  1. Its really for the learning experience and socialising that babiies are in the ring so I would show him as a baby to learn.
  2. Just explain to them that you want her to go to a pet home and not be bred from and so you need to get her spayed first before she is re-homed. Once she is spayed you wont have to worry about people trying to breed from her.
  3. I have done that without any problems in the past. Just give them back the deposit and explain the situation to them.
  4. I feel so sorry for this breeder. Imagine not knowing if your prescious baby was ok and doing well. I let my puppy people know before I agree to sell them one of my babies that I expect regular updates. At least to start with so I can see if there is any problems or advice that I can help the puppy to settle in with. After that if I at least hear from them even if just a photo or an email every now and then I am happy. If a prosepctive owner let me know that they did not intend to update me on anything they would NOT be getting one of my babies. Why can't you just email a photo to the breeder. It wont cost you anything except a couple of minutes of your time? Think how you would feel if you bred the pup?......
  5. Fresh as in not dry kibble and most canned food. When in a hurry ...Natures Gift from the supermarket is good as it has no additives or preservatives. Buy frresh meat and chicken necks etc. Bones and such might hurt too much as this stage. Try some chicken thigh fillets cut up into smaller pieces. Vegies, yoghurt, eggs, sardines in oil are all good and alternate.
  6. No more vaccinations and stop using flea treatments and or heartworm meds. Make sure there are no woollen blankets around the place, check your garden for toxic plants eg: wandering jew etc. Take the puppy off dry food, only feed fresh. Those are the things I would be doing right away. Poor puppy it looks so uncomfortable. Hope you get it sorted soon.
  7. Lovely photos and mum looks so proud of her babies
  8. Sorry to hear this Mersonmalinois. Hope the rest goes smoothly for you.
  9. If they are desexed young they tend to grow taller and leggier than if they were desexed after they have reached their full height. This is true. I have experience with it and so have many of my breeder friends.
  10. I would just completely take her off dry food and feed fresh food. I bet you the problem clears up then.
  11. Yes it probably is from the fat content of the tin food. My 11 year old girl has sparkling white teeth and so does her 8 year old son. Have never had to clean them and never any problems. Then I have the 5 year old brother and sister who have already had their teeth cleaned by the vets twice and need daily brushing to keep their mouths healthy, so I really do think and the dental specialist agrees with me that its the genetics of the saliva produced by the mouth that is the difference as they all eat exactly the same things. I also have a 15 year old and I need to clean his teeth for him as he can't chew bones anymore due to having some broken molars removed in the past. Next time your'e at the vet ask if you can have some Maxiguard Oral Cleansing Gel. It's only about $25 from memory. Would save on the conversion rates and postage from USA.
  12. Some dogs have great salivar that keeps their teeth clean and others need a little help. Half of my dogs always have clean teeth without doing anything and the other half need to have their teeth cleaned or they get tartar and plaque which causes problems. It depends on their genetics.
  13. The product looks like it may work. How much is it? I use a product I get from my vet called Maxiguard Oral Cleansing Gel. ' It has Zinc and Vit C as the ingredients and has no side effects. I just put one drop on my finger or on a finger brush and apply to each canine tooth twice a day and the mouth naturally spreads it around all the teeth. It works wonders in cojunction with raw feeding.
  14. I will only ever use a dental specialist for any tooth issues in my dogs. Have had some not so good experiences with normal vets doing teeth cleaning etc. David Clarke at Hallam is really good and I thoroughly recommend him.
  15. One of my old boys had a canine tooth removed recently and had stitches as well. The dental specialist we went to advised to feed chunky diced raw steak for a few days. Not minced steak as it will get stuck in the hole where the tooth was. Also he said that the chewing of the raw steak actually helps the mouth to heal faster. Not soft mushy foods and certainly no bones till the mouth is healed.
  16. Fingers and toes crossed here for the darling boy...hope he will pull through. Sending lots of good vibes from all of us.
  17. If its not mange then I'd ask the vet for a referral to an internal medicine specialist. Sounds like something internal to me.
  18. I heard raw salmon was dangerous for dogs??? Something about a bacteria in it or something along those lines???? Anyone know for sure??
  19. I would bathe the sore area with Malaseb once a week and leave on for 5 minutes each time while he is standing in the bath. Give fish oil capsules every day with the evening meal and apply Paw Paw ointment to the red areas. Works like a charm to clear up eczma and dermatitis, especially contact dermatitis. Once under control its not a high maintenance problem at all. Could be just a problem during this season of the year. My dogs sometimes have this problem for a coupel of months a year and are fine for the rest of the year.
  20. We have a dog that we took to the vet as he always did alot of wee that was clear not like normal wee at all. After testing it the vet said he was drinking too much water and to take the water bowl away at certain times of the day. It did the trick ansd the wee went back to normal. We discovered that this dog was just having too much fun with the water bowl, playing with the water and drinking too much just for the hell of it. He was fine and is still fine years later in his old age. I wouldn't worry if I were you.
  21. Yep.....makes me want to eat it . We havent used it for a while though and I miss the smell. Is it any good for coats as the name suggests?
  22. I used it on one of my dogs and it made his coat go so dark that it looked a bit odd to be honest. Also made him hyperactive ......???
  23. My suggestion is as well as the EPO and Fish Oil capsules (actually helps reduce fear in the brain) is to find a good "Bowen" Therapist. One of my bitches changed dramatically after a season and after a Bowen treatment to treat her pituary gland and hormone levels she changed back to her normal self within 3 days. It was amazing! If that doesn't work....try clicker training.....but dont show her until she is back to herlsef otherwise you'll do irreparable damage to her emotionally.
  24. My girl is now all better after seeing a "dental specialist", it turns out she had a condition called "Trench Mouth". After treatment she is now all better and off all medication. She is on a preventative regime which will have to continue for all of her life. Maybe your girl could have the same problem. It was caused by an infection from the bacteria in the plaque on her teeth plus then germs getting in from cleaning up the puppies. Hope you get some good results like we did.
  25. Nail quicks will harden and heal up very quickly. Just try to keep it clean for afew days and she will heal up no problems at all. No need to go to the vet unless it gets infected. I would clean it with warm sallty water only. This happened to one of my dogs and she healed up without any probs at all.
