  1. Saw Ann Neville. Not completely convince as yet. She is not very good at listening! I said we were there for dietary advice and not once did she ask me what he is eating at the moment. I had to ask her what she would suggest towards end of consult. Will have to see how we go!
  2. Spoke to Bupa and they have quoted me roughly $240 per month for top cover (including dental) for all cats and accidental for dogs as to their age. The difference is amazing - the Kitten who is 10mths old is only $21 but the oldest Cat who is 7 would be around $70. Vets said they see the most Medibank and Bow Wow - sometimes Rspca but not as much as you would expect. So still ringing around.
  3. How awful!! Glad to hear they are doing so well! When they make them tough - they make them tough!
  4. I accidentally used the Sleepy Time once years ago When it very first appeared. My parents brought for me not realizing it was different to the normal one, after one of the dogs was unwell and had to keep her quiet. She has an allergic reaction to it and had to rush her to vet. It was definitely Sleepy Time as vet and I read the label trying to figure it out what happened and it had about 4 more ingredients than the normal Rescue remedy. Maybe its changed since then. I haven't looked at it since that incident. Never had a problem with the normal Rescue Remedy.
  5. This is I have been told by a few vets. I haven't actually researched it properly yet myself as Holistic practices say one thing and medical say another and it's very confusing. What I have found through the small amount I have read is that there are different opinions!
  6. Apparently, the probitics defeat what the antibotics are trying to do so now the thinking is to give the probitics after the course of antibotics is finished.
  7. Bach Flower Essences work well. Rescue Remedy is the main one that people use. Get the original. There are a few different ones and there is a sleepytime one but it has alot of stuff in it. I know a few people who give their terriers, mainly Jack Russells, a drop or two when they are going abit nuts!!! The amount is different for each dog. Start with a couple of drops and see how you go. You can get it from vets, chemists, or health food/natural medicine places.
  8. The Ivory Coats Reduced Fat Adult food looks OK. Will check it out.
  9. Thanks Mackiemad. It definitely says it's Grainfree! That's abit naughty Will look into the other brands. He use to have kibble when he was younger and from memory, he wouldn't eat it. But can always try again now. He just needs something to fill in the gap as he has a huge appetite and protein and vegetables are not filling him up.
  10. My own knowledge, as well as vets. Have had dogs for 30 years. All anti-cancer diets say no grains which is why it was suggested I try something like Black Hawk as its grain free but didn't agree with him and I noticed that is was making the other dog itchy as well so have canned it.
  11. Well, I don't know if it is my imagination but one of my dogs seems to itch like crazy when I give her the Black Hawk chicken. Unfortunately Tex couldn't handle it too well as he is still recovering from surgery and his tummy is still sensitive so after a week of a small amount of Black Hawk, he was looking abit miserable. Have put him back on a small amount of his WD in with his diet and changed his rice to Basmati as its suppose to be healthier. So was using the the rest of Black Hawk for Sam and she started to itch like crazy. Could be timing as it rained and that does cause her allergies to play up but stopped it and after a few days her itching seems to have calmed down.
  12. I just saw the Bupa now does Pet Insurance as well (And Dental) and we are with them for the humans. I might investigate and see what coverage I can get as an existing member. But Otherwise Bow Wow looks good and doesn't seem to have an age limit. It just says it doesn't cover any existing illnesses which none of my cats have anyway. They are all healthy.
  13. Harnesses are not a good idea for some breeds as it just encourages them to pull and if they are already pulling when walking it with make the problem worse. I got one for my Staffie years ago and ended up with a bigger problem that I started with and got in a trainer who explained it all! Am staffs, with the right guidance are all to eager to please and will do anything you ask, so I agree that your best bet is to invest in training with him. It will provide you with more control than anything else. Plus the trainer will be able to help you choose what will work best for both of you. They are a wonderful breed and give back as much as they get from their owners. Get the bond right and you have a loyal friend for life.
  14. Yes the fun bit is keeping them quiet!!!
  15. Heard of these guys years ago. Never met one but they have been around.
  16. Keep hearing such different opinions about the whole thing. Have been looking around and it's really hard to decide. The main thing I will need is Dental for the cats. That's the main reason for it. Cause dental is expensive. Bow Wow seems to come up alot so will look at them again. I even looked at RSPCA as they seem to give back a high rate. But no one here has mentioned them.
  17. What's the best pet insurance that people have found? I am thinking about getting the cats insurance but I need one that covers dental and I can't seem to find one. The dogs are too old. One cat will be 8 soon and I am not if they still have a age limit to register or not but I need to get on to it. Have heard a lot of stories from people about how hard it is to actually get money back too.
  18. Interested in the Vit K. Will look into that too.
  19. Yes am on the GP! I tried him on quinoa and He threw up so that won't work. But chick peas sounds good. Will look into them. Thanks!
  20. As there others have said plenty of quieter beaches down Mornington way. You don't need to go as far as Rye. Can start around Mt Eliza. Plus Somers has a gorgeous beach.
  21. I call it old man bladder! My boy has needed to go more frequently as he has gotten older. Sometimes he needs to go once. Sometimes more. They sleep with us and he will wake me to go out. Once you get into the routine, you literally do it with your eyes closed so going back to sleep isn't a problem.
  22. It's a bit of everything. A cancerous lump was removed from his lung and Specialist can't see it anywhere else but doesn't want to assume it isn't. So have started working on anti-cancer diet and supplements to support him and hopefully prevent anymore cancer showing up. Cooked vegetables as he is still recovering and his stomach is still abit sensitive. Can't seem to handle raw at moment. Cooked chicken, some pork. Am looking for a filler as you are not suppose to use rice or other grains and his appetite is too big for just protein and veggies. His diet was pretty similar before but it had WD dry or rice in it. I got the Black Hawk dry but it has a few things in it like sweet potatoe that you are not suppose to eat.
  23. Has or does anyone use Black Hawk Grain Free food. Dry not wet Am trialing it as part of anti - cancer diet but it has sweet potato which is suppose to be a nono in this type of diet.
