Oh, it would be great if you could report back on that Russ. I'm on Eagle Pack at the mo but want to switch back to Orijen. PS I don't want to play favourites or anything, but I think I love your signature best of all poocow. If I could have two more dogs I'd have a BC and a golden cocker for sure. But what's Top's OCD licking — well, I guess it's self-explanatory, but I've never heard of it before. Does he just lick everything in sight? ILTBY made it for me My heart breed is cockers and Top is a rescue BC from my time at a pound lol. He just licks himself all the time - mostly his paws and legs. He even gnaws on his left leg so much that its either got a blood stain or a saliva stain (light red in colour). He will lick his bed, the lounge, floor etc too. Its like a comfort thing to him, mostly happens at night and if he gets himself wet/dirty he has to lick himself clean (much like a cat).

Toppy will go onto Orijen once we run out of EP. The only thing I'm worried about is the protein content. Top has an OCD licking problem and I've been reading up on it - treatments include medication, more than 20mins exercise (he gets 1hr+ run daily) and switching to a low protein food. The thing is he isn't hypo or bouncing off the walls on EP so would the change to orijen really affect him that much. I'm going to try and book him into a vet behaviouralist but can't afford SABS $600 fee :D at the moment. The resident vet behaviouralist at my work is away at the moment too, dammit! Edit for spelling

Aggression Workshop **2 Places Available**
poocow replied to Akitaowner's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Well you saw Darcy display absolutely no prey drive at the TID workshop, he worked well for food though. At home and at agility now that he has his special agility toy "Mr Duck" he goes mental! He absolutely loves his duck. I'll have to think about the workshop, while I think it will be great I don't have the cash spare. It would be better putting it towards Steve seeing Toppy for his anxiety/leg biting issues -
Aggression Workshop **2 Places Available**

I've been tossing up for a while whether to come or not. Darcy isn't DA but he does get a bit growly when dogs intrude on his space. I think he thinks hes an alpha, but hes just too small... -
Darcy still loves his orijen I'll be ordering a 7kg bag in once the EP level drops a bit more. And the good news is that with the orijen hes cracked the 11kg mark!!!
-
Hmm that is odd - and shes only started this nightly throwing up since the food change? Or has there been another trigger - ie. nervous vomitting from bad experiences in the laundry? Is the vomit just regurgitated food or is it bile? Darcy is a big vomitter - but he never had a set time, usually 2-3 times per day. Turned out he had major stomach/digestion issues as a result of having parvo as a pup. Now on medication for life. But he doesn't vomit nearly as much!

Sydney Lure Coursing Fun Days

It was really hot that day though. If I had a soft crate I'd bring it to chuck Toppy in so he can't see the lure. At least I found one thing he likes and is good at -
Rise To The Challenge Or Not?
poocow replied to ruthless's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
OH gets that way with Toppy and I can't blame him. At agility I handle Darcy and he takes Top. Top has no attention span, and in the middle of a run through of a course will freak out and run away to find me or Darcy. He has flashes of brilliance when hes focused on doing the tunnel or whatever, then his head just asplodes and hes off Toppy really isn't very bright, we're not sure why as we don't have his whole history as we got him at 18mths. OH just finds it really frustrating. -

Ok no worries, I'll be there with the 2 nutters, we give Top more runs though, he just loves it! Hopefully will bring a friend so OH can take photos and she can help me with the dogs. -

Anxiety Wrap! For Anxious Dogs
poocow replied to 4 Paws's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
whats your thoughts poocow, are you considering one?Would love to hear from someone who's actually got one I am considering it, but I don't have any cash right now (isn't that always the case lol). I was actually going to go see Steve as Top has some other worrying behavioural issues such as chewing on his leg and licking his legs, feet, floor (well pretty much everything) compulsively. I just worried hes really stressed and I don't know why. I got him at 18mths from SDH and hes always been a really worried dog. -
Hope your pup feels better. I have used the BIII on my two dogs twice each now with no side effects. The nasal vax was mandatory at the kennel I used to work at and not one case of KC came through.

Anxiety Wrap! For Anxious Dogs
poocow replied to 4 Paws's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
My dad sent this through to me a while ago, he figured I might be able to use it for Top. Top is very fearful during storms, loud rain, wind etc. He also freaks out mid-way through an agility run from being away from Darcy/me when OH is running him. -
His lordship is still eating it here on Day 4 - left the EP until I chastised him and he went back and ate those.
-
Alix, so sorry for your loss. RIP Charlie
-
I hear ya - my Ragdoll is broken too they are meant to be a quite cat but NOOO I have the chatties Raggy in the world! Mine are just plain broken! Border Collies are meant to be smart but I got a dumb one. He ran full pelt into a park bench today...just because he could.... Darcy is still eating the orijen
-
Oh he is - you'd think I was trying to poison him the way he turns up his nose at food! He is not a typical cocker at all, very much broken! He gets raw meat as well as dry, so its not like I'm depriving the poor dog! Hes still digging at the bowl when he eats, but I'm afraid Orijen will not cure that
-
Very interested in these results. Top is due to be done next Monday. He would have to have a BIII as we do agility but I may ask my vet about titre testing. Darcy has been done for this year. Would him having parvo as a pup affect his results? Ie. Would he have immunity for life as hes already had the disease?

Either SABS or Steve @ K9 Force.

Ndtf Course Information Sessions

Is this for Melbourne only? Or will there be one in Sydney? -
My trial pack arrived today. I mixed a bit in with Darcy's EP Holistic Duck and what did the bugger do? Eat all the Orijen and leave a handful of EP in the bowl The fusspot approves The next test will be to see how his gut reacts to it. The meds he is on only stop him from vomitting, they don't change the back-end in any way. Hes been generally ok on EP Holisitic Duck, the odd sloppy one every week which can't be explained. Maybe Orijen will change that.
-
I have issues keeping weight on Darcy, during the bowl saga he lost a few kgs (he was only 10kg to start with). Toppy is such a gutz, I'll have to watch his weight if I switch food.
-
Thirlmere has a vet clinic - not sure how good it is. I know that the Sydney Uni Clinic at Cobbitty is ok as is the Macarthur Vet Group at Camden.
-
Would love to know if Mr Fusspot likes this poocow...I'm betting yes :D You'll have to post and let us all know, this thread is like a mini fan club It's really quite economical too when you look at the smaller amounts of it you need to feed. Yeah I'm going to order a trial pack soon and see if he likes it. He isn't on a dry food only diet, he gets raw meat and chicken necks too. I know Toppy will love it, he thinks everyday is the best day because he gets fed :D The EP has really made his coat shine though, everyones been commenting on it.

Darcy is Mr Fusspot - you only have to look at his bowl thread to know that...Top will eat anything and everything!!! He even licked a lemon the other day...
