  1. Oh god, I only just saw this, and was like 'no it can't be fergy' - I'm so sorry for your loss Sammy. May he run free at the bridge.
  2. RIP Rex I'm so sorry for yours and your families loss
  3. Cassie I only just found this thread, so sorry to hear of your loss. May Oakley run free of pain under the bridge. RIP
  4. Oh no Springy! I am so sorry to hear this, you poor thing RIP sweet Max
  5. Wow, all of these are so great, I need to teach myself PS, I'm just too damn lazy
  6. I feed pet chicken mince, vegies and sometimes any left over pasta/rice if we are having that for dinner ourselves. They also get some dry biscuits (Eagle Pack Duck and Oatmeal). Sometimes they'll get sardines with their dry instead. I think it costs me about $1 a day per dog to feed them this. And they are happy and their coats look great - no extra fat on them at all. I have to go with an expensive dry as Darcy (cocker) has digestive issues and can't tolerate preservatives or additives. Hes done really well on Eagle Pack and quite honestly it hasn't worked out to be expensive at all. Its such a high quality that I dont need to feed as much. I used to feed supercoat to my fosters (+ mince etc), they did really well on it, only problem was the size of the poos!
  7. I think I'm going to have to invest in a furminator if they're really as good as they sound. I'm getting sick of my cocker and BC shedding everywhere. I should be ok with a medium yeah? Small would probably be too small?
  8. westielover - the pink tablet is clavulox peachie - the malaseb wash or a tea tree shampoo would be best. Hopefully his vet will have some answers now that he can get a proper look at his skin and hopefully get some scrapings done.

Oh no Trish, that is just awful. Poor little bub, and just when she was about to find her forever home Hugs to you and your family Run free little Lola
  10. I'm currently feeding my dogs EP Holistic Duck and Oatmeal. Darcy is 4yrs and Toppy is 3yrs. They've previously had EP Holistic Chicken Darcy has digestive issues which is why I switched to the Duck flavour. He's always been a fussy eater too, never really liking dry foods but he loves Eagle Pack dry. ETA - Darcy is the cocker and Toppy is the BC
  11. Great job with Spencer ;) Is he a soon to be ff :D
  12. Nope I've had Toppy clipped twice now and his coat grows back fine. I only have him done in summer as he really overheats - plus makes checking for ticks so much easier. The first time I had Top done it was shocking - done by a mobile groomer. Tops got no tail (just a round stump) and she clipped way too close and it got infected and started bleeding. The lovely shmoo did him this time and he looks fantastic Her boss also did Darcy in a traditional cocker cut exactly how I asked and he came out looking fantastic :D
  13. I feed both my boys on Eagle Pack Holistic Duck and Oatmeal. I used to feed Eukanuba but have found this to be better for my dogs. Darcy is a very fussy eater and he loves this dry food. Hes also got digestion problems stemming from having parvo previously and a thickened pylorus. The poos are small and compact and very little odour. I also give them raw meat and vegies.
  14. My dogs have never had a problem with their yearly vaccinations. They will continue to receive their C3/B3 vaccinations on a yearly basis. Having almost lost Darcy to parvo already (as a young pup) I'm not taking any chances with him. I don't know of any kennels around my area that will take any dogs below a C5 level. Kennels are now pushing for dogs to have either the bronchoshield or nobivac component along with the C3 or C4 rather than a purely injectable C5.
  15. Gorgeous pup Meetu!!! I wish you the best of luck with Simba - cocker puppies have you wrapped around their little finger in an instant! I too had to leave Darcy for some longer periods of time when he was a pup as I had uni classes to attend. I made sure he had plenty of toys to play with and he got lots of attention and training when I was home. Make sure you post heaps of pics in the cocker thread in the photos section :D
  16. What a handsome boy!!! Glad the tests came back ok. My 3yr old cocker boy is on Xantac as he throws up every 2 days or so - at least hes stopped on this medication.
  17. Shes a lovely looking girl Can I ask why if she was in foster care she wasn't desexed sooner?

What you've described is all just puppy behaviour. I went through similar things with my cocker at that age - in fact he even managed to dig through a wall. I persisted with training him - he learnt not to jump up - use deep growly voices and turn your back on him. The destroying behaviour is boredom/seperation anxiety - make sure you leave him with lots of toys to interact with and a meaty bone to chew. Alternatively try crate training him at night - I personally don't use it but a lot of DOLers swear by it. Cockers are people dogs and just love to be around you, very willing to please. With the toilet training to get this right make sure you take him outside and give a command and praise him everytime he goes to the toilet in the correct place. Key toileting times are just after waking up and after eating. Good luck with your pup, I really hope you don't have to rehome him - with proper training cockers are great little dogs - I'd be lost without my daily cocker cuddles.
  19. Yeah but I do it for the dogs not the owners. And they get a stern talking to. It honestly annoys me so much that people prattle on how good their "breed" is yet don't take care of them properly. Hopefully won't be as bad over summer as we ask owners to clip their dogs prior to coming in - so much easier on the dogs to not being carrying around a hot heavy coat.
  20. I get some disgustingly matted oodle dogs come into the kennels where I work. And the owners expect them to be in perfect condition when they come to pick them up - I dont get paid to groom but still spend hours doing it!
  21. Oh no, poor girls. At least they are pain free now. Run free together girls under the bridge RIP Peibe you did everything in your power for these girls and I'm sure they appreciate everything you did
  22. That poor dog I had an extremely badly matted BC at work today, am going to tell the owners to clip her asap when they pick her up. Honestly all it takes is 10mins of running a brush over them each night and voila no matting! Darcy my cocker will never have a fluffy typical cocker coat as he had parvo as a pup and it seemed to have affected his coat, some of it is long and fluffy and other bits are short, doesnt matter, I still love him to bits!!!
  23. Peibe that would scare me too! My cocker had parvo as a pup, not sure what tests my vet did after, I'm assuming his not a carrier though as none of my other dogs have ever got parvo. But geez its a scary thought that they can get it again
