Northern Suburbs Dog Training Club
poocow replied to Kavik's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I tried to join a few years ago with Darcy but every week I went (at the correct times mentioned on the website) they would never let me join and kept saying 'come next week' which we did and got the same response. I ended up moving away for 12mths and did obedience down near Campbelltown. I'm now doing agility with the boys at the Many club Might start obedience with them in the future, not sure though. -
I tried an e-collar out on Darcy, it was only ever on the vibrate setting. It did stop him barking, although one day when he had it on somehow the setting got turned up to full. My parents were monitoring him with the collar on and noticed him running around the yard in a frenzy, it was shocking him constantly. So yeah the e-collar just didn't work for us. I'm still at a loss at what to do about him barking. I've heard really good reports about the e-collar working though. I guess its just dependent on the dog and what behaviour you are trying to deter them from.

I think Top would be awesome at this! But the problem is he scared and barks at bikes...so I don't think it would be possible. Don't know if Darcy would make it, plus he hates bikes too.

I'm so sorry Run free of pain at the bride now RIP Spike

Oh SB, I'm so sorry that you didnt get the news you were hoping for. Have a chat to your vet tomorrow and see what the prognosis is.

Darcy had parvo as a pup and as a result of that had complications in his gut. Have to be really careful what I feed him, has to be natural, no colours, preservatives, flavours etc. I give him , ziwipeak treats, liver treats, diced cheese, chicken (cooked) or sausage (cooked). I tried cabanossi with him - all I got was a lovely present of vomit Might try the dried fruit and the yoghurt drops.
-
Yeah I kind of wish I was going to - I need help in harnessing Toppys 2 brain cells
-
I would love to get my dogs up to the standard where they could go to the agility nationals. Hopefully one day! We've only really been going for a bit over a month and Darcy is going pretty well.

I'm so sorry Trish What a horrible situation to be in. RIP Rowdy, Wednesday and chickies

I'll await Fleur eagerly. Mr Doog is a cheeky bugger. And he barks at me when we're waiting for our turn. Demanding so-and-so! I'm tossing up whether to go to the obedience on the sunday. I so want another cocker
-
They certainly do - cocker overload!!! But I've got the naughtiest one

Alternative For E-bark Collar
poocow replied to Heidley's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Are these legal in NSW though? I'm at my wits end with Darcy. He barks to warn whatever is "out" there - especially since a few years ago the bratty grandkids next door threw rocks at him. -
Alternative For E-bark Collar
poocow replied to Heidley's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Darcy will bark at citro collar out. He can also get off a husher muzzle in seconds. I have to keep him inside if we go out because if he even opens his mouth the neighbours across the valley are on the phone complaining -
I'm looking for a set of weave poles that I can use to continue teaching my dogs at home. If anyone knows a good place I can get some that would be fantastic

Is there any other kind of footy :D Go swannies! Just a shame it clashes with lure coursing
-
I joined the group - its been on my to do list! My boys had their first lure coursing experience at the most recent event and they LOVED it! Hopefully I'll be able to make it another few times this year. I have a feeling it coincides with footy...doh!
-
Poocow where did you end up going? Whoops I only just saw this - Castle Hill (but I told you that on Sunday lol)
-
Yeah I recently started agility with my boys, and they both love it. Its so great when something finally clicks in their head and they understand what you're asking! Toppy adores doing tunnels where Darcy just loves to jump!

Oh Hannah I'm so sorry Big to you, you've been through so much lately.
