  1. The property we chose to invest in was a better option than savings/ term deposits. Some people consider property to be a better and safer investment than other options- so why is one a luxury and the other is not.
  2. What snopaws said. We have an investment property- that has cost us alot of money, but we hope it will help us to secure our future. We allowed pets too and even made sure we replaced fencing etc so that someone could safely contain a dog. Not all landlords are money grubbing wealthy people who don't care, same as not all renters trash properties. ETA- its not a matter of choosing to go and spend more income than what rent goes in- its automatic. Our rental costs us $400/ month above the rent PLUS any repairs and maintenance. I'd hardly say that our rental currently generates income for us.
  3. Nope- i didn't believe it at all to start with, complete skeptic and it still worked.
  4. I have used 3 bowen therapists and have had it on me, my horses and dog. 1 bowen therapist was useless but the other 2 have been super. Find someone qualified and good!!
  5. We have a pet friendly investment property. To be honest, i'd rather have 5 dogs live there than the current tenant who recently complained about the floorboards creaking at night time..!!
  6. I agree corvus- by professionals, i meant to encompass trainers as well.
  7. Professionals need to be VERY careful when making comments like that because although it may be meant in one way, it can be taken entirely differently by members of the general public.
  8. We have classes not too far from there- about a 15 minute drive i would think- we're not a club as such though. KCC is nearby so club wise there is Rotti club there on Wed nights i think. Sandhurst is a lovely area (i drive through every day on my way to see my horse) but not many dog services in the immediate area
  9. PF- in WA there are actual dog beaches- only 2 or 3 i believe and dogs are not allowed on any other beach.
  10. I haven't heard of them before. We have classes in that area though so feel free to have a look see at our new website.
  11. Gorgeous dogs terranik! I really like training the spitz breeds- they're pretty darn smart!
  12. I think its a great idea. Not sure of any quality B+T services in Sydney though. Do your research as there are some dodgy ones that you wouldn't want to use.
  13. Yes he is!!! Please post puppy photos! I hope everything goes really smoothly. I think Gilbert looks more like Cracker than his Mum Crumble and while i have no idea what he would have been like in the ring, we are super pleased with his overall look and his physical conformation. I don't think he will turn into an evil monster either BM Not in this house!
  14. Really weisnjac!!!?? Which half? Mum or Dad? I think it is very dangerous for me to see JRT puppies- i would find it hard not to tuck one under my jumper!!
  15. I must say Melz- he has done that for quite a few people. Although sometimes we still get people warning us about what an evil monster he will turn into. Why? Because he is a JRT
  16. Funny you should say that Emm- we were just talking about how small he is. :D He weighs almost 6kg so with our other dogs from 20-40kg, he seems so little! Yes he is still super confident- he decided the other day it would be a good idea to body slam Cosmo (our top bitch) from the arm of the couch- he quite literally suspends himself in the air before landing. Needless to say Cosmo let him know that that was not acceptable behaviour! He also manages to roll Dexter (who is nearly 40kg) onto his back and 'pin'him- hilarious really! His training is going well- he has a great recall and loves shaping. He is probably already middle of the pack as far as his reliability goes- he is very very intelligent.
  17. My first reaction is to agree with everyone else. My second thought though- is why then do they only do this with some behaviours? Why not every behaviour we teach and heavily reinforce? Or do they but we don't take as much notice with other things..? Do dogs that free shape offer more behaviours than those who have been taught/ told and reinforced? Why would that be different if both different dogs are reinforced in the same way? I think the answer lies somewhere with the development of independent thought, reward history AND liking particular behaviours OR liking our response to particular behaviours. I know i smile more when Gilbert offers me a spin or flip to heel than when he offers a drop..
  18. With all of the posts about finding ethical breeders lately, i thought now would be a good time to post a Gilbert update and again say how happy we have been with our wonderful registered breeder. Gilbert is now 7 months old and is absolutely everything we could have possibly wanted. I didn't think it would be possible to get everything we wanted- right down to colour and markings but yet, here we are! Our breeder continues to keep in contact and has re assured us a few times when we have had a few minor concerns- even though these concerns were months after we took him home. We wouldn't hesitate to get another puppy from her and will now always have at least one JRT in the family! We would also like to thank weisnjac from DOL- without her friendly and helpful pm, we would never have found the breeder that we did. To all of those looking for a puppy who have to wait- believe me, when you find the right breeder, it really is worth the wait.
  19. We offer dog walking and training but not quite that far out- i would contact Nekhbet from this forum and/ or Kelpie i and ask them as they are both out that way and may be able to help. Yes its reasonable to ask for a police check. Checking to see if references are real- ask to see a couple. I know our testimonials for instance all sound so dramatically different, (with regard to grammar, words used etc) it would be very hard to believe they had all been written by the same person. Google can be your friend too.
  20. I think its also important to consider Razor's history with a previous dog- what was the outcome of those fights? Does Razor have history of winning fights? Genuine question. The most serious dog aggression i have ever seen was with dogs who had many opportunities to practice the behaviour, actually engaging in fights. Do be careful.
  21. Testimonials should be up in another week or so, i just finished compiling them. There are some fabulous pictures- including one of our clients dogs lying down with her best friend- a pig!! Inka- foster dogs can attend different workshops, why not ask the group you are fostering her for if she can come along?
