  1. Well, yeah. Yeah, it's like that. Sighs too. tdierikx is having a sigh too. :D
  2. Hope this progress is ongoing, DDD. Good to get encouraging news. :D
  3. LOL. When you do poop patrol with more than one dog, it becomes very serious. The neater the deposit, the happier the human. At least that's how I am. With dogs that have food issues, then it's even better to see their improvement.
  4. This is such great news, trinabean. You have dedicated so much to making Bruno well! Happiness sure is solid poops. Sod Murphy's Law. Paws crossed this is the winner for the boy. HUGS to you both
  5. I thought of CrazyCresties. Her dogs are a delight going by the photos :)
  6. Same for us with RC. Did not work well for us at all, but many swear by it. We had issues with BH ( of the BIG poop kind).
  7. Happy Birthday, you handsome, beautiful boy
  8. Dogs, photos, Maddy! All beautiful and touching. You fulfilled your role in the most noble of ways, Maddy.
  9. 35-45 minutes is a long time! In the trial ring you'd be lucky to be there for 5 minutes for most rings. For most dogs even 15 minutes of work is a long time. I personally don't see any benefit in classes where dogs are worked continuously for the entire time (usually paddock bashing in a lot of cases) - I might work my dog over a long period of time, but for shorter burst and in between I expect her to relax and switch off. When to work and when to switch off is a valuable skill for dogs to learn, IMO. This needs a LIKE. Considering age and attention span, 35-45 minutes is so long for puppies.
  10. Try not too worry as everyone has said. My Horror is still kissing judges and stewards. Now that's embarrassing. I showed my friend's puppy at a Speciality Show. It was her 2nd time in the ring. She decided it was too hot ( which it was). Lay on her back and wanted tummy tickles. I have presented the collar of one dog to the the judge. Dog had taken itself back to the crate. All laughed away. :)
  11. It can be a protocol, not just limited to Canada, that Honour Guards may be on duty at such Memorials without live ammunition. If you had a chance you might notice that the weapon had no magazine loaded. Impossible to fire The US Honor Guards of The Tomb of The Unknown Soldier carry M14s. They are never loaded. The reasons are for operational safety which aim to prevent the accidental shooting of a comrade if there was a mishandling of a firearm.
  12. Speaking for myself, I found I underestimated (totally) that the puppy was different. Sounds so elementary. But I was thinking so much how X dog did this & Y dog did that. Puppy does it differently. Real eye opener to grasp this for me too. Good Luck with your girl. I know we will get there eventually. :)
  13. exactly why I am going to follow here. Looking forward to your reviews. :)
  14. I am yet to be convinced this is all you. Where I am coming from is getting a puppy myself after 15 years of adult dogs. Bluntly, it's been an exhausting culture shock. We even named him Horrible Herbert. Not that he has a bad bone in his body. He is simply a full on active AND darn intelligent dog. But he is also immature. Your position is similar, methinks. Being in a situation that matches little that you have ever known before. That's alright. You are on a learning curve. you are working out what to do. A slow, steady pace is needed & you are finding the best way. Good for you
  15. Not heard of them. But looking at their site, I am impressed with their committment to support Australian farmers. Going to follow the thread with interest. :)
  16. I had a 'thing' look at me and say 'but he's only off the lead for a minute and he's just a little dog.' Said mutt was trying to nip the heels of all the people nearby & charging them. He was frankly a disturbance. He cleared the park in 5 seconds flat. His 'thing' sat down & proceeded to use her mobile whilst her mutt ran amuck. BAH
  17. imo, he qualifies as a cool dude! Thanks for the update.
  18. He was a reservist in one of the best Regiments in Canada. He was guarding the tomb of The Unknown Solider. His rifle had NO ammunition in it. May His Soul have Eternal Rest.
  19. Couple of people in the USA/Canada use this. Apart from issues of getting the garment on (some dogs), they have been pleased. Need to be careful of size and need to check when the wearer is male. (In case of a poor fit, it might get wet when he toilets).
  20. Why be sorry?????? More of a chance to see ADORABLE and HANDSOME! Happy Birthday, Toby!!!!! You are gorgeous
  21. oh, Stressmagnet! He's a lucky boy to have you. It's early in your relationship and he's a youngster adjusting to life. I think you are going really well. Another great point is the mere fact you are making an effort to train him as well. I sincerely think you are not messing up. Any type of training needs to be 'tweaked'. HUGS to you & dont over fret this.
  22. That's a great suggestion. I had the Kongs already and got Horrible Herbert his own one. Not sure why but he has never been interested in them. Yet he tends to be a food freak. Must be a solution somewhere.
