  1. There's Small Paws - they are in Hobart but I'm sure I've seen people fostering that live closer to Lonnie than Hobart. Also German Shepherd Rescue Tas - I'm not sure what their situation is re: fosters, they are relatively new I think, only around in the last 1-2 years. They seem to be doing an ok job so far.
  2. I used to go and sit in the kitchen behind a baby gate, removing myself worked better than moving her.
  3. I thought it was going to be these ones, but they're in QLD  http://www.henryhottie.com/
  4. I'd almost forgotten the puppy landshark phase! I have vivid memories of sitting on my kitchen floor crying with a glass of wine, safe behind a baby gate
  5. German Shedder Shepherd - the hair. Oh my god the hair.
  6. Work on some trick training as well. We got a few tricks nailed during the post spay rest period!
  7. You've summed up my feelings as well.
  8. It's horrible for everyone involved. But it does concern me that you cant even leave your dogs in your own property. The dogs didn't get out. There's a gap where my gate meets my fence line that a small child could possibly stick their hand in, in light of this I'm going to have to look at options to block this access. My dog can't get out but apparently now I have to account for people getting in. Do I think she would bite? No, but is it worth the chance?
  9. Facebook is already full of comments saying the dog needs to be put down and the owners need to be responsible for ensuring there are no gaps that children can reach through if their dog is that vicious.
  10. She does love balls but we only use the chuck-it balls or JW Megalast balls, no tennis balls. I did realise I've been tugging with her Tuffy toys a bit, maybe the material is rubbing them down a bit? Any recommendations for teeth friendly tugs?
  11. I've noticed Luna's canines seem to have worn off a bit. I'm not sure if this is just normal wear or if it's something I need to be concerned about and go to the vet. I was hoping some more experienced owners can tell me if I'm overreacting or not. She's 18 months. Thank you!
  12. Yeah it's a lot easier to pick up the warning signs in hindsight! I don't she sounds like a problem
  13. Part of me would love to take Luna to a groomer...the other part of me can't hand over the responsibility. I'd never owned a German Shepherd before her, it's been a massive learning curve. I'm still baffled as to where all the hair is coming from
  14. Our morning routine is very different on a weekend as opposed to during the week. OH starts work around 4, so she is used to getting a wee at about 3:30, then back to bed until I get up at 6:30. So on a weekend when OH doesn't get up for work I will get a soft woof somewhere between 3:30 and 5:30, then back to bed for as long as possible
  15. Yeah I think this is probably the case. There's plenty of GSD's around but still being imported :)
  16. Once, I was holding the dog by the collar while a guest came through the gate, they closed the gate, I let go of the dog... But the guest turned around and went back out because they'd forgotten something. Little terror headed up towards the park, but we had her headed off before she was even in front of the next door neighbours.
  17. Yep, she is an Afghan. :D Ahh, I thought she might be but I've only ever seen one in the flesh so wasn't 100%. She's so beautiful :)
  18. She's just gorgeous, exactly what breed is she?
  19. Both great but I also prefer number 2. She looks like she is more joyful :)
  20. South Esk River at Longford. Was a bit gusty!
  21. I've heard about its effects... It's not a peaceful way to go at all
  22. If you don't feel confident with your breeder, I'd forget the money and run. We were communicating with a breeder who refused to let us come out and meet the dogs without putting a deposit down, and we couldn't visit until the pups were ready to go home. The breeder that we actually bought from encouraged us to come and meet them, we met both parents and a full sister from a previous litter, along with the whole litter of pups at 4-5 weeks old. We were asked questions about our house, where the pup would sleep, what our work schedules were. My dog is perfect for us and I love her unconditionally, I have a good relationship with her breeder, keep in touch and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. We paid almost 3 times as much in purchase price between the 2 breeders, but it was more than worth it. Good luck with your search!
  23. Thanks everyone, I'm having a lot of fun exploring the area with her
  24. Pictured from our walk this morning along the North Esk River Trail Next 2 exact same spot, just with the focus point changed
  25. I'm loving reading everyones adventures with boxes! Luna was stellar this morning, we walked in an area that we don't normally and she only reacted to a cyclist who whizzed past with his dog - she almost held herself together but didn't quite make it  we had an offlead dog sprint towards us and I managed to hold it together and call out for him to call his dog please - his dog recalled beautifully and my lovely girl stayed under threshold. I remembered to call out a thank you as well! Very happy with both of us this morning :)
