  1. That is absolutely awesome and a brilliant way to get across to the general public that show dogs aren't some sort of exotic creature that sits on a cushion when not at shows, but are family members just like other dogs! EFS When I was waiting for Horrible Herbert, his breeder sent photos weekly of what was going on with the dogs. It was also a great intro to her attitude and approach. The day we went to collect Herbert, we actually spent the 1st hour playing with the adult dogs. That hour I will never forget as it was simply fun.
  2. My old boy who turns 15 years later in the month has just been re-introduced to his crate as a way to let him rest and not wander the wander of the senile. As you described, the crate is in a place he loved when in full possession of his facilities. I let him be crated all the time I was home but with the door open.He had some 'munchies', a treasured blanket & soft toys. I kinda feel some light went on inside his brain. He got himself out of the crate over the first couple of days without being stressed. Now, he goes to the crate & makes himself comfortable. I spoke to my darling Vet. We both agreed using Adaptil diffused might help him. I think it has. Since he is old, I rarely collar him & had no need under these circumstances. I hope you have success too. :D
  3. Then that is great you are caring enough to do research. Leave the poll open. Let us know what type of dog you are thinking about and we can share what we know :D
  4. With all due respect, you have omitted some issues that are really serious for a dog. May I ask what is the purpose of this research? :)
  5. Is that Esky as a baby? OhMyDog! She is beautiful
  6. Is there eve a change in the diet of the donor poop provider?
  7. Agreed. I told Mim of a friend in the USA whose little puppy is in the process of having a similar diagnosis confirmed. Been able to help her with info. :)
  8. Welcome to the forum, Milobee :) Have you checked him over to see nothing is wrong? Did anything happen on an earlier occasion when he was out for a walk? Did anything scare him?
  9. Wow..... Great news for humans and animals.
  10. eyes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! eyes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wee munckins. Bless them
  11. Aw, that is such a credit to you AND to Annie's beautiful temperament. A lot of TLC went into getting Annie to be able to do that. :D How wonderful for the kids too. I grew up with dogs. I know what wonderful joy they are so long as their humans play the game too. Thank you for this post, mita. Indeed, something to be very proud about with Annie.
  12. If it is an inverted vulva and the dog isn't desexed then definitely encourage them to let her have a heat or two, if they are planning to desex her. Thank you. I have already emailed her with the info. She's new to dogs in general. But her diligence in trying to find out as much as possible is wonderful. Family is lucky they are covered already by Pet Insurance and can manage costs. Their breeder did offer to take the puppy back. They declined as they are already bonded. Your gal is gorgeous, mim. Wishing you both the best here. :)
  13. This is rather timely. Friend in the USA has a female Vizsla being checked for issues. Appears mention has been made of your girl's diagnosis, mim. Shall follow this thread. Paws crossed for quick recovery and more comfort down the track. :D
  14. LOL.... that site is in hand written notes of Rottis in my files. I am forever searching and find info on various breeds. Love doing it. Geeze, I am a real tragic. To add to your comment, frankly the Rottweilers spoken about on here with accompanying photos, are simply wonderful dogs. They just 'do it' for me.
  15. Welcome and what a lovely surprise for your husband. From that despription Astro may have been a Pembroke corgi. Here's a hint that might work for you. Show your husband this youtube clip The Corgi in that clip won Best of Breed in Crufts 2013. Ask him if that is the same as Astro.... because you think the dog is just gorgeous..... follow his reactions Good Luck
  16. LIKE :) I thought you looked beautiful. We are always our own worst critic, which is a bit sad LIKE x 2
  17. Thank you Starkehre - I'm also very impressed by Seven! I don't think I've ever seen a Rottweiler herding, you are very talented and dedicated and giving Seven a wonderful and interesting life! Congratulations on being recognised for all your hard work to get to this stage. Same here Dogmad, if someone asked me what kind of dogs make good herders this is not a breed I would even think of including! Starkehre you have every right to be very proud! I know Starkehre replied too and shared her great knowledge. I thought you might be interested in this site about the history of the Rottweiler. http://www.donnerbergrottweilers.com/rottweiler-history.html My Grandmother grew up in Germany. She often spoke of these great dogs. When I visited the Black Forest, I also went to where she lived as a kid, about 60 km from the actual town of Rottweil. Saw many old photos of these glorious dogs, attached to carts pulling goods, or protecting liverstock. Truly dogs their owners loved with pride.
  18. or, Nova is saying but my ® side is my better profile side. Smoochies deserved though
