them lasted pretty well, but we're down to our last one now.
  13. That's so exciting!! Congratulations!
  14. when we were buying puppy shampoo, most of them say not to use it until pups are over 12 weeks. The lady in the shop said that it is because their skin is too sensitive when they're younger, and they shouldn't need washing anyway. It might be worth just getting some baby wipes to clean up any poo that gets stood in, in the meantime :)
  15. Wow - his dad is spectacular! That ruff is beautiful... And Nova definitely does look very much like him! He is a gorgeous boy :)
  16. Happy Birthday Nova! His coat is looking fantastic in that last pic Lisa - has it fully come in now?
  17. Sounds like you'll be stocking up on yoghurt then! Funny puppy :)
  18. Cedro sounds gorgeous Gillybob! I think we need some pics... :) Of them both!
  19. Thanks Lisa, his coat is definitely lovely at the moment :) I was just stoked he was actually looking at me when I took a pic for once! He loves the wubba - when he manages to make it squeak he starts whimpering with joy (I assume) - it's so pathetic!! One of his friends at the dog park has been bringing a kong bounzer ball lately, and it's really cool! He loves it, so I think he might get one for christmas... if I don't cave before then. I also stopped past petstock yesterday and weighed him - 28.2kgs. Hopefully he won't get too much bigger!
  20. So glad to hear he's eating again! I can imagine how stressed you've been. Hopefully his wound settles down now too.
  21. Got a nice pic of Nixon with his new monkey Wubba on the weekend :)
  22. Never for me either, and I have a lab :) He does spend a lot of time sniffing the bathroom drain though. We actually keep the toilet brush in the separate toilet and the door is always shut, so he doesn't really have opportunity. Maybe you could find a spot in a cupboard or something? Under the kitchen sink?
  23. Maybe he's just feeling too tired and sore to be bothered chewing? You could try soaking his dry food and turning it into mush? I hope he feels better soon - sounds like it was quite a big surgery
