  1. Poor Elfie and that poor child witnessing the horrific death of her beloved pet. The owner of the dog that did the killing certainly does not appear to be a responsible dog owner in any way shape or form. h
  2. missed this.. sorry. Glad the lad is home and healing. Glad you will be pursuing holistic treatment as well.. my Lucinda was treated by the same vets ( MCT grade 3 no clean margins) her prognosis was grim and i was advised to "take her home for a few days to say goodbye".. well with holistic assistance Lucinda lived a long and full life for another 5 years.... we had ups and downs but she remained queen of the maremma pack until the end.... H
  3. Easy answer for me...I have no family, only my dogs, take them or stay. easy for me too.. i really only have my dogs.. my brother would have been long evacuated as that is part of my plan. and he would cope very well in a care facility: regular meals arriving like clockwork, people to chat to . the only but in this is that he would be lost without his dogs.. H
  4. What a divine soul Buddy is.. you can see that special light in his eyes and that adorable soft loving expression... this brings floods of tears to my eyes. I am pleased that at least the salon will be held formally accountable for the shocking result of their neglect and that Buddys death will have brought about some changes.. I know the memories the two of you made together will be held closely in your heart.. Helen
  5. no cuye dog pic collection is complete without several of The Divine Miss Sophie.. the Sophie was a girl with her very own unique interpretation of what should be the norm in life: these were taken the day before she journeyed to The Bridge.
  6. OMG these pics of justice have finished me!!! the cuteness overload has brought on heart palpitations and breathlessness and an urge to smooch. H
  7. a candle will be lighting the dark tonight to honour Annie, to mark her crossing to The Bridge and her reunion with your dad.... Hugs and comfort to those who miss them both here on earth. blessings Helen
  8. have you tired tellington touch?? they have a wrap as well. I used one of my hyper/agressive girls for a demo and was totally gob smacked at the change in her... H
  9. i feel ill reading this. RIP sweet precious Buddy and gentle hugs to you. I hope you are makes note re any conversations times and dates. This is negligence and at the very least some kind of legal action will hopefully ensure that those pitiful excuses for groomers will never ever again be in a position to put their lunch break before the safety of their clients dog. It is a disgrace. H
  10. yep i do as well.. always ask if it is OK to meet and greet.. just cannotresist H
  11. another opting for a full thyroid blood panel to be carried out.. not just the T4. H ed spelling
  12. adding: Professor Rick Atwell, the ‘Tick Guru’ at QLD University is busy finding that things are not all that they seem, and of course that means it is more complicated than we thought! First there are more subspecies than were thought - some of them non-poisonous, so ticks in some areas do not make anyone sick, while others are very toxic. Second the toxicity of the ticks varies seasonally as well as by area. Third if a large number of the earlier stages of the tick attach, they can make the animal sick (approximately 30 nymphs = 1 adult!). Fourth the ticks do not inject extra poison into the animal if you leave their head behind, but it does irritate the skin and cause more infections and crater reaction. Fifth the ticks can wander around for some hours before attaching, especially on dogs and cats as they would really rather have a marsupial-blood meal. This means lots get groomed or shaken off. Sixth 50% of animals who have a tick attached and poisoning them have had an anti tick product applied to them within the prior two weeks (according to the owners at least). Perhaps the ticks do not move very far and so do not pick up enough of the product to kill them. Seventh if there is one tick attached, there may be up to 10 more attached - one in all in I guess. So if you find one, look for more. Eighth there is no longer really a ‘tick season’ - they take longer to hatch in cool weather and are not as active, but once there is 50% humidity, they can mature.

  17. The H Man and I are delighted to announce that this morning he has arisen and walked a few metres under his own steam.... the bark is returning . What The H man does not realise is that his recovery has put his bath that much closer.. a happy day today thanks to all for the good wishe and healing energy it has worked Helen and The H Man aka Hairy Harry Huge

  19. The Divine Miss Sophie in one of her less dignified poses:
  20. ok we are at 1 week.. again small improvement.. he wants to get up and can raie his front end for me to pop a towel under his hindquarters.. and he walked slowly a little further this morning.. sat and enjoyed his surroundings and indicated he wanted back in the shed.. ate some brekkie and is now napping. poor lad it is a struggle for him but i am thankful that he is making steps in the right direction even if small. H ed cos sometime i key rubbsih.
  21. more improvement this morning: he can rise with the help of a sling around his rear and then walk a few steps. he is eating and it appears during his enforced fast he has developed a taste for gourmet food..lovely to see him tuck into his chicken rice and veggies this morning ( after refusing all dog food) he also had a good snap at the cheeky roosters who wanted to share his brekky and even managed some barks ( very hoearse but barks ) woo hoo the light at the end of the tunnel appears to not be an oncoming train this time. later this week or when he is strong enough it will be bath time as he is now very odourous due to peeing and pooing whilst lying down.. my other dogs wrinkle their nose in disgust at me when i come back from the patients shed area... LOL H
  22. pleased to finally report that Hairy Harry Huge is improved today actually wanted to get up and with owel under him he was able to walk a few paces. he has had some sardines and has been watching over me cleaning out the shed.. i dont want him just confined to the pen all alone.. so things are looking up dianed, glad georgie is on the improve my vet also said that they have been inundated with ticks for the past 12 months and the numbers of patients they are getting is increasing. H
  23. Thanls Erny and everyone for you good thpoughts. HHH has made soem tiny improvements: ate about 1 tablespoon of food liberally sprinkled with parmesan... and stood assisted for about 30 secs this morning. could not get up at all .. he is reasonably hydrated, breathing is still laboured. Temp normal, weeing etc... second vet went over him again this morning.. he thinks that it is just taking HHH a long time to recover .. H
  24. Just brought him home again.. no improvement.. my vet is concerned . Administered more antitick venom meds.. we have all been over him several times for more ticks.. ( thats is myself and my friend, Tony and the three vet nurses.. will permoxin him again tomorrow morning. He was really happy to see me but his breathing is laboured * but his lungs are clear, he has had a long acting antibiotic to cover bases for lung infection, he had corisone for lung inflammation, still cannot use himd legs at all.. I am becoming more and more worried .. there should have been more improvement with his breathing by now.. H ed cos cant spell or key without my reading specs.
