I try to house train dogs I try to Dogs inside the home or outside. They are inside when someone is at home. Depending on the weather conditions, the dogs may stay inside or outside when I'm not home. Are you prepared to give extra care for a dog with problems If I feel I can do it. I took a Cocker Spaniel (Nugget) despite the fact people mentioned the possiblity of Dementia etc. I took him privately at first because I could not find a rescue group to assist but ended up rehoming him through CPR He's now living a very happy life.

Nugget, my ex foster, was fretting heaps when he went to his new home. His 'mum' thought it might have been cos he became a little attached to me. Anyway, she bought some rescue remedy and she said it worked wonders After giving it to him, he wasn't fretting as much and even started snuggling to her. In what forms does it come? dropper (liquid), spray, cream and pastilles. I have bought a small dropper bottle to keep for rescue dogs. Where do you get it from? You will find it at your local health stores but you can also buy it online if you do online shopping How much would you give? The recommended dose is about 4 drops for an adult. Nugget's 'mum' gave him 2 drops and put a couple of drops in his water and she said it worked great She doesn't really use it now cos Nugget is now settled.

My 2 eat a mixture. Chicken wings, necks, carcasses etc are raw. I tend to cook their chicken. I can give them little pieces as treats and it's a lot less messier when you have Cockers like me (their ears being a problem). They get a mixture of raw and semi cooked veges. I dont see the problem of cooking food for the dogs as long as they are healthy and have a good balance of different foods.

I have a pair of Petpro Boss clippers. They've been working well for me. I use it for my Cockers. Hesapandabear has a pair and last time I heard she was happy with them. They're light and I can take them and use them out in the bush if I need to (can be used in the car)....not that I need to

Orson and Oi are 13kg. They get fed twice a day. They get 1/2 cup of dry food with some salmon/sardines/tuna/half egg in teh morning....depends on what I have....and then they have 1/2 cup of dry food at night too. They get treats such as biscuits, chicken wings, carrots etc.....

Some people get the dog's dew claws removed but not actually 'declawing'.

Dont give cooked bones to your dogs though. I take the chook bum, wishbone and the chunk of fat off the carcass before I give it to my dogs. I sometimes even just give them the top part of the carcass and throw the bottom bit (backbone) away.....but then I work at a wholesale chicken business

You should NOT meet Bailey 1/2 way in play. If he gets too rough, you need to make him stop because otherwise he doesn't know WHEN to stop. Get your daughter to tie her hair up. I'm assuming it's tied in a ponytail but what I mean is get her to tie it up so it's shorter than the actual length or in a bun type..... ETA: Highlighting the bits I'm referring to...

Bailey seems to be seeing your daughter as one of him (dog). Definitely supervision is needed when Bailey is with your daughter. Make sure she's not on the ground at all when she's with him. Lack of interaction with your daughter can be part of the problem because he doesn't know who's boss (that is, everyone in the household is higher in the pack than him) How often does Bailey have interaction with your daughter or any member of the family? Everytime Bailey comes for a cuddle (whether when you're watching TV, lying on the ground relaxing, breakfast/dinner time), make sure he sits before he is rewarded. Have you taken him to further training since Puppy school? It sounds like Bailey needs more training. Take Bailey and your daughter to dog obedience school and get your daughter to be the one to train him. Bailey is still a puppy and he has a lot more to learn. I had some trouble with Orson when I first got him cos I was mothering him too much. He has improved a lot since then but I had to be strict with him. A 5 month old Cocker isnt' very big at all.......

It depends on each dog. Orson loves playing whereas Oi will play but takes a bit of encouragement. Oi's fave game is taking Orson's ball then keep squeaking it. Orson will lose interest in the ball and Oi will follow Orson and squeak it in her mouth till he wants it again and chases her ;) it's a vicious cycle. Babies are more interested in playing by themselves and chewing things at their age. Some dogs play better independently. Have you had your boy since he was a pup or just acquired him recently????

Nope, Haven't lost my temper when training. I usually end up laughing at them cos they seem to have a look that says "This is silly mummy, why do I need to do this?"

Oi gets tears in her eyes sometimes. Since she's a blue roan and her face is mostly black, i can't tell if there's stains. Orson gets sleep (little brown bit of gunk) in his eyes which I clear off every day. It just falls off anyway. If it's a concern for you, get another vet's opinion
