  1. Hahaha I giggled at the ruler comment - so true!
  2. I love Carli Davidson, I follow her on instagram
  3. She looks like she was in heaven cleaning out that peanut butter jar!! Lucky baby!
  4. Cairn Terriers are great little dogs. We had several growing up and they were fantastic
  5. He was fairly socialised, but in my opinion could have been MORE socialised. We have 4 other dogs which are very well trained/behaved as I love working with them but the boxer was my hubbies first dog so I left it up to him to train....lesson learned!! I am on the Gold Coast, any recommendations would be welcomed Jane Harper is in Qld, have a look HERE she has a very good reputation. Haha I'm glad someone understands! Thanks, I'll check her out too Ah yep, the hubby, say no more LOL
  6. I generally try to keep him away from other dogs (ie: avoiding dog parks) but I walk him every day and try to let him briefly meet other dogs. In these instances he is ok, it's a prologed sniff that leads to the lashing out. As mentioned, if I am taking him somewhere like the dog beach, I have his halti on so I have control over his head so the second he growls I can re-direct him. I'll second Ams advice. I would walk him every day, but stick to quieter times/routes. It is neither necessary nor beneficial to "try to let him briefly meet other dogs" at this point. It may be doing more harm than good. If a "prolonged sniff leads to lashing out" and he growls at other dogs at the beach, he is showing clear signs of being uncomfortable in those situations. I think a behaviourist ASAP is your best option. Ok, thank you :)

  8. Oh and no he hasn't bitten any dogs. I was going to get a muzzle that's designed for short nosed breeds but he pulled it straight off, I tried a couple to no avail

  10. Hi guys, I'm hoping someone will be able to help. I have an almost 4 year old desexed male boxer who lives with 4 other smaller dogs. We got him desexed late, when he was about 2. About a year ago we had our first incident. Usually when he'd see other boxers he would play and "box" with them but on this occasion he decided he wanted to try and bite it's face off. This other boxer was not showing any kind of dominance or aggression and I can't think of any other elements that caused him to do this. From then on he has hated other boxers and for some reasons staffys. We try to socialise him and get him to meet other dogs but he is progressively getting worse. He's fine once he's met the dog for eg: he met my friends great dane for the first time on the weekend and at first they sniffed then he tried to bite her (he was currently wearing a halti but usually it's just a check chain unless we're going to super dog populated areas as the halti gives me better control) but then after walking a few metres he wanted to run and play with her??? Any suggestions on how I can help him get back to being the confident, happy boy he once was?
  11. Im seriously crying laughing! I love Griffons, they have so much character in their faces!
  12. These photos are killing me! So stinkin cute!!!
  13. Hahahaha omg I just lost it over this!!!
  14. My friends had their Pyrenees Mountain Dog "de-barked" as their neighbours would complain NON STOP about his barking to the point that the council were going to destroy the dog on the next occassion. As it is illegal in QLD they drove across the border to a lovely NSW vet who did the procedure for about $450 I think and the dog was fine, didn't seem to be in any discomfort at all and was happier from then on as he wasn't getting told off for barking. Funny thing was, the jerk neighbours KEPT COMPLAINING even though there was no noise!! Some people hey!
  15. Thanks I'll check out that fb page! Awww R.I.P Mowgli ????????
  16. Hi all, I heard there might be some Danes meeting at the spit tomorrow (Sunday 2nd) is this happening FYI please delete
  17. GAH! I love amstaffs AND greyhounds! I have my friends rotti pup (she's about 9 months now) for 2 weeks while they're off snowboarding in Japan so I might bring her down as she's calmer than my boxer and then maybe i'll look less creepy. Any Dane owners that are going to this meet up please let me know!
  18. Omg how awful I hope the poor little munchkin pulls through. You've got to the vet quickly so hopefully it's just one of those "gets worse before it gets better" things....sending aaaaaalllll the positive vibes your way!
  19. One of our friends at the dog park mentioned there was a date meet up down the Spit this Sunday morning (2nd Feb) from about 8am! So it might be an opportunity to meet some owners and get lots of cuddles ^_^ Eta: forgot to put the date in Oh really??? I might have to venture down there - might be slightly creepy haha
  20. I'm not sure how to add this to the Dane thread? I'd love to stalk ppl lol. Is anyone on the Gold Coast with a dane/s? I saw a couple of people at the pet expo last year & totally embarrassed myself by running over and (albeit a little creepily) asking if I can pat their dane lol.
  21. Oh my goodness what a babe! Is this a boy or a girl?
  22. Personally when I talk to people about breeds I always tell them to work out first whether they can live happily with the worst things about the breed(lots of fur, grooming, extra training for breed traits, etc), if you can't be happy with the worst things about a breed it's not even worth looking at the best things about the breed :) That's a great way of looking at it! Thanks
  23. My house and yard is littered with toys as I buy new ones or get them from work but he has not killed a toy yet. Ikea is an awesome source for toys and pillow pets are perfect! Swimming??? By that you mean only going in as long as the feet can still touch the bottom and expressing panicked looks when they can't?? Exhibit A Hahaha omg his face!!! What a sook!
