  1. I also have a dog who is getting out of control with her barking - we have just moved house about a month ago and she loves it here! She is often just out sitting in the middle of the lawn "talking" to herself, the birds, whatever! LOL BUT it is getting annoying and we don't want to get the neighbours offside. She also barks to come in...then barks to go out.....I have tried to ignore her so she hasn't got me "trained" to respond each time she barks - but ignoring her doesn't work - she just keeps going. I'm thinking of trying an anti-bark collar but I'm not sure how effective they would be on a really fluffy dog? She is a Samoyed. Any ideas to help would be appreciated.
  2. I'm planning to come this Sunday with my 2.
  3. Peibe Where do you go to get your meat/chicken so cheap?
  4. My 2 do the same thing - they just miss us when we are out and they need to tell us all about their day when we get home. If my dogs were quiet and calm when I came home something would be wrong!
  5. I gotta say, my reaction to the 100% recall prerequisite to attend the next meet made me think I shouldn't go. My pups are pups, they train hard and they do well - BUT I can't say that when they are off playing with 10 other pups on the other side of the field and I call them, that they would drop the game and come running! Can anyone really say their dog has 100% recall? I've never met one yet..... If this is going to turn into a bitch fight and people are going to make rules for attending, then I won't be coming any more. I take my dogs to places where they can relax and have fun, they get a chance to run free and play like the puppies they are and I know my dogs have absolutely NO agression towards any other dog or human. I know and trust them 100%. I feel that if someone has a dog that is not well socialised and could turn on another dog or human, then an off lead park is not the place for them to be until they get over it. Ok, I've had my say...off to cuddle my pups now....
  6. Hey Flame's Daddy! Great to see you again too.... If you guys happenes to take any pics with my 2 fluffers in them I'd love a copy ;-) Always looking for new pics for our website! Please email to [email protected] Thanks!
  7. BUGGER! Looks like showers tomorrow - bring your raincoats!!
  8. WOO HOO! See you all tomorrow! I'll also try to get there a bit early... Re the Xmas party - we have a few months to confirm details for this. I just put together those dates as a starting point for eveyone - nothing is set in cement and we can always make changes to suit. I was also wondering if maybe when the weather warms up we could have a get together at a dog beach? There is a fantastic park and beach at Bayview - maybe we could have our Xmas party there?? Throw in some ideas guys!
  9. I train with food and it really works! The thing I don't get though is that all through our training we use food - then when we go into competition they don't allow it! Why can't we use food in CD? So many more dogs would enter and pass if we could.....and why don't they train us without food in pre-trial classes??
  10. How about getting a cat? Just my 2 cents worth for an appropriate apartment pet... BTW - where are you? Maybe you can get in touch with a local rescue group.
  11. http://www.samsmiles.org/catsdogs.html Here's a good article on introducing cats and dogs. I have 2 young dogs and 5 cats here - plus I foster kittens! I have had no problems with them - my cats put the dogs in their place as necessary and my dogs are well trained. Good luck!

  13. I'm so glad others though the regular meets were a good idea! My dogs and I just LOVE to get out and about as much as possible and to run free with other doggies is a bonus! Not to mention the fact that I get to meet all you cool doggy lovers :-) How about I put up some dates now for the next few months - that way everyone can put these in their diary and plan around them: Sat 3 June 11am - Rouse Hill Sun 2 July 11am - Rouse Hill Sat 5 Aug 11am - Rouse Hill Sun 3 Sept 11am - Rouse Hill Sat 7 Oct 11am - Rouse Hill Sun 5 Nov 11am - Rouse Hill Sat 2 Dec 11am - Rouse Hill - Christmas Party!!! If anyone wants to make any other suggestions (e.g. alternate location/time/themes etc.) please jump in!
  14. It's in the diary! See you all there :-) Heidi, Ticco and Kirri
  15. My little girl ALWAYS goes to a carpet or rug if she is going to have an accident inside! Why can't they go on the hard floors which are easy to clean?????
  16. I recently bought some jumps and weavers which look just like these ones! Made from PVC and constructed the same way. BUT, I am finding that I can't keep them together very well - they only take a gentle knock and the pipes come out of the joints or the weavers fall over. I'm thinking I might glue the joints, but this will mean I can't take them down and pack up for storage or transport. Has anyone any ideas on how I can either glue them or make them more stable?
  17. My mum's dog sometimes gets sick on long trips - and she gives it a Junket Tablet before the trip - supposed to help firm up the stomach contents and keeps it down! Seems to work.
  18. OMG! I have a male Samoyed who would leave most Aussie guys to shame! He burps like a champion! He has no problem letting one rip whenever he feels the urge and they are LOUD! I'm sure the neighbours think it's me!! LOL It's pretty funny and cracks me up every time, but it can be a bit embarassing at times too - like in the middle of a serious obedience training session and everyone turns to look at you! My female Sammy has never done such an unladylike thing - true to her Princess in training status :-) I had never heard a dog burp until I got my boy - and I haven't heard any other since. It's comforting to know we are not alone.....
  19. Good to hear that Clyde is OK. A few months ago my 1yo Samoyed boy ate a whole block of dark chocolate! I rushed him to the vet and they made him puke for an hour solid! Mmmmm......choc sauce! Even after having his stomach emptied he was "high" - when I got him home he was running around all crazy and playing strange games he had never played before! Lesson learned - don't leave chocolate within reach of dogs! ...and you know the worst part? That block of choc ended costing me $105 and when I got home, and I needed chocalte the most - there was none for me to eat!!
  20. Yes you can freeze the chicken necks. I also freeze any other meat and bones I feed my dogs. On a hot day it's good to give them the bones straight from the freezer - just like an ice cream treat and it will take longer to attract the flys and ants! Another point on freezing pet meat and meat products - I ALWAYS, withour fail, freeze any meat or bones etc. before I feed it to my animals. I NEVER return from the pet shop or butcher and feed my animal what I have just bought. I was warned a number of years ago by a very experienced breeder that some pet mince and other meat products run a risk of harbouring a certain bacteria that can make your animals very sick. BUT, if you freeze them first it kills the bugs. This breeder had experinced first hand what a mistake it was to feed before freezing - she had to clean up after 3 mums and litters with explosive emmisions both ends! EEEEWWWWWW! Such a simple precaution to take... Heidi
