  1. Is there enough room to bring a small gazebo? Someone mentioned to me there wasn't much room there????
  2. yep, schedule says they start at 6 pm. Who would want to stay longer after we can finally be set free at 5 pm to leave???????????????????????????????????????????????
  3. Several vets have explained to me that if you give calcium supplements to a bitch during pregnancy her body doesn't need to make it for itself, then during whelping and after when the calcium demands on the bitches body are huge her body has forgotten how to produce the needed calcium as required and so takes it from the blood stream and the calcium supply in the blood stream is depleted and that is what causes eclampsia. Natural sources of calcium in food is fine and necessary during pregnancy and after. Calcium given during whelping is also fine. Many of the "old time" or "old school" breeders still advocate giving calcium supplements during pregnancy as that was the thinking back then but that has now been proven to be bad advice.
  4. My other half made ours and its great! Nothing wrong with home made :D
  5. Depends what state you are in too. Cryogenes in Vic are brilliant!
  6. I hate being inside too Much nicer outside even if its 17 deg !!
  7. Congratulations on the expectant litter but please get your girl checked out internally. Usually if only slip matings are possible it could mean there is a problem with the bitch eg. stricture, septum, fibrous band etc. If this is the case you need to know what to expect and will need your vet on standby once she starts into labour. Hopefully its nothing like that and you will have beautiful puppies with no problems at all.
  8. Have you had your girl checked out internally? Maybe she has a stricture preventing a proper tie????????
  9. Try a different stud dog?? Maybe she is sick of him and wants a newer model :D
  10. I have been searching about in my head for a word that means "able to put things into perspective, recognise and manage one's emotions, let the rubbish bounce off, climb a steep learning curve cheerfully and formulate and follow a plan to succeed". I can't think of anything snappy to encapsulate that. How about "Resilience" and maybe even "mental fortitude" ???????
  11. What if Dog A gets BOB every single time it is shown but Dog B who can never beat Dog A for BOB but often gets RUBOB does just a few more shows throughout the year and ends up winning the BOB pointscore? How does that make it an honest BEST OF BREED Competition??? Its not called..."The Most Consistent Competition" OR "The Most Shows Attended Comp". although in reality thats what it is. Its a Best Of Breed Competition. Edited for replacing uppercase with lower case letters as I can see some of you have taken my comments the wrong way I know its not serious but many people think that it is
  12. My point is...Why call it a BEST OF BREED Competition if a dog who only ever gets RUBOB can win the competition simply by doing more shows than a consistent BOB winner but only ever getting RUBOB. That is not right.
  13. Hi RAJACADOO - According to my catalogue there were 2 baby puppy Basenjis entered both AFRIKENJI - Not sure which one it was sorry.
  14. I think if dog B did less shows but beat more competition that is the dog who should win. Just because some people can do alot more shows but mostly only beat dogs of their own breeding shouldn't mean that they are the better dog by the BOB PS Comp. I still dont like that RUBOB gets only 1 less point than the BOB winner. If there are 2 dogs and 1 gets only ever gets BOB but gets beaten by the other dog on the PS who gets mostly RUBOB but did alot more shows, then it is not fair that the 2nd dog wins the PS and can claim they have the BOB PS winner. That is not fair in my opinion.
  15. Buscopan is made from a plant. I know because I live on it :-) No side effects unless you are lactose intolerant as that is an active ingredient in it. It smooths out the spasms in the bowel. Its not for the stomach at all. I dont know if its safe for dogs or puppies but I would imagine that it should only be used if advised by the vet.
  16. From memory partial Group 4 results: Sorry in advance if I get any wrong. It was so horribly windy that it was ridiculous! BIG - Longhaired Dachie and RUIS RUIG - Afghan Baby In Group - Basenji Minor In Group - Mini smooth dachie Puppy and Junior - one of them was a Saluki??? Not sure of the other...maybe a Whippet? Intermediate - PBGV Aus Bred - As for BIG - Dachie Open - RUIG - Afghan
  17. I really dont think that this helps the sport remain healthy.
  18. Most of the big winners are actually damn good dogs and totally deserve their wins. If they had nothing to advertise they wouldn't. I always hope that the judges wherever they are from just judge the dogs as they see them on the day and dont worry about looking at ads etc until after they have judged and if they happened to put up a regular winner well they probably found a deserving dog!
  19. personally I like it when they are catalogued in order of arrival so if you want to be first in line get your entries in early. Might help secretaries to receive the entries earlier rather than all after date of closing too.
  20. I always choose for them and so far everyone has been happy and pups have been well matched to their families.
