  1. Did you contact Andrea at Companions For Life (Maremma Rescuer) to see if she has room?
  2. If your vet is giving repeated courses of steroid you need a new vet. The body odour is yeast, a secondary reaction to oils. I'd skip straight to the dermatologist as well. Also, grab yourself a little set of clippers like this and always keep the hair short and this includes trimming their whole ear to help keep the air circulating. You'll get used to the look BTW I don't feed chicken to allergic dogs. It seems to aggravate things. edit; I meant the ear hair. Not the whole body.
  3. Never ever stop a steroid abruptly. If she's not doing well, you really need a vet check now. Her immune system is suppressed (which is what the meds do).

    Renal Problems

I'm no vet, but have had several senior dogs go down very fast from acute kidney disease. Versus chronic (which is slower and more responsive to diet), it just snowballs and affects their entire system very quickly. It's not known to cause pain, so as T says, she may have had more than one thing going on. I'm so sorry for your loss Rest in Peace little one
  5. You have to go outside with him and wait, even in the rain! Take treats and praise him to the skies when he does his toilet. I think you've thrown your hands in the air and given up way too soon. 6 month olds aren't 100% reliable ever.
  6. I'm just leaving this here, yes it's an RSPCA policy change. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-10-04/rspca-removes-kangaroo-meat-pet-food-animal-welfare-concerns/101499412
  7. Such a lovely pay-it-forward Yes, all mine are littlies and I have a spare 4wd mini wheelchair myself from my dear departed Mim. Thanks LG.
  8. Not 'new' news but so good to have it out there in an article! Senior dog adopters are a wonderful group of people.
  9. Welcome and I'm so sorry for your loss. Not sure if it's relevant to you but Poms and Papillon do shed but can be kept nice with regular attention. Maltese and Bichon don't but the trade-off is regular grooming or they will tangle/matt, so I guess I mean more expense or learning to D.I.Y. All different temperament but my experience is majority adult rescues so you'll get help here about suitable natures. Sorry I can't be of help with finding breeders. Did you check out the Dol list of registered breeders?. Papers might not be a deal breaker but it's nice to be able to create a good relationship and learn the lines your doggy is related to https://www.dogzonline.com.au/breeds/dog-breeders.asp
  10. While that is a horrible horrible horrible story. Simply awful. But why is she so dramatic about his 'at risk of being neutered'? I'd be chomping at the bit to adopt him rather than worry about desexing. He may be a stunning example of the breed so I get that his lines might be valuable to keep. It's just confusing to me.
  11. Vet time it's probably a tummy bug. Easily fixed with a prescription. Don't leave it too long though, it's easy to get dehydrated which makes them feel worse. The chicken&rice thing can help an upset tummy but not clear up bugs (as you have discovered). You can take a poo sample for testing as well just in case. Worms aren't always visible but vets often give you a Drontal Allwormer for when things have settled. And keep him away from the park while unwell.
  12. @Rebanne true, I can't force people to stay in contact but it's nice isn't it. I love to see how they're going.
  13. An extra question. Can ankc papers be held back if this breeder doesn't get what they want?
  14. Anne is right about contracts. They are more like an agreement than an enforceable legal document. While we're here there's a thread where the poster needs reassurance that they signed a contract with some rather strong demands.
  15. I haven't heard of them pesh what are they?
  16. if you don't want to sign a desexing contract then don't. It's hardly news or something to get your angry pants on about.
  17. Was the contract drawn up by a lawyer? Most aren't. They are written, unenforceable agreements between two parties. Is the puppy microchipped in your name yet? That would be my only concern, not that she can come and take the pup anyway. As a buyer, in most states there's a time limit for the seller to get it done. No idea about ANKC papers being held back? She should have done the home check before parting with the puppy if it was that concerning. Odd. Not sure about Qld but property laws often cover dogs .... if she sold you a car she couldn't expect to come visit it.
  18. This is a 4yr old thread so the original poster may not be on Dol anymore. :) You could begin your own thread.
  19. 9yrs is time for a top-to-toe health check. You need to rule out pain, discomfort or illness. Like from bad teeth, UTI, ear infection, the beginning of arthritis - all sorts of things that dogs can't communicate to us except behaviourally. I need my sleep so have doggy stairs up to my bed.
  20. I think if you join the ANKC as an Associate Member you can participate in the events? https://www.dogsnsw.org.au/events/herding/herding-faq/
  21. Zain if you're overseas ? the brands might not be the same. Have you had it confirmed? If you suspect coccidia in all your dogs it's best to take a poo sample and one of the dogs to the vet for a simple test or two (if one dog has it they all need to be treated). There's a few things that cause gastrointestinal upsets so finding out which bug it is will get you the right advice. If you take an internet guess you might just be wasting your money and prolonging the problem. Food sounds fine and while you can have a dog it doesn't agree with, to have all of them passing runny poo it's probably not diet in my humble opinion.
