  1. Today was such a wonderfully funny day. Horrible Herbert celebrated his birthday. I made the bog-standard mince birthday cake. And dropped the completed frosted plate on the floor. The Birthday Boy was not deterred. http://s1311.photobucket.com/user/Genni_Greene/media/3363ef72-90b9-49aa-b09c-673bfafedec7_zps4ed09380.jpg.html?sort=3&o=10 http://s1311.photobucket.com/user/Genni_Greene/media/6235ba1b-ea37-4166-9509-e319aad2695d_zpscbba0650.jpg.html?sort=3&o=7 http://s1311.photobucket.com/user/Genni_Greene/media/1be50453-bcd7-45b4-8714-97799b68490f_zps59cf981b.jpg.html?sort=3&o=8 He is the most over the top, delightfully funny clown but oh so smart puppy. ( After all his Grandfather did win Crufts in 2010). Bear with me as I try to improve the photos. Thank you for being everything I wanted in a Vizsla after I lost my beloved Heart Dog, Gabor. But you work me so hard. Happy Birthday, Herbert. Momma loves you so very much.
  2. The Vets were offering a free consultation to visitors. If we had been on the same page, I might have driven the distance to make use of their offer. Luckily I knew of vascetomies being done so did not bother.
  3. Yep, I knew. But I just thought it a blanket dismissal. Might be wrong reaction.
  4. I would suggest you make contact with Frank at Itacor Kennels. www.itacor.com.au Or try his FB site. :)
  5. You can use this MOST valuable part of this site https://www.dogzonline.com.au/event-diary/ All the States list their events. It states what groups ( of breeds) are going to be judged. This is only my 2 cents, try to avoid talking to strangers who have a dog on lead as they are about to go into the ring ( to be judged). Many are concentrating on other matters. Dress for the weather and not for fashion. Can be very hot over Summer. Dont take a dog with you. I hope you enjoy finding out about showing. Your breeder should be an aid as well. I'll look forward to updates too. :D
  6. At the I Love Dogs Show last Sunday, I asked one of the Vets about vasectomy. The reply was no Vets do not do this in Australia. This was not for desexing at a young age either. I ended the conversation.
  7. Seems incongruous though that a dog wtih protein allergies would also be obese. I know of a Vizsla with them. They were wafer thin. Their owner had a constant battle to keep him in condition.
  8. Quickest one I have used is this: Rub the dog’s sticky fur with one or two teaspoons of butter. Keep rubbing until the sap has dissolved. Butter is also edible and safe for your dog to lick, and it's effective as a solvent on wet or dry fur. Scrub the area with dog shampoo and rinse with warm water. Comb slowly through the treated dog hair. Repeat the entire procedure until the sap is removed completely. What I like is it's dog-gone safe :) from some online site that I forgot to name on my files.....
  9. Well the dog has a health problem if it is overweight. Should that vegetarian diet be more carbo than protein, then there are issues there I would say. Would the neighbour consider a Vet visit for a check up or not bother?
  10. hmmm, usually the message is the topic is over 365 days old
  11. My thoughts exactly Yep agree 100% Me three! Me four. Horrible Herbert is one year old an Thursday. He is adamant he is an ominvore :)
  12. Please take courage in the fact you loved your Lucy and set her free from more pain. Sending you LOVE. Be free Lucy No more pain.
  13. Crates serve a two-fold purpose I find. All the Vizslas were trained to use crates. Having a crate covers them for times of illness, post surgery recovery and a time out. My current Horror who turns one year on Thursday loves his crate. He takes himself to the crate when he wants. He goes to the crate without fail when I offer a special word. It means plenty of space for me then. I can do the reluctant house work rather than trip over puppy body. LOL. We also had a solar electric fence. For our purposes which meant not having to go to the expenses of new fencing, we found it fine. Only this last puppy has pushed the boundaries with it. It will differ with every dog. And, and, AND photos when you are ready please. Sounds exciting for you. :)
  14. I was speaking to their reps at the I Love Dogs Show on the weekend. Bowhouse Online is their go to site for info etc.... Appears that the amount to be feed is quite a lot less than other brands. :)
  15. How gorgeous! What fab collars she is wearing. Very stylish.
  16. I recall near falling off my chair when a friends' Guide dog showed me his off switch. Midas had had his harness taken off. That equated time to play! Time to voom & hoon around. After that I would take both of them to the park for outings a few times a month. The other occasion was visting the home of a Police Dog handler. This big boof shepherd was in a wading pool making fluffies & barking in delight. :)
  17. ... and me... T. Is it our breeds then? Do we need a change?? ha!
